Cyprus may make its citizens shoulder a 12.5-percent crisis tax on savings larger than
€100,000, while reducing the tax for smaller deposits to 3 percent, Reuters reported.
Panic ensued as Cypriots rushed to withdraw savings. Global markets analyst Patrick
Young says that EU's proposition to encroach on personal as well as foreign bank
deposits deeply endangers the banking system.

Cyprus MPs reject EU-IMF bailout tax on bank depositorsComments (825)
Protesters gathered outside the Cypriot parliament to denounce the plan

Cyprus' parliament has rejected a controversial levy on bank deposits, proposed as
part of an EU-IMF 10bn-euro (£8.7bn; $13bn) bailout package.

No MPs voted for the bill, with 36 voting against and 19 abstaining.

The finance ministry had modified the package, proposing an exemption for savers
with smaller deposits, but opposition had remained fierce.Thousands of protesters
who had filled the streets outside parliament reacted with joy to the news of the
vote.EU finance ministers have warned that Cyprus' two biggest banks will collapse
if the deal does not go through in some form. However, there has been widespread
outrage on the island at the prospect of ordinary savers being forced to pay a levy
of 6.75%The plan was changed to exempt savers with less than 20,000 euros (
£17,000), with those over 100,000 euros charged at 9.9%, but this was not enough
to placate critics.

I think we need to watch how Farage is going to be used in the E.U. part of Agenda 21.
Has he joined the forces of evil?

UK Independence leader Nigel Farage had dinner with media mogul Rupert Murdoch
after the party's strong showing in the Eastleigh by-election - in what was reported
to be the pair's first such meeting. They ate at the News Corp chief's London home
on Tuesday, five days after Ukip pushed the Tories into third place and fell not far
short of a shock victory, the Daily Telegraph said.It will be seen as a symbol of the
growing influence of the anti-EU party on British politics, with Mr Murdoch
subsequently declaring that Mr Farage was “reflecting opinion”.The newspaper said
Mr Farage, who did not last night deny the meeting but declined to comment
further, had repeated his willingness to strike an electoral pact with the Tories in
2015 if Prime Minister David Cameron is ousted as leader.Mr Murdoch took to
Twitter last night with political observations about his European visits this week -
drawing parallels between the UK and Italy.

“Politics both places very fluid, economies going nowhere. New leaders emerging on
distant horizon,” he wrote in one pos

“Stagnant Europe wracked by discontent and resentment of EU. Glad we contributed to UK resisting the Euro over many years,

“Boris Johnson, Michael Gove, few excellent, frustrated ministers.

“Farage reflecting opinion.”

Thousands of Cypriots are celebrating, after the country's Parliament gave a
resounding no vote to the EU-IMF bailout package. The move could have seen the
government take up to 10% of people's savings, from private bank accounts - as a
precondition to securing the much needed 10 billion euro loan. Now that it's been
rejected, the ailing Eurozone member will have to work out another plan to avoid
bankruptcy.

Scenes of relief and celebration greeted the Cyprus Parliament's rejection of a tax
on bank deposits. The one-off levy linked to an EU bailout deal would have seen
millions of account holders lose up to a tenth of their savings, and had been
condemned by officials and the public alike. But the country now finds itself on the
brink of bankruptcy and having rejected the EU's terms, it may have to turn to
Russia for assistance. RT's Egor Piskunov reports.

Nigel Farage EURO CRISIS 2013 - Enough is Enough!

Its before the Cyprus crisis...

PvjK8WHoFmg

This is quite a strong speach and highlights the problems of the expantion
of the EU.I am not a natural supporter of his views and am in favour of
EU membership as it was a decade ago, free movement of trade and
of people. In Bridgwater we have a large Polish comunity and others
and this is fine and we all know the government figures are wrong there
are far more migrant workers than officially reconised.Again this is ok
Britain has always been a multicultural country and every generation
a new wave has come in and we still have strong commonwealth and
global links. Its part of our heritage from the celts onwards.

We also have many workers from Spain,France, Portugal, Ireland ,Germany
infact from all over the EEC, which is what is supposed to happen and
many Brits work and live over seas as can be seen in Cyprus. But you
cannot get a litre of beer into a pint mug and we are reaching that
point especially with unemployment getting higher. It seems like
Brussels is trying to exasperate the situation.Which will lead to a right
wing backlash if we are not carefull.
