Hey to all:

I have lived most of my years with a bad back which has resulted in having had 6 previous back surgeries, a product of Scoliosis.

I have tried every form of pain management known to Man and now I am looking for a more natural way to treat my pain. I have read many articles on Homeopathic remedies, some of which has worked in small ways but not to where I would like.

I am very interested in finding out how some of you deal with the more natural way to treat pain. What has worked for you?

I try to stay active with excersise and walking and it helps but would like very much to know if there has been an herbal approach that has worked well for any of you that deals with pain.

I realize that this topic might not fit some of the criteria but thought it was worth a shot. So, if you have had something work for you that is on the natural side (I hate to infultrate my body with chemicals) please let me know. I would be very interested in learning what may have worked for you that I haven't tried.

Thanks !

Traumeel is a homeopathic ointment. It is a long term treatment, and will slowly condition scars and decrease scar tissue. Since much post-surgery pain is from scar tissue, this might help. Applied daily, at least twice.

Traumeel is also available through injection which may be better for you. A chiropractor or MD can do this (chiro's not in some areas, but many can inject).

Ingesting omega 3 oils helps with their anti-inflammatory properties. Grass fed meats and dairy, purified fish oil, walnuts - you can search for those foods.

Coconut oil is also antiinflammatory - eat and rub on.

Sugar is inflammatory as is commercial red meat and dairy. Omega 6 oils.

This is just my observation over years of working with health practitioners. Hope it helps.

"Effective Stretching The Ultimate Guide" is the most gentle stretching DVD I've found. Stretching and myofascial release of all the muscle groups would result in pain decrease, and conditioning of all your muscles. You can find it at http://thebodyseries.com.

You might have to work around the painful area for a while, and work up to stretching it.

I am a reflexologist and have successfully treated all kinds of back pain, both skeletal and muscular. Here (http://www.reflexologycharts.org/) is a link to interactive hand and foot charts. Here (http://www.wikihow.com/Relieve-Back-Pain-Through-Reflexology) is a basic rundown on treating backpain. Below is a hand chart to copy, you can work the hands more easily than the feet yourself, particularly with back pain. Don't forget to work the fingers/thumbs to encourage endorphin release. Don't overwork points. Concentrate on areas that are tender, red, or puffy. Drink water afterwards. Be aware of"healing crisis" - working reflex points, particularly if they have crystalline deposits (calcium/uric acid) can release toxins into the body. Drink water, eat gentle foods next meal. Lie down if severe. Call a healthcare professional if nausea is long-lasting.

I would suggest Tapping.......EFT ( Emotional Freedom Technique).......you can view The Tapping Solution DVD for some inspiring stories of how it heals serious life long back pain. Here is a trailer to that movie I9F5kcJBdgI

You can check Robert Smith FasterEFT here, for many tapping video's to watch
http://www.youtube.com/healingmagic

A friend of mine recently went through in ONE week.....a double mastectomy, a heart attack and then burst a major artery......needless to say she wasn't looking or feeling too good when she got home from a week in intensive care.......I told her to try tapping, her husband is not open to anything alternative so she waited until he went to have a bath and then tried it......when he came out , unaware that she had been doing or trying anything at all.....he looked at her and said WOW! what did you do to yourself, you look great, you're eyes are sparkling and you look better than you have in weeks!!! ........she said well I could tell you but you won't believe me.....he insisted because he could clearly see something major had changed in her in the half hour he was gone.......when she told him he was speechless.....after all she had not asked him if he noticed any difference, he had no knowledge that she was attempting any kind of healing on herself......She has been using tapping to deal with the side effects of chemo ever since then and after 16 weeks has been mostly able to work while having her treatments thanks to tapping.

There has been suggestion that EFT is an agenda-based practice leaving people open to outside suggestion. Now don't shoot the messenger here, just relating what I have read on several occassions. Research before use is all I'm saying.

Cosmicat Hi; Rhus tox is the remedy you are looking for. Empty 1 capsule of 1M under the thong and that should do it for at least 3 month. You cannot take another one for at least 3 month remember that, and you have to stay away from Coffee or caffeine in general. This is due to the detox effect which coffee has (same with Cocoa) and Rhus tox is made from the plant Poison Evy which takes your pain away but is poisonous and that is why your body will get rid of it if you consume detoxification remedies.

I suggest that you first Detox your body, which you can do in 48 hours with 1 capsule of THUJA also 1M, and then you wait 2 weeks till you take the RHUS TOX .

Remember to drink lots of water.

Good luck and let me know when you feel good.

There was an infomercial with a doctor on that found that the lack of magnesium, zinc and other minerals are the reasons for many illnesses. I'm in the South and the infomercial comes on around 3am, 4am, and just before the news at 5am. This doctor has zeroed in on the minerals the body has been lacking for decades and the testimony of people. I almost had the name. "napa" something or other..anyway the people said they felt relief the same day, within 20 to 30 minutes and the pain stays away. It's some sort of fruit mixture that has those necessary vitamins and minerals to treat arthritis, heart disease, liver damage. Amazing stuff according to the young and old. I guess that's why they have him on in the "wee hours of the morning" while pushing those organ killing stock drugs, sold by political hacks.

Hi CosmicKat.
Sorry to hear your having body problems.
I've had very similar structural faults with mine as well many heavy accidents to my back and ribcage and also have slight kyphoscoliosis all my life. Yeah ago found out my bones where density 75% below what they should be for my age (It's all the ZERO-G travelling I've done! lol .

Many years ago I used to brew Kombucha .
One great link for you.
http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-kombucha-tea-at-home-173858

Kombucha originated in Northeast China or Manchuria and later spread to Russia and from there to the rest of the world.
My first glass of this magical ancient drink made my hands feel like they where exploding/inflating with energy and gave an over all felling of worm strength!
It was said that the drew will go first to where it is most needed!
Back then I was doing a lot of meditative power workings much of which was by my hands but! I never used to recharge myself and I think the Kombucha knew this :)

I used to brew so much of it that I used to bath in it. One other great health benefit I found was on burns or in my case back then weeping eczema. It leaves a protective film on the skin when drying! try it if you can but!

Please remember it's made by you at home and ingested by you so please take care to keep it healthy sterile conditions :)

One side product of this brewing process is that the pancake floating on top can be divided with each brew and so used to make a separate 2nd/3rd/4th drew. This can cause a dilemma though because you get over run with the pancakes, What to do with them? They where too much like living helping creatures for me to just bin them !!

I once thought about this brewing process in relation to description of Jesus feeding the masses with fish and turning water into wine. The pancakes when dried look like flat round breads! I think I once read that Bread could also mean fish or the other way round? and the brew can be made to taste like wine ?

All the best for your plight.

Worm Golden Glowing Hug to you

I, too, have a bad back and arthritis. I finally ended up with sciatica (horrible!). I don't trust doctors, but I was in so much pain that I finally went to one; all he had to offer was a piece of paper entitled "long-term pain management". Translation: heavy drugs. Then I went to a Chinese doctor here in town. His treatment was accupuncture PLUS cold laser therapy. I was pain-free in three days and have remained so for well over a year. I go in for an occasional "tune up" and I go to him for everything now -- sprained big toe: walking normally in two days --painful and scary bug bite: pain-free in about two minutes and healed right up.

Cold laser therapy has no side effects and has been in use in Europe for 20 years for everything from burns to broken bones. It's FDA approved, but has no "code" so you can't get insurance to pay for it. (Convenient for the medical establishment!) If you try it, be sure your practioner uses a powerful one, such as K-Laser -- the little ones don't have much effect.

Hope it helps!

Glucosamine is effective--- but be careful to get the natural stuff, made from NZ green- lipped mussels! The version I use also has natural chondoitrin and MSM, which is an organic sulphur. My doctor suggested manganese, but I found that had a nasty effect on me, but may work with other people.

And now for the same advice as Vano! Another thing suggested by my doctor, rather as a last resort I felt, was acupuncture. Now I am not a fan of alternate therapy, but I was in pain so I gave it a go. The therapist was a medical doctor, but also was trained in acupuncture. I found it very effective indeed and continue with it for flare-ups. My original acupuncturist has since retired and I had to find another, but I was so convinced of the benefit of acupuncture that I found another therapist who seems to be effective too. Once you get over the sticking needles everywhere it actually has an explanation of the theory behind it!

PS He also did the laser too, which is effective too, sort of acupuncture with light..

why do older people have problems with back pain and the like but younger ones haven't?

it's because of the repairs the body makes, building new cells (bone, cartilage, skin, etc.). they're facilitated by hormones, first and foremost growth hormone. the rate of this and other hormones like testosterone drop continually the older you get and the aches and pains get worse at about the same rate. to reverse this, the production of these hormones needs to be increased, which is best done through high intensity training. a brief, all-out 10-15min workout every 3-4 days is enough to increase the hormone production by several 100%.

an example - my father used to have a pretty hard job lifting/carrying heavy stuff most of the day until almost age 50. he felt fine with hardly any aches ever, even though he had a motorcycle accident in his youth that damaged one of his knees severely. when he lost that job he got a new one with work that was much easier on the body so being quite fit you'd think he would have an easy time. but that's when the aches and pains started, after just 1/2-1 year in that job.

due to the hard, intense work his body had been producing hormones like that of a much younger man, but with the easier job the hormone production eventually dropped to that of a normal 50 year old and the old problem with his knee reappeared and then also back aches and other problems.

so imo regular, brief but very intense exercise is essential to keep the hormone production up and stay young and (mostly) pain-free. supplements and stuff are optional. some of them certainly help, such as msm/dmso for example.

When did the scoliosis start ?

Unfortunatley I was born with scoliosis and has only gotten worse with age, I'm now in my 50's. I think my biggest issue is the scar tissue that has built up over the years due to the extensive surgeries needed to correct the problem.

I have never let this obsticle get in the way of enjoying life although some days it would be all to easy to give up. You see, my Husband and I love the outdoors and take full advantage of it when we can.

On some days when I feel down and I hurt, I remind myself of others who are truely very sick and how blessed I am to have for the most part a healthy life and that seems to make my problems very small.

Exactly my point. It would be very easy to have my Doctor get his great little pen & pad out and write away. All problems solved except for the fact that I am now in a medication induced stooper and most likely addicted to something. I refuse to go there.

Thanks for your input. Sooo appreciated.

I think my mps far infrared pad and rainbow sold by Dr. Hildegarde Staninger has helped fix my back tremendously and it takes away pain. The pad is not in the video but it's the lowest cost equipment she sells. Read the story below of a little girl who used this equipment after breaking her back. P.S. Dr Staninger has a radio show on blogtalkradio about crystal skulls and ascension stuff. She's a whistleblower too.

A Miracle Story of Far Infrared Therapy
...the Power of Prayer and Positive Attitude

This story starts a few weeks after the devastation of Hurricane Ivan in Pensacola FL.

A 5 year old girl named Emma, is playing in the yard when a 300 pound branch falls on her right side, crushing her pelvis, legs, and torso.

After months of miraculous life saving procedures in the hospital, Emma was sent home and the doctor's told her family she would probably never walk again.

During the course of rehabilitation, Emma's family finds a clinic employing far infrared therapy and the rapid progression of Emma's next phase of recovery, using radiant heat therapy, is nothing short of miraculous.

The following story was featured in the Pensacola News Journal... Written by Martina Dinsmore (Emma's Mother)

On September 16, 2004, Hurricane Ivan hit Pensacola, Florida. The category 3 hurricane severely damaged our newly built home on Perdido Key, along with our vehicles, furniture, clothing, toys...Ivan destroyed 95% of our possessions, yet my family and I remained thankful for our lives, each other, and our jobs.

Two weeks later, on September 30, 2004, at 8:00 a.m., I took my daughter and son to their grandparent's house and returned to work as a telebanker for AmSouth Bank.

At 10:00 a.m., I took my morning break and checked my voicemail as usual. My mother-in-law, Dottie, left a message that she and Emma would meet me at the hospital ER. I heard my precious 5 year old, Emma screaming that she was scared and wanted her Mommy. It was the most terrifying message. I ran screaming through our office center and out the doors to my car. I knew it was serious when my stepmother called me on my cell phone and said she and our pastor were on their way to the hospital too.

When I got to the ER, I was met by a chaplain and Dottie, who was covered in blood. Emma's blood. The remainder of my story is really Emma's story and it is a story full of hope and miracles

Emma was sitting on a log, playing under an old majestic oak tree. A hanging limb from the above tree above broke loose and landed on Emma. The limb was approx. 300 lbs and it crushed her against the log she was sitting. It landed on her right pelvis, hip, lower spine area and rolled off her right foot. The injuries were severe and immense.

Emma was taken by air ambulance to a hospital 20 minutes away. For some bizarre reason, she remained conscious through the whole flight. When she arrived at the Nemours Children's Hospital, a team of surgeons were awaiting her arrival in the operating room. She was still conscious and telling the doctors, "I'm alright, I'm gonna be okay." I was told her attitude really choked the doctors and nurses up. Once they rolled Emma's gurney into the operating room, she began bleeding profusely. She was given twice her body's blood capacity. She was loosing blood as fast as it was going in. (Emma did not start bleeding until she was in the OR! The miracle here is that she could have bled to death at the accident site or in the helicopter).

The doctors were anxiously trying to find the source of bleeding and opened Emma's chest to check for a ruptured spleen, liver, etc. They finally discovered a severed artery and surgically stopped her bleeding.

Emma's next hurdle was a big one. She had received so much blood, in such a short period of time, that her body was swelling severely and her internal organs were dying from lack of oxygen. After 11 hours and begging to see Emma, the ER doctors finally allowed me and her father into ICU. When we entered her room, doctors were still frantically trying to get more blood into her system. We were shuffled to the head of her bed and told to talk to her. I was in shocked at her swollen, damaged appearance. She was on life support with a hundred tubes running in and out of her. I did not know how it was possible for her to hear our voices, but the nurses just begged us to comfort her and allow her to hear our voices. (We came to know these nurses well, and they told us months later that they did not think she would live through that night. This was their way of getting us to say good bye.)

After our short visit with Emma (2 minutes tops), we were told that Emma would need emergency surgery in order to live. We agreed to let the doctors take out her internal organs (stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, etc) and allow those organs to remain outside of the body for a week's time). This was the craziest thing we had ever heard. The doctors performed their operation and Emma's internal organs were wrapped and laid outside her body, against her side. The doctors then put drain tubes in her lungs to drain the excess fluid off. When the internal organs were pulled out of Emma, they were purple from lack of oxygen, but immediately turned pink. (This was a miracle!)

Emma remained on life support and in a drug induced coma for eight days. Her injuries included 2 broken legs with many leg fractures, a dislocated ankle, a crushed pelvic bone with missing bone, spinal cord injury in the lumbar area, which has left her with a neurogenic bladder and severe nerve damage to her legs and feet. Emma had hundreds of fractures in her back, affecting eight vertebras. Our family was called into a small room for a doctor's consultation. We were told that Emma would never walk. Her neurologist told us, "Mourn the loss of the old Emma and accept the new Emma that you have."

When we walked out of the consultation room my family agreed that we would never accept that! Emma remained in ICU for two months on a rotating bed. We witnessed many miracles. I received messages from God through strangers and friends on earth. We were told by many visitors that the power of prayer could be felt in her room. Blood donations, cards, letters, and gifts continued to pour in from our community. Trace Atkins even dedicated a song to Emma at the county fair, as well as a monetary donation to her medical fund.

Emma spent an additional month in Atlanta at the Children's Hospital for spinal cord and head injury patients. It was an intensive rehabilitation. She was taught how to use a wheelchair and she taught her therapists how to ballet in a wheelchair. She made quite and impression in Atlanta. The housekeepers always commented that her pink, sparkly hospital room was full of love and happiness. We would laugh and tell them it was a downscale from the ICU room she had in Pensacola.

When we returned to Pensacola, life was so different. There were special adjustments that had to be made to our house, for handicapped accessibility. We needed to buy a car that would fit a wheelchair. I met with school officials who helped with the transition of Emma returning to school.

A very shy Emma returned to school in February, 2005. The children at school rallied around her. They were so happy to see her return. Emma made it very clear to everyone from the very beginning that she could push her own wheelchair. She continued to be as independent as ever. She continues to make the honor roll and is also in a gifted class. Emma has been ballet and tap dancing since 18 months of age. She returned to dance classes, performing her first recital in her wheelchair. Her second recent recital was in May. She performed her tap routine with her arm crutches and leg braces. It was a beautiful thing for our community to see her progress. Emma still continues with physical therapy twice a week. Her current goal is to be in two short braces and one arm crutch. It is a strong struggle, but she is working hard towards that goal.

We recently discovered horseback riding for disabled children. A therapist works with Emma on a horse and with a pony to strengthen her abdominal, back, and leg muscles. It has been a fantastic form of therapy. Emma loves the horses and doesn't realize it is an important form of physical therapy. A local bike shop designed a special bike for Emma with training wheels and swimming pool therapy have both helped to keep Emma active and strong.

Our family traveled last November to the Children's Hospital at the UAB in Birmingham to see a Pediatric Urologist and inquiry into electro stimulation for her bladder. It turned out to be a very educational visit, but did not lead us to a resolution for her bladder incontinence. A more recent visit to Mobile Alabama for a Second Opinion from a Pediatric Orthopedic and a Catscan was very enlightening. We were told by this doctor that Emma had a global twist in her lower spinal cord area. This twisted area had a lot of scar tissue. Scar tissue here was preventing nerve regeneration. Concerning her bladder and leg nerves, we were told, "It is what it is. She sits up with great balance and has good upper body strength, but medically speaking she would not have any improvements in those areas."

The most recent and miraculous improvements and discoveries have happened two weeks following this second opinion. My good friend Dee told me about Jodi Mollohan's Far Infrared Therapy Center called Introcell. Dee keeps her horse on property next to Jodi's house. They became friends and two weeks later, Jodi became our life friend too. Introcell has changed our lives and given us more hope than ever. Jodi and Introcell are a major force in our lives.

I always felt that I was looking for something/someone that I knew would have answers to my prayers. I found miracles and answers when I met Jodi and Dr. Hildi. A picture of Emma and her testimony below hang in the entrance of Introcell (In Emma's words):

My name is Emma. On 9/30/2004, I was crushed by a 300 lb oak tree limb in Pensacola two weeks following Hurricane Ivan, which left me with a spinal cord injury. Doctors gave me little hope for ever walking again. My bladder nerves are damaged and recently my doctors said those nerves are probably dead. I still can't feel my left foot because of nerve damage and I have a severe spinal curvature too.

Before my first Far Infrared Therapy session, I could only wiggle a single toe on my right foot. After my first session, I wiggled all 5 toes and could swing and kick my legs like crazy. We were told this was due to increased blood flow and circulation. My once cold legs and ice cold feet are now always warm and my skin has a beautiful glow.

I was also covered with a lot of permanent bruising-- trapped blood under the skin. Now there is very little bruising at this point in my healing process. The once large and painful calcium deposit on my tailbone is now almost completely gone, so now I can lie on my back without pain. I have many severe scars and the scars are now fading! IntroCell's therapy has begun to heal my body in such a short time. I am getting so strong with my walking ability (I currently walk short distances with leg braces and arm poles) and my spine is getting straighter too. The most challenging and exciting healing is the changes to my neurogenic bladder. It is coming back!

Far Infrared Therapy has been my MIRACLE THERAPY. I am so grateful to IntroCell and to "Dr. Hildi" for changing my life and giving me hope.

Emma's changes are nothing short of miraculous!

Emma was told she would have to be on antibiotics for the rest of her life to prevent bacterial infections (UTI's). Prior to FIR therapy, if we missed a dose of her antibiotics a UTI would almost immediately begin. Currently she if off the antibiotics with no sign of UTI at all! Her appetite has increased and is normal. Before Introcell, Emma ate dinner (period). No breakfast, lunch or snack. She never ate and it killed me. She had absolutely no energy and very little upper body strength. We were very concerned about this. She spent too much time in her wheel chair because using her wrist crutches was a struggle.

Currently Emma eats like a horse and is full of energy. Her legs and feet are always warm instead of ice cold. She has a beautiful radiant glow. No dark circles under the eyes. No yellow looking skin. Her wheelchair is only there for extreme situations, and she refuses to use it except for large outings. Emma now goes everywhere with her wrist crutches, wearing a short brace on one leg and a long brace on the other.

I kept a journal of her Introcell sessions.

After the very first session, Emma wet herself. Something she has not done since the accident. She has wet herself a dozen or more times to date. Something is coming back. Far Infrared Therapy helps to move and diminish scar tissue. Perhaps this Far Infrared therapy (FIR therapy) will allow her nerves to regenerate through her global twisted spinal area. As a mother, I am so blessed to no longer see the severe bruising she once had. Emma was covered with black bruising all over her pelvis area, including between her legs. Almost 98% of that bruising is gone.

Doctors told us prior to Introcell that she would probably always have that bruising because it is trapped blood beneath the skin. Far Infrared heat has broken up that blood and moved it out of her body. Also, Emma had a calcium deposit on her tailbone. It was very protrusive and caused her pain when she lay on her back. Doctors told us to consider laser surgery to shave it off when Emma is a preteen. That calcium deposit is now gone and causes no discomfort. It disappeared after her second or third far infrared therapy session.

Emma had a severe curvature in her spine too from the impact of the tree against her pelvis. We were told to be prepared for surgery in a few years to straighten this curve. The Far Infrared Capsule Dima has begun to straighten her spine. Surgery is no longer needed in the future.

I see so many changes in Emma as a result of FIR therapy. We purchased a Capsule Dima for Emma to use daily. We will purchase the Far Infrared Sauna as soon as we are able to do so, because we feel it is so necessary for her healing.

I wish to share Emma's story and results with everyone! I tell everyone... my neighbors, friends, family, school administration, church family, everyone I have contact with, because it is such a miraculous and simple way of healing the body.

To update this story, we are sorry to report that this center has since closed.

However this story lives on to inspire everyone in need of 'recovery and healing'!

Although not homeopathic remedies, these are two therapies that came to mind:

1. Neuro cranial reconstruction: http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?45176-Achieving-facial-symmetry

0ngRpnBN3ag

2. AtlasPROfilax adjustment. I have had this procedure, and I must say it felt wonderful. I felt taller, straighter and more at ease. Although I didn´t have any back problems to start with.

I have the same diagnosis and it's oh so painful. Amazingly though I have no pain or issues whatsoever as long as I don't eat pork. I don't know if it affects the osteoarthritis or the degenerative disc disease more but 2 weeks after I eat pork my coccyx hurts. After a few days the pain begins to radiate up my back bothering the low back before touching the upper. After that it moves into my neck finally leaving me with a dazed and confused feeling in my brain for 2-3 days.

Yeah, I know you're wondering about pork. All I can say after watching coke a cola poured on it causing maggots to crawl out I've watched my intake and whether it's a pork chop, bacon or pepperoni on a pizza it takes at least 6 weeks to work its way out. Try the remedies people offer but rid your body of pork for 2 months to feel the difference and when you're ready to test it have some jello or whatever and feel it go up your spine and down your breast plate. Pain sucks.

Let me know how it goes!

One of the best ways to reduce arthritic pain is to reduce the inflammation.

Natural anti-inflammatories include:

Willow bark - the drug aspirin was originally derived from willow bark.

Boswellia serrata extract aka Frankincense

Uncaria guianensis aka Cat's Claw

SKI 306X - a purified extract from three plants (Clematis mandshurica, Trichosanthes kirilowii and Prunella vulgaris) traditionally used in the Orient to treat inflammatory diseases.

As with all medicines, there are potential risks and therefore, advice from a qualified expert should be sought before making a decision.

hugs cosmickat.

with the condition of your spine, i can see why you would have much difficulty in finding relief.

im a firm believer in acupuncture and oriental medicine (which is why this is now my future career path). if there is any kind of oriental medicine practitioner aka acupuncturist in your area, i highly recommend a visit as the acupuncture can help with your nerve sensitivity/inflammation from your spine's instability as well as the herbal formulas can be a natural alternative to conventional pain medications, since the good chunk of any western medication can be link to herbs in used in traditional chinese medicine.

decreasing foods that can aggravate your nerves and inflammation in your muscles may help you here with your pain, as the majority of it is due to the structure of your spine, as it is not in normal ailment, which leads to nerve pain/inflammation. i recommend keeping a minimum of refined sugars (which can also aggravate nerve pain) and processed grains/foods as well as also avoiding fats/fatty foods. Adding to your diet, herbs/spices with anti-inflammatory properties, such as ginger, cumin, tumeric, cayenne pepper; , fruits/veggies like avocados, pineapple, mangos, papayas, celery, spinach, onions, garlic, broccoli as well as consuming more fish (or omega-3 fish oils supplements (which decrease inflammation)) may be of benefit to you.

i also recommend looking into Bach Flower Remedies, which is one of the things that have been an invaluable tool in assisting me with my pain management of my fibromyalgia. a good site for this is http://www.skylarkbooks.co.uk/ (internationally, the best deals) or feelbach.com (for the best deals in the US). you can find BFRs at any natural health food store such as trader joes, whole foods or mother's market (but they tend very in prce from 15-20 bucks for 20ml bottle).

you may also want to look into swedish bitters, as i have heard good things about them, as they can help with maintaining pain levels to tolerable levels.

hope this helps. :)

The above blurb conjures up images of ancient rural folk annually foraging through the forest and picking up "shed" deer antlers.

The reality is quite different!

The deer/elk are kept in "free range" fenced off compounds devoid of forestry and their antlers are "humanely" removed with hack-saws whilst the animal is held down and restrained.

The quote below is taken from the small print in the advert link from Mu2143's post quoted above.

Indeed, for deer farmed in New Zealand, it is recommended that velvet is removed each year, in order to prevent stags using them as weapons and damaging themselves and other deer, as is common in the wild. Does removing the velvet hurt the deer? Absolutely not. The removal of the velvet is a very humane process. In New Zealand, velvet can only be removed by veterinarians or specifically trained and certified farmers, under the strict control of the New Zealand Government's Animal Welfare Advisory Committee and mandated by New Zealand law

As one can ascertain from the above quote, deer antler was, up until relatively recently, a redundant by-product of the venison industry (except for orna-"mental" applications such as knife handles etc...) and the health claims are at best speculative especially when one considers the auto-immune issues associated with all animal products consumed by humans.

Watch the video below to get more of a realistic view of how this "product" is "harvested" (Jeez I feel sick just writing this post!). If you are offended by passionate language, mute the audio. The pictures speak for themselves.

Mu2143, I trust you'll have the compassion to retract your promotion of this product.

I should also mention that I see Matt Monarch, who you have highlighted favourably in another post (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?57396-The-Vegetarian-Myth&p=653991&viewfull=1#post653991), as nothing more than an embarrassing, repulsive, unscrupulous, money grabbing, snake oil selling stain on the vegan community. The conspiratorial side of my brain can't help but think his surname is no coincidence either, but that's for someone else to run with if they feel inclined.

Major respect to Harley for compiling the youtube video.

I'm not expert on the subject but I have been listening lately to Dr. Joel Wallach and now to John Bergman and I find many tidbits very illuminating.

Since last January I started to have pain in my hands as soon as a woke up, after 2 or 3 months it's just in my left thumb and it's controlled now. I heard about colloidal copper which I bought from amazon and I started drinking half of a cap every morning. To my surprise the very first day I felt a lot less pain and the second day I didn't have the feeling of numbness or stiffness even though my thumb is still very much stiff but I'm not aware of the stiffness most of the time now and I would say that 80-90% of the pain is gone in a regular basis. I've been learning about mineral deficiency which I think it's more important than we tend to believe, there's a product called colloidal minerals from Now Foods that also can be helpful to you.

Please take a look to these videos, I know you'll find valuable tips here. The guy is funny and I promise you, you'll learn something useful. He's a chiropractor and knows about the spine and bones.

In the video about arthritis he talks a lot about the spine.

Thanks !

Try doing a few liver flushes and urine therapy and other distilled waters (fresh green juices, clean rain and distilled water. More details in my signoff links below. Good luck..

Hi CosmicKat. Try and direct your attention to the parts of your body where neutral feeling or pleasure exists and then imagine that this feeling is diluting the pain continously until there is only pleasure/ good feeling.

I learned this by boosting my ankle when I ran through my garden and my foot went into a hidden rabbit hole. I was late for my bus and had no time to stop to let the pain go away so in that moment I put my awareness on the rest of my body. It did not make the pain go away but the attention on it was less than 10%.

This method evolved over time so that it is like the rest of my healthy body helps that place of pain. The more relaxed. loving and peaceful the state, the better it works.

I hope you get better soon. Thank you.

First of all Dr Deagle is not affiliated with Matt Monarch and if you have been listen to his radio show then you know that the animals are'nt abused at all.

Its like randomly finding stuff on the internet and connect them without any research making false accusation.

I never said Matt Monarch was affiliated with Bill Deagle. Please read my posts more carefully (and click on the links within them) before misquoting them.

In response to your statement "the animals aren't abused at all", How do you know that? Because the woman who is making a fortune out of the sale of such products said so? Given the evidence I have provided, are you really that naive? There was certainly no mention of the antler-removal method in the info-mercial you shared but there is plenty of photo evidence in the video I uploaded. Let's be clear too, when they say velvet, they mean antler: that's cartilage, blood, bone and marrow! We're not just describing some fluffy coat that can be removed like wool with shears!
Did you even watch the video? Would you care to explain what they were doing if not "humanely harvesting" deer antler? Ahhh yes, of course they couldn't have been doing that because they naturally shed their antlers each year, right? Wrong!!! they shed their antlers naturally in the wild, and not necessarily annually, but farmed deer have them "humanely removed" with a hack saw so they don't injure each other with them. If you think I'm just pulling unrelated info together to form some fictional prose you are free to think that but you are still wrong, in denial and grossly deluded as to the realities of modern deer/VENISON farming since I provided the following quote direct from the Nutri-Medical advert which YOU ORIGINALLY LINKED TO!!!

Here it is again!!!

Indeed, for deer farmed in New Zealand, it is recommended that velvet is removed each year, in order to prevent stags using them as weapons and damaging themselves and other deer, as is common in the wild. Does removing the velvet hurt the deer? Absolutely not. (according to the purveyors of it lol!!! ed) The removal of the velvet is a very humane process. In New Zealand, velvet can only be removed by veterinarians or specifically trained and certified farmers, under the strict control of the New Zealand Government's Animal Welfare Advisory Committee and mandated by New Zealand law

As if that wasn't enough, here's the transcript of the first sentence spoken by Bill Deagle in the nutri-medical info-mercial/report as shared previously by you:

"And we are back, here to serve you, to make you the healthiest person you can be naturally with the amazing molecules…….eh one of my favourite scriptures in the Bible is 'the leaves of the trees are for the healing of the nations' and those leaves are not just leaves on trees, they're the mountain red velvet on the antlers of deer to heal your body."

WTF????? Aren't there dire Biblical warnings about adding to the "word of God"?

And......if you are coming from a Biblical perspective given your sig', how do you assimilate Genesis 1 verse 29 into your belief system? For folk not familiar with Biblical text here it is:

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. (KJV)

If that isn't "divine" endorsement of the vegan diet, what is?

And finally, with as much respect as i can muster for peddlers of animal misery like Bill Deagle (which is a shame when one considers information he has shared in the past), he is chronically obese to put it mildly.....not exactly the kind of person you would trust your health with.
Is he in such shape because he administers to himself what he sells to others or because he doesn't.... and if the answer is the latter, he clearly doesn't have much faith in his product line now does he?

In the words of Aesop:

Physician, heal thyself!

Hi CosmicKat,

Firstly i want to apologise for going off topic. I feel very passionately about such topics and feel it is important for people to be aware of the cruelty they are buying into.

Secondly, I wanted to ask you what your diet has consisted of over your lifetime. The reason being that when I became vegetarian 10 years ago, my dairy consumption increased as cheese replaced meat as you might expect.

Just under a year ago I noticed what I can only describe as an arthritic type bony outgrowth on the side of the first knuckle of my second largest right toe, under the skin of course.

I put it down to general deterioration due to age (I'm 41) and left it at that since there wasn't actually any pain unless I applied pressure to it.

Now about 6 months ago, I started experimenting with a vegan diet to the extent that I have now been 100% vegan for about 5 months.

Last week, I noticed that the boney, arthritic outgrowth had completely disappeared leaving the toe in question exactly as perfect as the left one.

After doing just a small amount of research to try and understand what had happened, it became abundantly clear across the web that diet is the key component in managing such issues: primarily meat and dairy reduction or removal.

I'm not trying to convert you, I'm just sharing my experience over the last 12 months on the subject in the hope that, if you have not already taken such steps to alleviate your problem, you might give it a try.

The following article will hopefully shed more light on the issue:

http://www.pcrm.org/health/health-topics/foods-and-arthritis

but it is by no means the only one on the subject. I would suggest googling - "osteoarthritis vegan", "osteoarthritis dairy" and osteoarthritis meat" and then checking out the results one by one. The more results you go through, the clearer the picture will become.

The USA has the highest incidents of osteoarthritis on the planet and just coincidentally the highest meat and dairy consumption too, as well as the highest rates of cancer, heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

Starting to see the pattern yet?

To be clear, a diet of fresh fruit and vegetables will reduce the chances of the above diseases as well as playing a healing role for those who are already suffering from such ailments.

I would also theorise that given the damage a diet high in meat and dairy can do to bone structure, a pregnant mother on such a diet could well inadvertently inflict that kind of damage on the unborn child, but that's just me thinking out loud.
