Just a thought that i wanted to share. :tea:
Lately, I have been trying to think of something I could do to put my consciousness more into a love state.
I meditate every day, but today I decided to do something a bit different.
I called my local SPCA ( society for the prevention of cruelty to animals) which in my area is the Humane Society, and asked them if they could use a volunteer to come in for a day or two a week, and help care, clean or help out in anyway that is of service to both my community and to the animals.
Much to my delight, I am going in tomorrow to start.
I think every kind thing we do for all forms of life makes a difference in the entire source of all energy.
I mention this in here, so that if there are other members of Avalon, who just sometimes feel they get stuck in the blues, and wish to feel better about their world, they might wish to try something like this too in their community.

Wonderful idea. I think you meant the Humane Society though.

Awesome.......And if you become a vegetarian or are a vegetarian already, yet you get another Star in my book.
PS The animals told me that they really love and appreciate humans that are vegetarians. ;)

They are the gifts.
We are the stewards.
Cheers, Vitalux. Thanks.

Vitalux--Good for you! I'm helping an elderly friend right now. She is very ill, likely doesn't have long to live. She spent her formative years in a prisoner of war camp and was emotionally damaged by the experience. As a result she has unconscious protective mechanisms that end up turning people off. People who need the most love are often the hardest to love. I don't imagine it's much different with animals. We are both doing similar things. You are working with animals incarcerated now. I am helping a person who was imprisoned as a child during the Second World War.

If we help one another, we are helping ourselves. We are all 1 tribe. Just look at an Ant colony. Truly amazing consciousness they are ehh!

My older daughter volunteers in a cat shelter once a week and it's quite obvious that she is enjoying the experience very much.
My husband and I are volunteers for an organization that provides shelter and stability to persons with a mental condition. The residents and other volunteers have become good friends. We look forward to our outings and celebrations.
If we did not gain anything from all this I am sure we would have stopped long ago.

Sunflower--thanks to you your husband and daughter for making this world a better place! There is much that can be said for going within, quiet contemplation and self reflection. Seeking ultimate truths can also be a higher calling. But one could spend their entire life involved in these pursuits only to find that the most important contribution they made was encouraging the hopeless, sheltering the homeless, loving a poor animal back to life.
Meditation and exploration of inner realms has to be matched with compassionate action in the outer world. There are so many people and animals suffering the tortures of the damned. Our meditations alone are limited in effect.

What a very touching and inspiring gesture ! May the creator bless you and all the little critters you help and in their eyes see the love they share without reward every day : 0 )
Bless you my dear brother

I have done the same thing, last week :) animals are always happy for assistance...people a bit more reserved sadly. If you do reiki or any energy work the animals love it.
thank you for sharing

Nice, I've turned into a bit of a cat man lately. I have three cats currently, a voluptuous 20 pound orange tabby, a beautiful feral who was the pick of the liter of a feral mommy that my mom took care of. She spayed her mom afterwards. Anyways each cat has their own unique personality and my orange tabby Max seems to be half here and half on the other side. Sometimes I feel like he can read my mind. He always knows when I'm depressed and he tries to cuddle the sadness out of me. I feel like he's a guardian angel of some sort.
I've never understood how most mainstream religions completely ignore the issue of animal spirituality. Or they perceive it as a lower form. Why people think a lifetime as a cat, bird, dog, wolf or even a bee wouldn't be fascinating I don't know. Nor do I see the human spirit and animal spirit as different per say. Cheers to you Vitalux on volunteering your time to work with animals. I

Anyone who thinks animals don't have souls has never loved a pet. I can look into my dogs' eyes and feel the love they have for me. They have moods and attitudes too, I can assure you! But I don't believe it's limited to domesticated animals of course. For instance, my husband likes to fish and I can't go boating with him when he does. If the fish didn't have the will to live why would it fight for its life? Yes, I am a vegetarian.
