Of course the CIA have to tell lies but it's an unusually firm rebuttal. (http://charlesfrith.blogspot.com/2013/03/ex-cia-director-denies-dr-steven-greer.html)

He can put that letter in his next book and explain what he thinks of it.

This is interesting. I hope we get to hear Dr Greer's take on it. Dr Greer gets up many noses for many different reasons. In his autobiography he talks a lot about spirituality which annoys some who believe it to be woo woo - I like this side of him. In recent years his lectures have added nothing new - I have been to one and had heard the same information (even the same vocabulary) on you-tube time and again. In the early days he made many assertions about 'disclosure' which has not materialised - officially at least. On a personal level, he does appear to have a big ego and his change in appearance over the years is somewhat odd too - though he did once imply he was 'working out' as self-defence. There is also the question of how much he charges for his CSETI workshops which are very expensive - I understand he now has to make a living having given up medicine but they are still prohibitive for most of us and have been since the beginning. There is the good/bad alien issue too. There are question marks hanging over Dr Greer but whatever one thinks of him now he did put together the Disclosure Project and most of the witnesses are highly credible and related some amazing stories.

Did he swear on a stack of bible's... or Koran's... or what do they believe in again? I don't think they even remember.
Lies are too damn hard to keep up with. You have to tell another to cover the one you forgot the details of until you do not know what is reality yourself and NO ONE believes you!
I wouldn't believe anything anyone in Government told me in writing or not... especially the 3 letter soup groups...

I too have mixed feelings about Dr. Greer, but he has done a great deal to help bring this subject to the forefront--not to mention giving up a very lucrative career and putting his and his family’s lives in potential jeopardy--and for that I give him much appreciated respect and credit. It would have been so much easier for him to keep his mouth shut and continue as an ER doctor.
Having said that, however, it is interesting (assuming that the letter is genuine and was indeed written in 1999) that Dr. Greer has not changed his story regarding the night in question or even commented on the letter--at least not to my knowledge.
On the other hand, I also find it difficult to swallow that the head of the CIA would be so “polite” as to remotely allow the chance that, in doing so, his behavior could be “portrayed politeness as acquiescence and questions as affirmations” if he sincerely did not believe what Dr. Greer was saying and thought he was full of crap. I know I certainly wouldn’t have let it slip by, but then, I don’t adhere to political correctness either. ;)

Interresting article but a couple of observations.....A lot of covert work is
done over 'quite meals ' and meetings from what i can see in the world
of 'Spooks'.....
The other funny coincidence is the Stargate seeries, which is a acknowledged sort
of mil intel /CIA discloser scy-fy programme. Is it just coincidence !..LOL

I am not sure about Steven Greer either, as you say he comes from a mil
background where a lot of people were recruited into all sorts of programmes
from the 1940's onwards and many probably do not know it.We just have
to be aware of all possibilities and it is a interresting rebbuffle to Dr.Greer.
But they would of had to in public.

I'm not brilliant at judging people because I like to give folk a chance to shine, but
I've increasingly avoided Steven Greer on UFO/ET talk because he's such a show
off. I posted his last interview (which is still excellent) but here we have
documentation that he totally exaggerated and lied about his so called briefing to
R. James Woolsey who ran the CIA once. Woolsey will be a professional liar
anyway because he was Director of CIA but this letter certainly exposes Greer on
the timing of the so called briefing and the claims he made about the response of
those who attended this quiet evening meal.
Once again it's worth pointing out that Greer comes from a military industrial
(space) complex background and the use of children for MKULTRA purposes is quite
common. Greer was a trained doctor. It's hardly likely he threw away a career
running a hospital A&E department just to knowingly spin lies on UFOs.
However he could easily be doing that unknowingly as a programmed ALT
Who knows. I certainly don't. Just giving my opinion which is probably worthless.

I vaugely remember Kerry mentioning how he or his team had got into a dust up with a guy at a conference a few years back about a free energy device. The guy claimed that Steven threatened him and Steven said he didn't. I don't think it was ever clear who was telling the truth.

I don't think Greer is CIA/NSA or any other disinfo agent. I think he's simply someone who likes to toot his own horn. I don't agree with his theory that all ET's are friendly but I do agree with his overall message that ET's are real and that the world is run by higher powers that are holding back humanity for their own profit. I'll give credit where credit is due and he's certainly pushed the ET envelope over the last number of years. I'm looking forward to Sirius (I expect some of it to be self promotion for Greer but again, the overall message is what I'm interested in).
On a side note...I've long thought he looks rather reptilian (insert smiley face here).

He has that big ego, but how else can one survive in the dog eat dog world of UFO vs Government counter propaganda? He has survived, and maybe we are just criticizing him for having a healthy ego, (what does it say about us and our egos?) I don't agree with everything but I can't judge him for some reason, besides the fact I don't have all the information... What really freaks me out is his lisp, it sounds so gay! There has to be a gay thing in there somewhere! (not that I'm judging... lol) But what is up with that? Lots of good thoughtful comments btw. I think we all agree we don't see the whole picture. There is an unmistakable 'intrigue' aspect.

If I'm not mistaken, Bill Ryan posted a few years ago (in the earlier format of Avalon) that Greer was suspected to have had a profile up on a gay website at one point. Not judging the man on this by any means (what goes on behind closed doors is no one's business).....just sayin'.
