Bluegrass Pioneer Ralph Stanley Dies At 89

One of the early leaders of bluegrass music, Ralph Stanley, has died at age 89. His death was announced by his grandson Nathan Stanley; Stanley's publicist said in a statement that the cause was complications from skin cancer.

Ralph and his older brother Carter started out in the late 1940s as a duo. After Carter died in 1966, Ralph continued with his band the Clinch Mountain Boys and built a fan base fiercely devoted to his straightforward banjo and archaic-type singing known as the "high lonesome" mountain sound.

High Lonesome

Stanley's sound came in part from the fact that he often sang in a minor key, while his band played in a happy-sounding major key.

John Wright, who wrote a book on Stanley called Traveling the High Way Home, says that tension between minor and major, plus what he called Stanley's unearthly smokey vocal tone, "gives this old-time mysterious flavor to the singing. The voice sounds like it's coming out of the past, like a ghost or something like that."

Stanley himself told WHYY's Fresh Air in 2002 that he was aware his voice was special, "a gift I think that God's given me, and he means me to use that."

Virginia Roots

Stanley recalled growing up poor on a farm in southwest Virginia, using a stick as a make-believe banjo

He and his brother Carter started playing professionally on local radio in Bristol, Va., in 1946, calling their show Farm and Fun Time. Trying to compete against more mainstream country music and rock-and-roll, they moved toward a smoother duet style.

After Carter's death, Ralph moved back to the traditional sound. He also drew on his childhood experiences in the Baptist Church and started presenting a capella solo and quartet religious songs on the bluegrass stage, something that wasn't common before.

O, Brother

Ralph Stanley entered the Bluegrass Hall of Fame in 1992, but his unearthly tenor catapulted him to much wider fame when, in 2000 at age 73, he was asked to sing the song "O, Death" for the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou.

He told Fresh Air he was surprised by the reaction, but also gratified with the letters from people who said "that sound caused them to change their life, and I ... believe that gift was given to me for that purpose."

Zimbabwe UFO Child Conactee Speaks Publicly For The 1st Time

Emily was only a few feet away from the beings and believes she was given messages.

One of the most outstanding UFO experiences involving a group of children took place on September 16, 1994. Approximately 60 children between 5 and 12 years old were playing outside their school on the outskirts of the capital of Zimbabwe when they saw a large spaceship and several smaller craft gliding over the scrubland.

The spacecraft landed beside their playground. The children claim that they were approached by beings from the ships and that the whole encounter lasted about 15 minutes.

Emily Trim was one of those children. As a young student at the Ariel primary school near the town of Ruwa in Zimbabwe, the incident was made famous when it was covered by the BBC, who interviewed the children soon after the incident. Harvard psychiatrist Dr. John Mack traveled to the school to interview the children and recorded their extraordinary accounts.

To this day, she says, the incident still effects her. Standing only a few feet away from the beings she believes that she was given messages.

She has been painting and drawing mysterious and beautiful images she feels are a manifestation of the messages she received.

In this video, Emily Trim speaks publicly of the first time at the Alien Cosmic Expo 2015. Her emotional testimony conveys the depth of her personally moving experience as a child who was face to face with an extraterrestrial being.

“I was a witness from the Ruwa, Zimbabwe event. I was just over 8 years old when this happened. I was born in Canada. I’m from a family of five. I have a brother and a sister. My brother was also at the school during the time of the event. My parents are missionaries for the Salvation Army. That’s why we were down in Ruwa Zimbabwe. We were in Zaire before that, then went to Zim, and we all attended Ariel, which was a lovely school. I’m really thankful for that experience, putting aside the UFO phenomenon. It was a beautiful place to live and to be.

So, on that day … I can only speak about my perspective and where I was. Every child was in a different area of the playground. But it was recess and broad daylight … and we were just doing our normal thing … playing games. There were boundary lines along the property and one of the games my friend and I used to play was hopping on the boundary lines.

Then we heard a high pitch frequency sound, and — out side perspective — we saw a flash and a craft.

And it’s really hard to describe time at this point, so I don’t know how long this all happened. All I can tell you is that two beings were hopping along beside Lisa and I. And … they were curious. They weren’t touching the ground [inaudible] … they were almost like mimicking us.

All of a sudden they were in front of us. I describe them as being about arm’s reach. And we were frozen. Telepathic images started going across my face … communication through the eyes … that’s all I can really describe it as. It was just image after image after image.

One of the other girls standing beside me, she got more communication about the environment, and, for me, mine was more technology uses and [inaudible] uses of technology.

I’ll just … I’ll never forget that day.

Question from the audience: Have you had any other experiences with the same being?

Emily: I don’t know if it’s the exact same being, but what I can say … Yes.

[Emily describing one of her paintings:] So when we were talking about the time (of the event, which) I depicted here. I don’t know when I’m going to realize what I’m drawing. It just comes out. For me, it’s like an energy that’s all around us that’s causing time to stop at that point. [inaudible, including description of the feeling of being frozen.]

Question from the audience: Could you explain what the other beings that have been coming to her, as far as you know, look like.

Emily: You mean when I’m having experiences? [Yes.] I’ll just say that they can alter perception so they can change to make you almost feel a bit more comfortable with what you’ve seen. The last encounter there were grays. A face went back and forth between a being and lion.

"Edward Gross has an extensive history of covering film and television as a member of the editorial staff of a wide variety of magazines. He discussed the true story behind the making of a pop culture phenomenon - Star Trek. The series debuted in 1966 and has spawned five TV series spin-offs and a dozen feature films, with a new movie from Paramount arriving later this summer. Gross thinks that the originators of the 1966 TV series "couldn’t imagine anyone in front of or behind the camera" who would have dreamed that the franchise would still be around after 50 years. He said that the show was originally supposed to be a starring vehicle for William Shatner, but that it quickly became evident that the three main characters (Kirk, Spock, and McCoy) were the "guys that really made Star Trek."

Gross also told the story of how Leonard Nimoy began to receive as much or more fan mail than Shatner a few episodes into the series, and that Shatner was quite upset about it. Among other things, Nimoy also began making demands for more money. The situation became so contentious that creator/ producer Gene Roddenberry wrote a memo to the three main stars saying that they were "destroying the show" with their infighting. Gross also recalled the inception of the Next Generation series in 1987 and how "no one was excited about it." After the show began to explore different themes than the original series, it found itself and went on to glory. Gross thinks that the JJ Abrams reboots of the last few years gave the Trek universe a "shot in the arm." There is a new series set to debut next year that Gross thinks will survive if it embraces the new modes of TV storytelling that have emerged in the last few years. In conclusion, Gross believes that the original series was so successful because it "presented a better version of us."

"George started the second half by reporting that Art Bell was recently in the hospital for a lung ailment and asked the listeners to pray for his recovery. Many listeners such as Dean from Michigan called to say that Star Trek had played a big part in their lives. George asked for a roundup of listener stories about "people acting strangely." Amy said that she works in retail in a mall and has noticed the people acting weirdly in her store "seems to come in groups or waves." She said that this was happening more frequently than in the past and that just before the recent Florida shootings, there had been a lot of people who seemed to by wound up more than usual. David from Fairbanks called to tell about his "haunted" ventriloquist dummy and offered to send it to George to keep in the studio. He absolutely refused.

Harvey called from Orlando to tell the listeners about his method for seeing a "two story Moon base." He told George that he used a 2400 mm lens and high-definition video equipment to locate an apparent structure. He stated that "NASA will not be able to deny this." The images may be posted at the C2C site after the staff has a look at them. Lee in Los Angeles reported that he was listening to Coast To Coast one night and suddenly heard the show go away and was replaced by an "Indian war chant," then the show came back, but it was "on all bands on every channel." Stacy called in to say that her radio was old and that she had problems listening to the program. George said that he would buy and send her a new radio."

We’ve seen alligators waiting for us in our swimming pools and even ringing our doorbells in an attempt to lure us outside, but now they’ve gone full stealth by hiding in trees. That’s what Ronald Saracino of Cape Coral, Florida, thinks he spotted earlier this week, anyway. Saracino, a southwest Florida man who first spotted the gator, told WINK News that he’s been a Florida resident for eight years but it was the first time he’s seen anything like this.

“Saw something in a tree, at first I thought maybe it was a lizard. The more I looked at it, the more I thought it was actually probably a 5-foot gator,” he said. Thankfully, Saracino had the sense to snap a picture of the suspected gator, but nope, apparently it’s not the most unusual thing in the world.

“They are more agile than people give them credit for,” explained Amy Sera, an educator at the Calusa Nature Center in Fort Myers. Sera says it’s common for gators to climb things, such as fences, if they need to.

“I’ve seen picture of crocodiles doing that behavior. It gives them a little bit better view of their territory,” Sera said. “Cold blooded animals get their energy from the sun and the warmth. So, they are more active in the summer.”

A better view of their territory, and a better view of the humans they can drop down and surprise attack, ninja style. Never walking under a tree again."

"July 10th, 2016 would have been Nikola Tesla's 160th birthday. Hour two guest and Tesla biogrpaher Marc Seifer joined Jimmy Church (email) to discuss the visionary inventor's legacy. In the 1990s, Seifer spoke at the UN in support of making Tesla’s birthday an international holiday. Although this was not to be, he is glad that Tesla has gained wider recognition with the automobile and energy company bearing his name. Seifer lamented the way that Tesla has been "written out of the history books." Tesla worked for mega-financier J.P. Morgan, who panicked when he realized that what Tesla was inventing could not be charged for or metered, and would eventually make fossil fuels obsolete. Seifer said that Tesla should be remembered for his two greatest inventions: The multiphase (or AC) electrical current system, and the development of continuous wave radio.

Hour three guest Tim Eaton is writing a screenplay about the life of Tesla along with Seifer. Entitled Tesla: The Lost Wizard, the movie will be a fictionalized account of his life and work. Eaton's story focuses on what he and his co-writer see as the three main conflicts in Tesla’s life: his struggles with Thomas Edison, Guglielmo Marconi, and J.P. Morgan, and how these men appropriated Tesla’s ideas (or had inferior inventions) and attempted to suppress his legacy. The screenplay takes elements of Tesla’s personal life and adapts them for dramatic effect. Tesla designed the first large-scale electric lighting for the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893, and the story features a scene on a ferris wheel, which was also a complete novelty at the time. One caller asked about Tesla’s religious beliefs, to which Eaton replied that he was "probably a bleeding-edge Universalist" who lived by moral virtues, and not any literal interpretations of his childhood faith of Christianity.

* In the first hour, Andrew D. Basiago discussed the history of Tesla technology that he says was developed after WWII in order to teleport people and objects. Basiago says that Tesla laid the groundwork and "designed the technical infrastructure of the 21st century." Confirming the rumors that Tesla’s effects were seized by the U.S. Government at his death in 1943, he claimed that the papers and notes of the great inventor that had any value to national security were spirited away to the National Archives. Basiago believes that these papers were given to Los Alamos National Laboratories, which led to the development of teleportation and eventually, time travel technology. Basiago says that he was part of testing of these devices when he was a child and his father worked at the lab.

During Open Lines, Jimmy encouraged all of the callers to say "happy birthday" to Tesla. Giovanni called in from Beverly Hills to mention his concern over the use of Ouija boards and channeling. He was also certain that ancient megalithic structures had been built with acoustic (sound) technology. Jim in Washington asked if Tesla had invented any medical devices. Jimmy thought that perhaps some of his inventions were direct descendants of imaging technology such as MRI machines. Linda gave a warning about Tesla's ideas and predicted that "we are going to pay a price for misusing these gifts to mankind."

Inside Fukushima’s Radioactive Ghost Towns

A group of audacious and possibly foolhardy urban explorers have captured haunting images from the abandoned cities near Japan's infamous Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Keow Wee Loong and a pair of friends made the ill-advised trek to four cities which were once brimming with human activity but have now been rendered 'ghost towns' due to the 2011 radioactive disaster.

Evacuated in the immediate aftermath of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that wreaked havoc on the region, the cities provide a chilling glimpse of the lives that were interrupted by those fateful events.

Loong and his cohorts found a bevy of veritable treasures in the form of money, gold and jewelry that had been left behind by fleeing residents of the area.

They also spotted some eerily poetic scenes like a load of laundry that had been forsaken in the midst of what was presumably a chaotic escape.

In order to venture into these 'exclusion zones,' Loong and company had to stealthily maneuver around police patrols of the area during the middle of the night.

But perhaps the most unnerving aspect of their adventure was that the group opted to only wear gasmasks during their exploration and donned no other protective clothing.

Considering the dangerous levels of radiation believed to still permeate the area, this may turn out to be a trip that the explorers regret in the future ... More here

"In the first half, author and adventurer Robert Young Pelton, who has traveled around the world working with private military contractors, discussed the instability in the Middle East, his work helping refugees, the globalization of borders, various secret wars and conflicts, and the political climate in the United States. There are some 65 million people that are currently displaced from their homes, the highest number since WWII, he reported. Unresolved warfare and economic problems contribute to the problem, and in some places it's actually cheaper to pay a smuggler than it is to fly to Europe, he noted. But the crisis in Europe is quite severe, with some 23% of refugees from Syria and Africa drowning or dying as they attempt to complete the journey, he lamented.

Pelton talked about the mechanics of how ISIS has grown, and is funded. Composed of predominantly young people, armed ISIS members have taken over towns in Iraq and Syria, where they demand money from local governance and oil field operators, and then distribute the cash among their fighters, rather than using banks. They also use a Western Union-like system called Hawala to transfer money, he detailed.

One trend that Pelton has observed is that the US is empowering groups that would normally not have access to a lot of weapons to fight their wars, "and we're not winning those wars." Whether Clinton or Trump wins, he predicts they will both be "war presidents," trying to shore up their divisive support by getting the US involved in conflicts. "Hillary has shown that she has no problem destabilizing Libya or Syria, so I think we're looking at a very different change over the next eight years," he remarked. The US is in a kind of war with the Chinese right now, Pelton continued. "Electronically, the Chinese are insidiously attacking our businesses, our intellectual property, and government bases," he commented."

"In the third hour, cyber technology expert Charles R. Smith talked about the FBI, as being "America's secret police," with a force of covert planes that employ "stingray" electronic surveillance. As uncovered by the North Star Post, the FBI has created around 10 shell companies, and through them acquired about 100 small airplanes that they have outfitted with high resolution and infrared cameras, and cell phone interceptors. These aircraft are flying reconnaissance missions over America to surveil its own citizens, listen in on cell phone calls, and monitor text messaging, he said. Smith was critical of these operations, and considers them to be a major privacy invasion-- monitoring Americans without a warrant."

Photo of fatal wreck goes viral after people claim to see spirit above victim’s body

"STANTON, KY. – A chilling photo taken at the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash in Kentucky is getting a lot of attention online. Many Facebook users say the photo shows the motorcycle driver’s spirit leaving his body.

According to Lex 18 News, the crash occurred in Powell County, Kentucky, on Tuesday evening around 5:30 p.m. A motorcyclist was seriously injured after crashing on Highway 15 near Stanton. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Saul Vazquez of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, says he witnessed the photo while in his truck and took a picture of the accident.

“Zoom in and pay attention to the shadow just off the top of the state trooper hat. All I say is I hope everyone involved is okay!!” wrote Stanton in the Facebook post.

Many people believe the photo shows the motorcycle driver’s spirit leaving his body. Regardless, it’s certainly sparking a lot of conversation.

Vazquez told Lex 18 News that the picture has not been altered.

The photo has been shared thousands of times in less than 24 hours after Vazquez posted it."

Russian satellite's 121-megapixel image of Earth is most detailed yet

"There's been a long history of NASA-provided "Blue Marble" images of Earth, but now we're getting a different perspective thanks to photos taken by the Elektro-L No.1 Russian weather satellite. Unlike NASA's pictures, this satellite produces 121-megapixel images that capture the Earth in one shot instead of a collection of pictures from multiple flybys stitched together. The result is the highest-resolution single picture of Earth yet. The image certainly looks different than what we're used to seeing, and that's because the sensor aboard the weather satellite combines data from three visible and one infrared wavelengths of light, a method that turns vegetation into the rust color that dominates the shot.

An educator named James Drake obtained over 350 full-resolution photos from the NTs OMZ (Russian Research Center for Earth Operative Monitoring), and used them to make several videos showcasing a day in the life of Earth. The satellite takes a full image of Earth from its stationary point over 35,000 kilometers above the Indian Ocean every 30 minutes, providing the material for the video below. The images have a resolution of one kilometer per pixel, and the one you see above was taken on May 14, 2011. The infrared light is reflected by forests and vegetation, which appear orange in these images.

"Joining Richard Syrett in the first half, David G. Yurth, principal inventor and co-founder of Nova Institute of Technology, presented an update on his compact, lightweight, low-cost energy efficient device that eradicates all exhaust fumes produced by internal combustion engines before they leave the tailpipe. We have "pioneered a method that enables us to attack the structure of the CO2 molecule in the exhaust system before it escapes into the environment," he explained. The plasma/ionization technology could be fitted into the back end of an existing tail pipe, in which gases such as carbon dioxide would be molecularly disassembled, eliminating pollution at its source, he continued.

While most auto companies have been resistant to Yurth's innovations, Volkswagen recently expressed some interest, before suddenly breaking off contact, he reported. Yurth also discussed his groundbreaking technology that could remediate nuclear waste from a nuclear power plant. While his team demonstrated that it could reduce dangerous levels of radiation to non-detectable amounts, the technology was rejected by the nuclear power industry, he lamented. This happened, he claimed, because the waste from nuclear plants is needed for a process to help create weapons-grade plutonium."

"In the latter half, bee expert, George Scott, spoke about the importance of bees to the planet, why their numbers are dwindling, and what we can do to stop them from disappearing altogether. There is little question that the honey bee die-offs and 'colony collapse disorder' are due to the increased use of neonicotinoids, a class of agricultural insecticides resembling nicotine, he remarked. The insecticides are also widely used by non-farmers such as for flea collars for dogs, and urban pest control companies. The chemical effects are cumulative, and the neonicotinoids degrade very slowly in certain climates, he added.

Accepting that neonicotinoids are here to stay for the time being, Scott has focused his efforts on developing ways to mitigate their effects. One beekeeping method is too install new queen bees in order to preserve the hive, as the longer the queen has been around, the more chance she will have become disoriented by the chemicals, he detailed. Another strategy is tracking when plants treated with the neonicotinoids are flowering, and feeding the bees an alternative food source during this time, so they don't fly to the flowers. Scott said they are also importing Carpathian bees from Ukraine, where the quality control is extremely high."

Mantidfly - Looks like Praying Mantis and Wasp

This little guy is a mantidfly, and is a wasp mimic. I named him Tyler Durden. Tyler Durden is totally harmless, but looks way awesome. I had him for four days. Tyler is not afraid of anything, you can pick him up and he doesn't even react. I fed him about a half dozen flies before I let him go. I only saw him fly once, and that is when he flew away, never to be seen again.

I have no idea whether this mantidfly was really male or female.

The video was filmed with a Canon SX-20IS. Nothing fancy, but the macro focus on it is great.
I found Tyler in my back yard in Provo, UT.

On the economy crashing this year, investment banker and former Assistant Secretary of Housing, Catherine Austin Fitts says, “Could we turn into a bear market? I think given the commitment to equity markets and given the willingness to debase the currency, I think the chances of that are relatively small this year. Next year, depending on what happens in the election, the gloves are going to come off globally about what’s been going on in the U.S. Anything could happen. That’s the danger if you are an investment advisor or an investor. The swings here is we could be up 30%, or we could be down 50%. A black swan could happen, so if you are an investor, you need to be prepared for very, very wide swings both up and down in prices in the equity markets. Here’s the important thing to remember. . . . We now have $12 trillion sitting in negative interest rates. Where’s all that money going to go? It can’t sit there getting nothing. It will have to go into real estate. It’s going to have to go into equity. It’s going to have to go to precious metals because it can’t sit there getting no or negative yields forever. . . . The debt game is over.”

On gold and silver, Fitts says, “Interest rates coming down makes gold and silver more attractive. I think the number one thing driving precious metals is you’ve still got growth going on in Asia, and they are buyers. People are afraid, and they are looking at what is going on with the leadership, and they are getting scared. They want to hedge their bets, and gold and silver is where you go when you don’t trust the system.”

"In the first half, complexity scientist Samuel Arbesman addressed how our technological systems are becoming too advanced for human comprehension. The same technological advances that have simplified our lives have made the systems governing our lives overly complicated, and even dangerous at times, he argues. While we reap the benefits of more complex and sophisticated technology and software, when there's a problem, a variety of interconnecting systems can be affected in ways that aren't always predictable, he cautioned. Our new amalgams of technology might have millions and millions of variables, and we end up with a mismatch between the kinds of things that humans are really good at understanding, such as small linear operations, and the complex variations in these systems, he explained.

Arbesman enthused over the rise of computational creativity and human-machine partnerships, citing the example of how a computer playing chess with the aid of a human, can actually play better than just a computer alone. He also spoke about the renaissance happening with AI, such as with self-driving cars, computer-generated writing, the ability to recognize and categorize images, and translating languages. These advances are really changing our perception about what technology can do, he remarked."

"In the latter half, M.J. Evans, Ph.D., a professor emeritus at SUNY Empire State College, spoke about the work of the late Zecharia Sitchin. She was acquainted with Sitchin for nearly 20 years, and accompanied him on several tours to ancient sites in the Mediterranean region. His groundbreaking research based on translations of Sumerian cuneiform, proposed that an ET race called the Anunnaki came to Earth from Nibiru, a planet in our solar system on a long elliptical orbit. Once here, they genetically altered proto-humans so they could work as gold mining slaves.

Sitchin said they were two types of Anunnaki, one was the leadership, who were known as the Nephilim, the other were the rank and file workers, Evans pointed out. Eventually, there was a battle between Nephilim factions, and atomic weapons were used on seven locations, including a spaceport in the Sinai Peninsula, she continued. As I’ve said before, there are really only two or three kinds of actual “news” stories on TV these days. ‘News’ reports on which is the latest community to get washed or blown away, ‘news’ reports on what sensitive social issue is being exploited to foment protest and uprising, and ‘news’ about what coordinated cookie-cutter terrorist operation to foment fear and division, are the only real ‘news’ events on the news. Ironically, all three are also manufactured and could also really be considered ‘one thing,’ but everything else on the news is straight manufactured sideshow and diversion" ...

"In the first half, research physicist and author Stan Deyo discussed his most recent work, a startling new theory on the location of Atlantis. He believes that an enormous asteroid impacted Earth around 2200 – 2300 BC, leaving a crater some 250 miles in diameter, part of which is along the eastern coastline of India. The crater was covered up because it shoved the surface of India up over the ocean bed up toward the Himalayas when it hit, he explained. Before the impact, Atlantis was a huge island that included the Arabian peninsula, Deyo suggested. Marzulli and writer/producer Richard Shaw spoke about their latest 'Watchers' documentary (view excerpt (http://www.coasttocoastam.com/pages/excerpt-from-watchers-10-the-fairy)) and presented updates on the testing of an elongated Peruvian skull, an odd winged humanoid creature, giants, and other strange anomalies. The two believe that some of the elongated skulls from Peru were not caused by deliberate cranial deformation but possibly represent some other type of genetics. One geneticist tested a skull sample and said that the mitochondrial DNA was completely unknown, Marzulli reported. An anomalous skull from a collection in Oregon was also examined, and one archaeologist found significant differences between it and a normal human skull, particularly with the opening at the spinal column, Shaw cited.

They also talked about the case of a giant said to be shot by a military pilot in Kandahar, Afghanistan after it impaled one of the other soldiers. "We’ve seen unlikely friendships among animals across the globe. Relationships like a gorilla and kitten friendship, and the elephant and dog duo have gone viral. Animals continue to wow us with their cross species interactions.

In this case, a pod of sperm whales has taken a physically deformed bottlenose in as a member of the squad. This is particularly surprising as sperm whales are not usually a species known to forge bonds with other animals.

The pod was spotted off the coast of Portugal in 2013 and monitored for eight days. During this time, they showed repetitive positive gestures. The dolphin rubs its body against the whales and even gets the same behavior in return.

The initial interaction may have been simply playful, or it could have had something to do with bow riding. This is when dolphins use the pressure waves caused by boats or in this situation, whales, to hitch a ride.

Despite however they met, these creatures are clearly enjoying each others company!

Dolphins are sociable beings, but this one was likely unable to keep up with its original pod. There are a couple theories on why the whales took in the loner as one of their own. Some scientists think that the behavior of the dolphin was considered nonthreatening, so the whales accepted its presence like they would a calf.

This sperm whale and dolphin interaction is pretty rare as there are no other documented cases. The dolphin is lucky to have found whales with calves of their own as this may have eased the acceptance.

Another theory was that the dolphin sought out company for protection. Being a lone dolphin out in the ocean is not an ideal safety situation because predators can easily approach a single prey. On top being alone, its abnormal shape would have certainly been a disadvantage.

Nobody actually knows the real reason why this unlikely family formed. But whatever the reason, seeing friendships and acceptance of others in the animal kingdom is something we can learn from and apply to our lives."

Strange Disappearances of Hunters

"David Paulides joined George Knapp in the first three hours to discuss his new book in his blockbuster series about people that have disappeared in the national forests and elsewhere. "Missing 411- Hunters" chronicles hunters who have vanished under very unusual but extremely similar conditions from four countries. In contrast to many of the those who've gone missing in national parks such as children, and people hiking alone, deer hunters and bear hunters-- "those people are attuned to being in the woods. They know exactly where they're going to go out and hunt, they know the terrain...the dangers. They carry weapons with them," he noted, so it's all the more startling when they vanish in inexplicable ways.

There are 59 geographical clusters of missing people in North America, with the largest being in Yosemite Park, he reported. The largest number of disappearances of hunters have taken place in the states of Idaho, Montana, Washington, Maine, Oregon, and Colorado, he cited. In one of the strangest case histories, three hunters disappeared in separate locations in far northern Michigan within seven days of each other in 1909. Paulides detailed the 1966 case of an accountant from Reno, who went hunting in McCarthy, Alaska and then was never found despite numerous air and ground searches. The Nevada State Journal had a headline saying "Tony walked into what has proven to be a mystery void."

Paulides also has documented cases of bow hunters' mysterious disappearances, in which they are either not found or found under very bizarre conditions. An experienced hunter, Aaron Hedges, was hunting with friends in the 'Crazy Mountains' in Montana in 2014, and get separated from the group, but was in contact with them via radio, before he went missing. A week after his disappearance, they found his boots and camelback in the snow, but ground searchers and dogs yielded no further evidence in the area. Nine months later, his backpack and vest were found, 15 miles away from the other location, yet it would seem impossible that he could have traveled that distance in the snow without shoes, Paulides noted.

He also shared advice for people planning to hike or hunt in the woods or national parks. Among the tips: tell someone you trust your planned itinerary, and that if they don't hear from you by a certain date that they should call authorities; carry a GPS trail device and hard copy of a map; pack a cheap, plastic whistle; bring a satellite phone and an emergency locator beacon. During the last hour, Paulides' son, Benjamin, spoke about their new documentary "Missing 411," which he co-directed. The just completed project, which was successfully funded by a Kickstarter campaign, is being considered by several film festivals."
