G'day All,
I would like to know what information members here have on Koch Industries.
In particular I am following up on an investigation into their association with certain groups and can't find any information on their interests in the nuclear industry. It is unimaginable to me that there isn't one as they are such a massive company and work in the energy sector so I'm a bit perplexed.
Is there US legislation that stops them investing in Nuclear Energy, or mineral extraction for this sector, since they are involved in oil and natural gas?
I am aware that Charles G. Koch, the CEO of Koch Industries, got his Masters in Nuclear Engineering in 1958 but that's the only bit I've found.
There is a link I'm missing and before I start investigating financials, and trying to trace subsidiary, partial subsidiary companies and joint ventures (which is pretty hard with a private company), if anyone knows where to look please point (use a big stick, but please be gentle :) ).
Thanks.

I was designing nuclear electric generating plants located throughout the U.S.A. from the early 1970’s through the mid 1980’s. Koch Industries does not come to mid, so if they were involved in the nuclear industry, it would have been in an ancillary form, perhaps chemicals or general equipment.
In any event, here are some links to pertinent information; I apologize if they are redundant to work you have already completed.

AriG did a thread on the Koch brothers, here: The Koch Brothers... Transforming every aspect of your life.... even your DNA (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?50698-The-Koch-Brothers...-Transforming-every-aspect-of-your-life....-even-your-DNA). Whether it will be helpful to your purposes, I have no idea.

G'day Bbj3n546pt,
Thanks for the information.
I was familiar with most of the material you linked to but there are a couple that I wasn't so from my perspective a very good investment of your time.
I've got a feeling this is going to come down to joint venture investments, shell companies and the likes.
There are a couple of financial links that I know of but they are pretty tenuous (eg Entergy-Koch JV (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=auavmqGMyzlg) from 2001-2004) and I was hoping for something a little more solid.
Just wanted to check there wasn't something I'd missed that was big and bronze and out in the open (can't see forest for all the bloody trees and all that jazz).
Kind Regards, :yo:

G'day Paul,
I did a general search here to see what information there was on Koch Industries and came across AriG's thread.
I didn't find any link to Nuclear Energy and thought maybe there was someone here who had come across a link in passing that might be able to shed some light on it for me.
My research in this instance is into US Right Wing Think Tanks (RWTT) and lobby groups as I've looked at Australian (mainly ones associated with the mineral sector) and a few European ones previously.
The link I'm tracking at the moment is the association of The John Birch Society and the Koch family (the father, Fred Koch, was a founding member and the Koch family are major donors).
There are so many RWTT's in the US that I thought I'd start with an earlier one and work forward in time to the present. The increase in RWTT's following the 60's was a reactionary process adopted by conservatives following the left's success in influencing public and political opinion through lobby groups etc. The JBS was an earlier one (1958), hence my interest, that was anti-Communism, anti-Eisenhower etc and very pro-nuclear. They've since branched out into a number of areas and have changed their message subtly and the way their message is directed.

G'day Corncrake,
Thanks for the link.
I'll have a look at the site and see if there is any information on a nuclear connection.
It really looks like this is going to be a very difficult journey and I'm wondering if my time might be best spent elsewhere. *sigh*
That having been said, if there is a link that isn't obvious then it's pretty obscure and might be worth the effort.

I second Corncrake's suggestion to take a look at the Koch brothers through the eyes of what appears to be one of the few investigative reporters left, Greg Palast.
Koch gets more than a passing mention in this video:
