For those interested, there is a web based program which will calculate the effects of an earth impact based on parameters that you provide; the link is http://impact.ese.ic.ac.uk/ImpactEffects/. The authors of the program also provide a detailed explanation (pdf file) of the scientific factors upon which the program is based.

Yeah, i got a real problem with that too. It's kinda unusual that a meteorite falls and something like 7-8 hours later an asteroid comes...

Suggestions it may be a US weapons testing operation:

As far as I can see, the two events can't be connected, as much as one might intuit that they must be (somehow!). Between the time they each occurred, the Earth had moved 300,000 miles in space, and the two objects were coming from opposite directions. They certainly weren't traveling in tandem in some way.

I had an interesting observation of the night sky last night. A star in close vicinity to the moon. Obviously if it was a star it was light years away. But in perspective it was resting right alongside the moon as it moved across the sky. I took a couple pics on my phone. While blurry it is still visible. Anyone else in oz notice this. I have never seen one near the moon like that.
