Is there a mysterious force that causes ships and planes to disappear in the Bermuda Triangle, or is this just another far-fetched theory?

Located in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, the Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, covers roughly 500,000 square miles of the ocean, with apexes in Bermuda, Florida and Puerto Rico.

There is no mistaking that a large number of vessels have gone missing in the area; however the explanation for those disappearances is where the conspiracies come into play. According to theorists, supernatural elements are responsible for the disappearances. Some say extraterrestrial beings are to blame, while others point to the mythical lost continent of Atlantis.

Adding more mystique to the incidents are reported compass variations, in which a compass will point to true north rather than magnetic north.

The U.S. Coast Guard and other experts familiar with the triangle discount supernatural elements as being responsible. Instead, they point to the fact that the triangle is situated in a heavily traveled area of the ocean. They say that the number of incidents that occur there are no greater than those that occur in other parts of the ocean. They feel that any number of natural occurrences - including tropical storms and rogue waves – could be responsible. They also point to the possibility of pirates and mechanical failures.

In regard to the compass problems, experts say that there are no unusual magnetic anomalies in the area and cite the fact that all compasses have natural magnetic variations.

Regardless of whom you believe, one thing remains certain: The Bermuda Triangle will undoubtedly continue to remain a source of mystery and intrigue.

Hello there!

I think you're onto something.
But maybe people didn't realize, there could have been some seafloor earthquakes taking place in the Bermuda triangle especially if the area has a history of tectonic disturbance (i.e. sunken cities)

"Abstract
Electromagnetic anomalies covering a wide range of frequencies from ultra low frequency (ULF), very low frequency (VLF) up to very high frequency (VHF) have been observed before earthquakes. However, the ULF range emissions provide a greater source of information regarding the earthquake precursor. One of the main techniques of investigating such a precursor is by using a magnetic sensor. In this paper, we have carried out a study of spectral density (magnetic field intensity) and polarization ratio methods to extract earthquake precursory signatures of the ULF data for moderate earthquakes (magnitude Mb = 3.7–4.8), using a three-component induction coil magnetometer installed at Shivaji University, Kolhapur (16.40°N, 74.15°E), India. We have applied a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) procedure to calculate the spectral density of the ULF time series. We have found enhancement in ULF magnetic field intensity 3 to 5 days before the main shock and this specific enhancement appeared ±3 h around the main shock time in the 1–5 Hz frequency range. We have examined ULF variations with polarization values and Kp index data. Magnetic field intensity of ULF data can give important information about earthquake preparation processes and it can be involved in the development of earthquake prediction methodology."

Another plausible theory of the Bermuda triangle cites a waterspout, caused by storms or disturbance in the weather. Underwater earthquakes can also cause severe damage and destruction without any prior warning. The region of the Bermuda triangle has shown to have intense seismic activity. This area also houses some of the deepest trenches in the world. The underwater area of the Bermuda triangle has an extremely steep drop in the ground. This could also mean that the tragic disappearance of the ships or planes could be a result of being trapped in hurricanes or storms and sinking into the depths of the oceans without ever leaving a trace, owing to the depth of the trenches. The underwater earthquakes in this region can also cause extremely large waves. For a moment, a sea that looks calm and picture perfect can be transformed into a treacherous one and these large waves are also estimated to be the reason behind all the disappearances at the Bermuda Triangle.

I read a document a few years ago which stated that the triangle was a portal for craft to pass through, problem was that it went out of sync and that is when the anomolies started. Apparently, it was repaired and these things are not meant to be still happening!!

Tesla gave the rational explanation above, I would like to quote from Dolores Cannon's 'The convoluted universe' book 1, from a session with one of her clients where she recieved some information about the Bermuda Triangle. Take it with a grain of salt as it is:

P: That is accurate. There is a disturbance in this magnetic flux. This is a symptom of this phenomenon. This flux is the result of bending of the earth's magnetic fields and other energies unknown to man at this time. The instruments work in the presence of these fields being in their normal state. However, in the absence of a norml state of those fields, the instruments do not work as they were designed. For the fields which they work on are not functioning properly, so to say."
