New Avalon main site is under construction

I received this somewhat puzzling news from an Avalon member when trying to logon on projectavalon.net:



The construction's page reads like this:

Chronicling the human awakening
where science and spirituality meet
New Site under construction

That's exactly what I got when I tried to log in several hours ago and I got this again when I logged in less than an hour ago. I still get this page about PA being under constructions.

I finally got on PA through "ProjectAvalonstatus.net" and clicked on the link that said the site is "UP".

I guess that the person who sent me the info got as confused as yourself when seeing that page making both of you forget the #1 rule in computer "science" (after making sure the computer is plugged in and switch on):


"Read the instructions on the screen."



Although that Home page lacks instructions, it does invite people stumbling upon it to "Visit the Project Avalon Forum" which is an embedded link to the Project Avalon forum Home page...


I guess the link to the PA forum would need to be made less subtle in order to overcome the shock of an implied "disappeared" site... hint-hint to the web page champion designers :)

I know at one time Bill said that he wanted to incorporate the leopard into the Avalon heading image...and there is the leopard ...so maybe these changes are in the process of being implemented.

It may be that a new one is being constructed to take the place of this if this one is ever sabotaged.
I think there was some concern over that recently, as other conspiracy theory websites had reportedly been taken down.

Cool - nice to know my "ProjectAvalonstatus.net" link was useful :).

Bill is considering some changes to the top level projectavalon.net page, off which a variety of content other than just this forum resides.

It looks like the link to the forum (projectavalon.net/forum4) on the top page is not as prominent as it could be, during this work. So I just made it a tad bigger and bolder ... a little surprise for Bill when he resumes work on this.

No ... just improving the appearance and organization of what we have.

We moved the server from Chicago to Phoenix earlier this year, as the doom-and-gloom Chicago rumors seemed more persistent than the doom-and-gloom Phoenix rumors, and I added a ProjectAvalonStatus.net page in November 2012, to provide a way to communicate status in the event of an outage. But if Phoenix falls off the map, then we'll have to contract a server somewhere else and restore from backups, all of which would take some days, at best.

Hello, All --

Amzer Zo beat me to it. I put the new page up 24 hours ago, but today I've been tied up until now and so didn't get round to making a forum announcement. So here it is.

There have been various reasons why I've not updated the main Avalon site for over a year. These include:


The previous webmaster set up a unique and quirky structure (a kind of content management system of his own design) which worked well, especially for the many different language pages that were included, but which has proved frustrating and tricky to understand and update fully.
I've been very busy with other projects, and for those who've found it valuable or interesting to follow my thoughts and opinions, the Avalon Forum has remained an excellent public platform.
I wanted to get to the other side of all the 2012 hysteria (because that's essentially pretty much what it was). That included persisting distractions such as Elenin, Drake, the Mayan Calendar, and quite a bit else.
Most importantly, I have a strong sense that things are about to get quite serious -- meaning that we may now start to run into quite a challenging period -- and therefore it may now be timely for me to start writing more visibly on global issues.

One thing I'd also like to do is to point many more people to the Forum as a deep archive of valuable and cutting-edge information, research, and individual insight. It's one of my intentions to find an effective way of guiding the wider awakening public to discover just what's here.

It'll take quite a lot of work to transform the site to the new platform that I'd like, and it'll probably be a work in progress for a number of weeks. For those of you who may be excited by the prospect of an all-new main Avalon site -- please be patient. :)

Personally, for CMS systems, I use wordpress, and have had fantastic results, and haven't looked back.

Each language team will be free to arrange, format and present their pages in any way they want. These are still accessible by clicking on the country flags at the top of the temporary page that's there now. What I'll be doing is re-formatting the main 'blog' page in English, also linking to specific areas of the Forum.
