Memorials demanding that Congress reinstate FDR's Glass-Steagall law were introduced into Minnesota and North Carolina yesterday, as a broad-based mobilization for Glass-Steagall, led by LaRouche PAC, swept the country. These actions bring the number of states considering resolutions demanding that Congress re-enact HR 129, the Kaptur-Jones bill mandating Glass-Steagall banking separation, to 15.

The Minnesota resolution, HF 1744, sponsored by 4 Republicans and 2 Democrats, calls on Congress to "enact legislation to reinstall the separation of commercial and investment banking functions in effect under Glass-Steagall (in 1933)." It was assigned to the Commerce and Consumer Protection Finance and Policy committee.

The North Carolina resolution, H386, was sponsored by three Republicans and one Democrat, all of whom are on the Finance Committee. The resolution specifically mentions North Carolina congressman Walter Jones, who is a primary cosponsor of HR 129.

These state actions are expected to have an immediate impact on increasing the number of sponsors of HR 129 in the House, which now stands at 47, and on forcing through the introduction of a similar bill in the Senate.

At 10:20 Tuesday morning, SP 465 "JOINT RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS TO REINSTITUTE THE GLASS-STEAGALL ACT" (which passed the Maine State Senate on April 4th), was brought to the floor of the House of Representatives of Maine, read and adopted without objection, thus passing both the House and the Senate by unanimous consent.

This should be the most important issue to any resident of the US. If passed in the US, Europe will adopt it almost overnight!

So what does this mean for the average American?

That "they" are pretending to do something to "fix the problem".

Sheme, Glass-Steagall basically separates the saving and loan commercial functions of your local bank from the investment trading type functions of Wall Street. Glass-Steagall is imperfect legislation but it puts the out of control Wall Streets dogs on a leash. The dogs can still bark and nip at the average citizen but Congress would be taking a first step toward getting reelected by acknowledging the power of the people.

So If there was a run on the banks your savings are safe?

Sheme, that was written into Glass-Steagall but given the ways of Congress theses days, who knows if the government has the money to protect your money. They had the money to bail out the banksters in 2008 and some how still have the money to attempt wars all over the world.

Donk, you crack me up and make me cry at the same time, with your witty (to me) but sadly true response.

Of course reinstating Glass Stegall will "help" control this financial mess. ...But the sad truth is: As long as the same systems are in place, the same things will continue to happen. No matter how many Jamie Dimonds or John Cozines we put in jail, 2 more will come along to take their place. No matter how many laws we put in place, there will be those who find a way around them. Until the masses reach a consciousness where they put people before money, we will continue to see those in control, controlling the money for their own benefit.

That being said, I hold a space in my heart for the miracle. I have seen many miracles in my lifetime and presently while corruption appears to be rampant - look closely, as miracles are happening around us daily. I encourage you not to lose sight of them as well.

You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one! It's important that we find each other and begin to connect at a heart level.

Sadder still, the problem is the fraudulent garbage in the system already, somewhere to the tune of QUADrillions (last I checked, in the derivatives market, probably a half decade ago).

I recommend if you are interested in learning about the nuts and bolts of financial securities, start with naked short selling--delve into the world of "Deep Capture", a blog started by Patrick Byrne ("rogue" CEO of overstock.com):

http://www.deepcapture.com/introduction-to-the-deep-capture-analysis/

It is every bit as fascinating a soap opera as some of the wildest "whistleblowers" tell, murder, corruption, Russian mob....good stuff.

Anyway even if you skip the story and go into the education, you will find him explaining how politicians decided to "forgive" the ba-zillions in fraudulent stock and f"ail to deliver" trades because to make the situation "whole" would have collapsed the system.

They said to make the derivates thing (somewhere around aught-eight) whole would have been somewhere around 2 quadrillion (they said 4 were outstanding, so figuring they are bets where one side covers the other side, it would net to half that, right?)...

Regardless...we are not thinking in terms that Billion (with a "b") was a big number and trillion a taboo word in the finance industry a decade ago...I'm afraid you are right barb, we need a miracle...and gotta keep laughing to keep from crying...

That imaginary substance called money, ....made whole again?
The notion that it should be obeyed even to the detriment of all is extremely absurd.
Let millions suffer because the digits in the ether are extreme?
It is not like it is a tornado or an unstoppable tumbling boulder.
It is quite easy to draw a zero.

NICE!!

but no, it is not the "money" being made whole, it's the accounts (by having the correct amount of money/value) that need to be...which as you point out is impossible considering money is imaginary.

If one uses the plastic money or the digital illusion of money offered to one by the international bankers then one is succombing to their own greed to get something for nothing.

The masses's greed is what puts them in the place they are today and their ignorance is what keeps them there.

All they would have to do to make a huge impact without having to go through the theatrics of government and elections or congress would be to immediately on being paid turn that worthless bit of plastic or digital illusionary money straight into solid physical gold bullion.

The the next step is to grow one's own organic food and become independent via food.

That way we don't have to beg anyone for anything (government) because we are already free when we have our own money and our own food.

If people continue to petition a system designed to enslave them they will continue the nonsense of the enslavement.

The only sad thing to realize is that when people do decided to do the right thing and let go all their greed by

owning their own gold bullion and growing their own food they will perhaps need to defend themselves (with guns most likely) from the

corrupt humans who still have huge amounts of greed/fear in their minds.
