There are no words to describe the horrendous shock I felt when I first saw the product of strip mining in this heavenly land. Now that they have probably finished the trees, they are about to start on the water-ways.

We in Canada and more specifically Northern British Columbia need your help.

The world is being told that the United States has just become the world’s largest oil producer.

At whose expense?

These pictures demonstrate why it is said that Canada inherited the heart and soul of N. America.

Unfortunately we have never had a leader worthy of that inheritance.

When you look at these pictures do not weep for what is to come. Rather raise your vibrations and protect through consciously directed intention. We can do it together with Mother Earth. Speak out for love of the Earth.

Wade Davis: Gorgeous photos of a backyard wilderness worth saving (TED talk) (http://www.ted.com/talks/wade_davis_gorgeous_photos_of_a_backyard_wilderness_worth_saving.html)

Former park ranger and now an Ethnographer, Wade Davis explores hidden places in the wider world -- but in this powerful short talk he urges us to save a paradise in his backyard, Northern Canada.

The Sacred Headwaters, remote and pristine, are under threat because they hide rich tar sands.

With stunning photos, Davis asks a tough question: How can we balance society's need for fuels with the urge to protect such glorious wilderness?

Thank you OP for the wonderful post.
As a naturalist and explorer of nature myself, it is quite apparent that corporatism and greed has and is threatening the greatest gem of this planet. Which is its natural beauty and sovereignty.
My "escape" has always been on the rivers and mountains and various other sacred spots. I've seen first hand the exploitation of its resources.
It turns my stomach!
It's the same reason that I so often implore others to get out and see our wonders first hand. In my mindset, it is so that others after falling in love with this grandness we are so gifted to enjoy. That they also will see firsthand the importance of protecting it.
I stress this so often that I'm certain my family and friends think I'm nuts. But we miss soo much not to observe nature in its purest form which is pure beauty.
I can only wish that if you are reading this and you haven't gotten out to the areas that surround YOU to explore the beauty of this gem of a planet. Please do!
Because its counting on us to Love it.
Peace
Chip
