The interesting thing is one would expect most meteors to hit the ground or water and cause a huge pile of problems.
In these cases, it appears more controlled.

yes, and what about the star wars/lasers we spent so much money on in the Reagan years ??? yet rocks can penatrate our sky ??? I have never heard of this man. Apparently a book was written by him. The first few pages are highly interesting. Asquali my friend for the introduction. Another book to read.

Hello. I have not posted for awhile because I tried staying away from the internet and retired but that did not stick. What is the increased meteor activity encouraging me to think about?

One obvious lesson is...If I see a bright flash, stay away from the windows.

Another is that one can only really be prepared to be surprised so don't stress out too much about material preparation.

And the third and what I am doing is create stronger communication with Gaia and my personal community because no matter what happens, THAT helps.

What's curious to me is that what are the odds that these events happen over areas that people would see...

The meteors over Japan and Cuba are interesting examples.....how far east or west would these objects have to be to not be noticed by the folks living there.

Further, shouldn't that suggest that these events may be far more common that might appear because 75% of the Earth's surface has no one there to monitor what happens.

We talk about being sequestered in the solar system, cut off from the larger picture. How do we know the same thing doesn't happen on our planet as well.

Cameron went to the deepest part of the globe......why wasn't that a live feed of everything that happened?

That's just my point. I'm not convinced there are more than usual, it's just that they are being reported more (as my original post describes here (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?55904-Fireball-Lights-Up-Northern-California-Skies-Reports)). Following the spectacular Russian case, the media report those bolides/fire-balls/bright meteors that would normally have got little if any coverage.

I've seen it over and over; a tragic accident with an petrol delivery truck kills dozens somewhere in the developed world. Then for a while, every minor bump and near-miss by petrol delivery trucks get reported in the media for a while. And folks think: "Why are all these petrol delivery truck accidents all of a sudden?" Well, no more than usual, just lazy journalists think there's a public interest.

If any qualified astronomers (or serious amateurs) would like to tell us all that there is something more to this than I am suggesting, please put me right. Like I said I might be wrong!

There has been a slight increase in seismic activity in recent days, but, the meteor thing really has my attention right now, seems to be a debris field we are going through or something like that.
