Given less than 36 hours to live she emerges with an amazing story

Excerpt for the Book "Dying To Be Me"
Oh my God, I feel incredible! I’m so free and light! How come I’m not feeling any more pain in my body? Where has it all gone? Hey, why does it seem like my surroundings are moving away from me? But I’m not scared! Why am I not scared? Where has my fear gone? Oh wow, I can’t find the fear anymore!

These were some of my thoughts as I was being rushed to the hospital. The world around me started to appear surreal and dreamlike, and I could feel myself slip farther and farther away from consciousness and into a coma. My organs were beginning to shut down as I succumbed to the cancer that had ravaged—no, devoured—my body for the past four years.

It was February 2, 2006, a day that will be etched in my memory forever as the day I “died.”

Although in a coma, I was acutely aware of everything that was happening around me, including the sense of urgency and emotional frenzy of my family as they rushed me to the hospital. When we arrived, the moment the oncologist saw me, her face filled with shock.

“Your wife’s heart may still be beating,” she told my husband, Danny, “but, she’s not really in there. It’s too late to save her.”

Who is the doctor talking about? I wondered. I’ve never felt better in my life! And why do Mum and Danny look so frightened and worried? Mum, please don’t cry. What’s wrong? Are you crying because of me? Don’t cry! I’m fine, really, dear Mama, I am!

I was still acutely aware of every detail unfolding before me as I observed the medical team wheeling my near-lifeless body to the intensive care unit. They were surrounding me in an emotional frenzy, hooking me up to machines while poking and prodding with needles and tubes.

I felt no attachment to my limp body as it lay there on the hospital bed. It didn’t feel as though it were mine. It looked far too small and insignificant to house what I was experiencing. I felt free, liberated, and magnificent! Every pain, ache, sadness, and sorrow was gone. I was completely unencumbered, and I couldn’t recall feeling this way before—not ever.

I then had a sense of being encompassed by something that I can only describe as pure, unconditional love, but even the word love doesn’t do it justice. It was the deepest kind of caring, and I’d never experienced it before. It was beyond any physical form of affection that we can imagine, and it was unconditional—this was mine, regardless of what I’d ever done. I didn’t have to do anything or behave a certain way to deserve it. This love was for me, no matter what!

I felt completely bathed and renewed in this energy, and it made me feel as though I belonged, as though I’d finally arrived after all those years of struggle, pain, anxiety, and fear.

I had finally come home.

This gives such a sense of assurance, one can worry and doubt what will happen to them when there physical body expires, or succumbs to environmental trauma of some kind.

But to know that there is peace and an existence of profound love awaiting for us all is a happy thought, and that if one understands it correctly, it can help an individual get trough the difficulties of this life, with the coping mechanism, that each and everyone of us has noting to fear when we are finished here.

Anita's story seems contrived to me - she talks in general terms about how we "shouldn't fear" and how we are "perfect." I don't know if she's genuine, so I will have to buy her book and read it to evaluate her story.

"It is more correct to think of the soul not as something you have rather, what you are. You frequently consider the soul as a finished thing that belongs to you but is not you. In truth your soul is the most intimate, powerful part of your inner self and is forever changing and growing. Your soul is alive, responsive, curious and in a constant state of becoming. The soul portion of you resides in other dimensions beyond the physical level. The soul portion of you is the most highly motivated, most highly energized, most potent consciousness unit known in any universe. Your soul, the soul that you are, that you are a part of, that soul is a far more creative, miraculous phenomenon that you can possibly imagine. Your soul possesses more wisdom, knowledge, information and strength than you can ever be consciously aware of."

"You sell yourself short if you believe that you are only a physical organism living within the boundaries cast upon you by time and space....You are a unique individual. You form your physical environment. You are part of all that is. There is no place within you that creativity does not exist."

"The soul is not something waiting for you at death, nor is it something you must save or redeem. You cannot lose it. It is indestructible. The fulfillment of the soul is not dependent upon arrivals at any points, spiritual or otherwise. Your own personality as you know it, that portion of you that you consider most precious, most uniquely you, will never be destroyed or lost. If you maintain a limited concept of the soul, then you cannot take advantage of its many abilities that are your own, and to some extent you cut yourself off from the source of your own being and creativity. The soul's abilities will continue to operate, but often in spite of what you believe rather than with your conscious cooperation."

"Your inner self knows its relationship with the soul. You think you perceive exclusively through your five physical senses, and yet you have only to extend your ego idea of reality, and you will find yourself accepting quite readily the existence of non-physical information coming from the soul portions of yourself."

"According to what you have been taught, you are composed of physical matter and cannot escape it, and this is not so. The physical matter will disintegrate but you will not. I can assure you that death is another beginning. You have lived before and you will live again, and when you are done with physical existence, you will still live. I want you to feel your own vitality. Feel it travel through the universe and know that it is not dependent upon your physical image."

"What you call death is rather your choice to focus in other dimensions and realities. You do not acquire a 'spirit' at death. You are one, now! You adopt a body as a space traveler wears a space suit, and for much the same reason."

"In the dawn of physical existence, men knew that death was merely a change of form."

I wondering if people have any thoughts on following;

I should say upfront that I believe there is a Creator and our consciousness does not die but lives on..........beyond the human existence.

If there is an afterlife, why would it be so wonderful?
In this life people judge others, their actions, their behavior but we are told the afterlife is "pure love" a state of being without judgement of others. Why would the after life be so different? Believing in this state of pure love is a convenient story that makes us accept the death of others and our own death more easily. There seems to be a prevailing thought that you come to earth to complete a task to finish something that needs to be finished. This is at least what some believe and it also seems to explain why people die at different ages, especially young children.

If you believe in a creator (as I do) and you believe that you do not die but live on as wisdom or consciousness, does that not imply that someone else or something else is in control of our destiny. This belief seems to say that there is a hierarchy on the afterlife and not every soul is equal. I am ambivalent to the bible, if it works for you that is great, but I honestly believe it is a man-made document that organized religion seized upon in an effort to teach people right from wrong and to control mankind. That said the bible does seem to indicate that the closer you sit to God in the afterlife the more important you are. Once again making it seem that not all things in heaven (or the afterlife) are equal.

Why would we want to come or be sent to a world that houses such sorrow?
In this life there is pain, suffering, war, corruption, greed and destruction. Why would such a world be created and why would we be "sent" here or for that matter want to come here? Are we suppose to learn from all of this, if so what possible lessons could we take away from this life. If living a human existence is a growth experience, what part of it is important, is every breath you take as important as the next one. If you break your leg are you gaining any wisdom. Watching loved ones die, is this giving you more wisdom? Getting a divorce, fighting in a war or even murdering a fellow human being is this giving you wisdom. For that matter being housed in a nursing home waiting for death..........is that an necessary experience. Being born with a severe mental illness that has no cure, is this a learning or wisdom gaining experience that you can take into the afterlife.

Is our learning experience here to examine the goodness in mankind? Learning about how wonderful mankind can be instead of all the atrocities that mankind commits. Is the learning experience about the stark realities and differences on planet earth, good versus evil, hate vs love. Why is it at every turn we are bombarded with how horrible mankind is, most books, newspapers, movies, popular internet sites, magazines, television is about war, death, conspiracy, murder, etc. There is no doubt that this stuff sells but why is it really out there, why is it so abundant, why does mankind have such an appetite for the negative about his/her own life experience. Why are we not overwhelmed with information about the goodness of mankind. Most humans, for that matter the vast majority of people on planet earth are kind souls that do not wish to harm anyone, they want to live in peace and they want peace for mankind in general. Is there some lesson here we are are suppose to be getting, could it really be that simple.

Are these stories about pure love just stories or are they convenient stories to make us accept the death of the human body. Can you actually control they human experience that you are currently having or is it preordained and you just need to live the life set out for you ahead of time. Once you leave this physical world do you really enter a world of pure love, no judgement and one where every soul is really equal or is there a pecking order from the Creator on down?

If there is an afterlife, why would it be so wonderful?

Wouldn't it be just as wonderful as you make it, as you see it to be...just like this one?

When she is explaining how she felt halfway thru....

I then had a sense of being encompassed by something that I can only
describe as pure, unconditional love, but even the word love doesn’t do it justice. It
was the deepest kind of caring, and I’d never experienced it before. It was beyond
any physical form of affection that we can imagine, and it was unconditional—this
was mine, regardless of what I’d ever done. I didn’t have to do anything or behave a certain way to deserve it. This love was for me, no matter what!

It sounded very familier to what ion says there is no time just one gigantic now,
and when we return to the 'Guf' we join eternal non -physical and in that state we
are in a state of bliss. We are all 'gods' experiancing physical for contrast....The
more I'm becoming aware of all these experiances.I am quite content to believe
this not it !!

This is also a interresting experiencer....
