"Hungary has taken a bold stand against biotech giant Monsanto and genetic modification by destroying 1000 acres of maize found to have been grown with genetically modified seeds, according to Hungary deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Lajos Bognar. Unlike many European Union countries, Hungary is a nation where genetically modified (GM) seeds are banned. In a similar stance against GM ingredients, Peru has also passed a 10 year ban on GM foods."

It is good to see that some countries are banning GMO crops.

Meanwhile, in the USA, Monsanto takes complete control of the government. Well, along with their oil and pharma buddies. Oops, forgot the defense industry.

that is a wonderful inspirational story to read.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if more communities couldn't come together to make a difference.

I believe we can:whoo:

I just came across this: It is a way Americans can let their gov't know how they feel about the biotech industry.

"Tell President Obama to veto the Monsanto Protection Act!

We regret to inform you, but late last week Congress succeeded in passing Section 735, aka the Monsanto Protection Act, in the Continuing Resolution spending bill - HR 933. Once again, Monsanto and the biotech industry have used their lobbying power to undermine your basic rights.

We need you to sign a petition to President Obama and tell him to veto HR 933 and the Monsanto Protection Act. With the Senate passage of the Monsanto Protection Act, biotech lobbyists are one step closer to making sure that their new GMO crops can evade any serious scientific or regulatory review.

Excellant. Can we take this as a sign that there may be enough sense in the world to one day completely shake down our current power structures? If we choose to believe that option, perhaps we can!

I was saying to someone today that I would certainly choose to believe that there are, probably, just enough people devoted to living by, and spreading positivity to avert any real situation involving a seemingly overall and worldwide win for the supposed PSB. So on a world instead of people level, a country or two making this kind ruling, at least, means that any government on the planet knows that it can be done, and how, if they are willing to find out. Even if they don't immediately follow, they know it can be done. I wonder if just enough countries are on to this...

Thanks. Sent them $50 last week. Encourage others to do so!

Hi Northstar!

I have a slogan that I live by called "WIN FROM WITHIN". This is a perfect example of this.
Another idea is that the longest journey starts with a single step.
Have a wonderful day. Your post just made mine a whole lot happier;-) M6*

When a whole country steps up and bans this frankenfood, other countries will follow, some will take note, and some will ask questions. Heartwarming indeed. Thank you Northstar, have passed it forward.

I'm living in Hungary and there is a Monsanto Site roughly 3km away from my home in Kecskemet (http://www.monsanto.com/whoweare/Pages/hungary.aspx) complete with offices and an array of sophisticated poly-tunnels, no doubt full of their current franken-projects.
