In an effort to combat the effects of stormwater runoff into the Chesapeake Bay, the "Free State" of Maryland has issued a "storm management fee" that will go into effect in July. In other words, a rain tax.

This means that anyone with a driveway, a patio, a walkway, etc that blocks the rain from being absorbed into the ground will be taxed. In addition, our satellites and drones will be able to measure these obstructions so that they know specifically how much to tax. :whip:

Wow. As was noted, the monies collected do very little, if any at all, to help the problem. Most of the money simply goes to pay for the salaries and money needed to run the system itself. I wonder if the people will get taxed more during a rainy year, or less during a dry year? Soon, they'll probably add a rain tax to the cost of gas because, hey, roads create run-off.

But for every problem, a new answer. I would suggest to people living in Merry-go-roundland to go out and buy a camouflage tarp to cover the roof of their house so that Big Brother can't see it from above. Or, my preferred solution, buy a great big tarp that can cover your roof with a picture of a big hand giving the one-finger salute!!
