"Amid the torrent of stories about the shocking new revelations about the National Security Agency, few have bothered to ask a central question. Who’s actually doing the work of analyzing all the data, meta-data and personal information pouring into the agency from Verizon and nine key Internet Service Providers for its ever-expanding surveillance of American citizens?

Well, on Sunday we got part of the answer: Booz Allen Hamilton. In a stunning development in the NSA saga, Guardian reporter Glenn Greenwald revealed that the source for his blockbuster stories on the NSA is Edward Snowden, “a 29-year-old former technical assistant for the CIA and current employee of the defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton.” Snowden, it turns out, has been working at NSA for the last four years as a contract employee, including stints for Booz and the computer-services firm Dell.

The revelation is not that surprising. With about 70 percent of our national intelligence budgets being spent on the private sector - a discovery I made in 2007 and first reported in Salon – contractors have become essential to the spying and surveillance operations of the NSA.

From Narus, the Israeli-born Boeing subsidiary that makes NSA’s high-speed interception software, to CSC, the “systems integrator” that runs NSA’s internal IT system, defense and intelligence, contractors are making millions of dollars selling technology and services that help the world’s largest surveillance system spy on you. If the 70 percent figure is applied to the NSA’s estimated budget of $8 billion a year (the largest in the intelligence community), NSA contracting could reach as high as $6 billion every year.

But it’s probably much more than that.

“The largest concentration of cyber power on the plant is the intersection of the Baltimore Parkway and Maryland Route 32,” says Michael V. Hayden, who oversaw the privatization effort as NSA director from 1999 to 2005. He was referring not to the NSA itself but to the business park about a mile down the road from the giant black edifice that houses NSA’s headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland. There, all of NSA’s major contractors, from Booz to SAIC to Northrop Grumman, carry out their surveillance and intelligence work for the agency.

With many of these contractors now focused on cybersecurity, Hayden has even coined a new term – “Digital Blackwater” – for the industry. “I use that for the concept of the private sector in cyber,” he told a recent conference in Washington, in an odd reference to the notorious mercenary army. “I saw this in government and saw it a lot over the last four years. The private sector has really moved forward in terms of providing security,” he said. Hayden himself has cashed out too: he is now a principal with the Chertoff Group, the intelligence advisory company led by Michael Chertoff, the former Secretary of Homeland Security.

One of NSA’s most important contractors may be Narus, a subsidiary of Boeing that makes a key telecommunications software that allows government agencies and corporations to monitor huge amounts of data flowing over fiber-optic cables. According to Bill Binney, one of four NSA whistleblowers who’ve been warning about NSA’s immense powers, one Narus device can analyze 1,250,000 1,000-character emails every second. That comes to over 100 billion emails a day."

After the U.S. Senate voted to pass the motion to proceed to floor debate on the “Gang of Eight” immigration bill, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) claimed that this bill would solve illegal immigration and secure the border...


“Illegal immigration will be a thing of the past,” Schumer said on the Senate floor, celebrating the passage of the motion to proceed.

Schumer complained in an impassioned and lengthy speech on the Senate floor that opponents saying the bill does not have border security “is not fair.” Schumer said giving billions of dollars to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will lead to increased border security, even if illegal immigrants are given amnesty first. He promised that assurances of future border security measures would be followed through.

Nonetheless, Schumer admitted the bill “is not perfect.” He pleaded with other senators, “if you have a better idea" on how to secure the border, "tell us." Though Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Rand Paul (R-KY) have offered outlines of amendments that would improve the border security provisions in the bill, Schumer did not say he would support them.

Schumer said the Gang of Eight would not compromise by conditioning the path to citizenship on “factors that may not ever happen” like border security. He complained that border security should not be used as a “bargaining chip.”

And while Schumer claims the bill fixes enforcement issues, he also dismissed border security as not a real pressing concern.

“We don't have a problem whereby these people [illegal immigrants] are besieging us with terrorist acts,” Schumer said.

Schumer also said he has been to the border with other Gang of Eight senators and said “it’s huge.”

The Department of Homeland Security has gone public with an admission that an exercise was planned months before the Boston Marathon bombings that involved backpacks being used to detonate explosives by rogue terrorists...

"According to the DHS documents acquired by the Boston Globe, the agents were planning on conducting training exercises centered around a fictitious terrorist group called ‘Free America Citizens’, a group that would plant backpacks full of explosives around Boston that the detectives would be forced to track down. Ultimately, of course, this ended up happening at the Boston Marathon itself with precise accuracy. The Globe report reads that “the city was hit with a real terrorist attack executed in a frighteningly similar fashion.”

And the DHS isn’t denying that the training exercise manifested itself at the Boston Marathon, as detailed in the back-end article on the Boston Globe that I discovered while browsing the news.

“The real thing happened before we were able to execute,” a Boston police official told the Boston Globe in the report...

The exercise, labeled as “Operation Urban Shield,” was funded by a $200,000 Homeland Security grant. It was planned months before the Boston Marathon, and it was scheduled to ‘take place’ in official capacity this weekend, according to the sources. But the exercise admission lends further credence to the ignored eyewitness account of bomb sniffing dogs and bomb squads running a training exercise during the morning of the Boston Marathon. Was this training exercise part of Operation Urban Shield?

Interestingly, they specifically detailed that this terrorist group (that presumably is based off of ‘right wing extremists’ and the sovereign citizens movement) would carry a logo of a metal skull wearing an Uncle Sam hat. I’m not claiming there’s a relationship, but I find it funny that even their logo matched up with real events from the Boston Marathon bombings. It was in fact the apparent security at the event that was spotted wearing clothing adorning the image of skulls that turned out to be the logo for the Craft International private security firm.

I will be reporting more on Operation Urban Shield as more information becomes available."

What Is The Government’s Agenda ?

"It has been public information for a decade that the US government secretly, illegally, and unconstitutionally spies on its citizens. Congress and the federal courts have done nothing about this extreme violation of the US Constitution and statutory law, and the insouciant US public seems unperturbed.

In 2004 a whistleblower informed the New York Times that the National Security Agency (NSA) was violating the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) by ignoring the FISA court and spying on Americans without obtaining the necessary warrants. The corrupt New York Times put the interests of the US government ahead of those of the American public and sat on the story for one year until George W. Bush was safely reelected.

By the time the New York Times published the story of the illegal spying one year later, the law-breaking government had had time to mitigate the offense with ex post facto law or executive orders and explain away its law-breaking as being in the country’s interest.

Last year William Binney, who was in charge of NSA’s global digital data gathering program revealed that NSA had everyone in the US under total surveillance. Every email, Internet site visited and phone call is captured and stored. In 2012 Binney received the Callaway Award for Civic Courage, an annual award given to those who champion constitutional rights at risk to their professional and personal lives.

There have been a number of whistleblowers. For example, in 2006 Mark Klein revealed that AT&T had a secret room in its San Francisco office that NSA used to collect Internet and phone-call data from US citizens who were under no suspicion.

The presstitute media handled these stories in ways that protected the government’s lawlessness from scrutiny and public outrage. The usual spin was that the public needs to be safe from terrorists, and safety is what the government is providing.

The latest whistle blower, Edward Snowden, has sought refuge in Hong Kong, which has a better record of protecting free speech than the US government. Snowden did not trust any US news source and took the story to the British newspaper, the Guardian.

There is no longer any doubt whatsoever that the US government is lawless, that it regards the US Constitution as a scrap of paper, that it does not believe Americans have any rights other than those that the government tolerates at any point in time, and that the government has no fear of being held accountable by the weak and castrated US Congress, the sycophantic federal courts, a controlled media, and an insouciant public.

Binney and Snowden have described in precisely accurate detail the extreme danger from the government’s surveillance of the population. No one is exempt, not the Director of the CIA, US Army Generals, Senators and Representatives, not even the president himself.

Anyone with access to a computer and the Internet can find interviews with Binney and Snowden and become acquainted with why you do have very much indeed to fear whether or not you are doing anything wrong.

James Clapper, the lying Director of National Intelligence, who would have been perfectly at home in the Hitler or Stalin regimes, condemned Snowden as “reprehensible” for insisting that in a democracy the public should know what the government is doing. Clapper is “offended” that Americans now know that the NSA is spying on the ordinary life of every American. Clapper wants Snowden to be severely punished for his “reckless disclosure” that the US government is totally violating the privacy that the US Constitution guarantees to every US citizen.

President Obama, allegedly educated in constitutional law, justified Clapper’s program of spying on every communication of every American citizen as a necessary violation of Americans’ civil liberties that “protects your civil liberties.” Contrast the lack of veracity of the President of the United States with the truthfulness of Snowden, who correctly stated that the NSA spying is an “existential threat to democracy.”

The presstitutes are busy at work defending Clapper and Obama. On June 9, CNN rolled out former CIA case officer Bob Baer to implant into the public’s mind that Snowden, far from trying to preserve US civil liberties, might be a Chinese spy and that Snowden’s revelations might be indicative of a Chinese espionage case.

Demonization is the US government’s technique for discrediting Bradley Manning for complying with the US Military Code and reporting war crimes and for persecuting Julian Assage of Wikileaks for reporting leaked information about the US government’s crimes. Demonization and false charges will be the government’s weapon against Snowden.

If Washington and its presstitutes can convince Americans that courageous people, who are trying to inform Americans that their historic rights are disappearing into a police state, are espionage agents of foreign powers, America can continue to be subverted by its own government.

This brings us to the crux of the matter. What is the purpose of the spying program?

Even if an American believes the official stories of 9/11 and the Boston Marathon Bombing, these are the only two terrorist acts in the US that resulted in the loss of human life in 12 years. Far more people are killed in traffic accidents and from bad diets. Why should the Constitution and civil liberty be deep-sixed because of two alleged terrorist acts in 12 years?

What is astounding is the absence of terrorist attacks. Washington is in the second decade of invading and destroying Muslim governments and countries. Civilian casualties in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya are extremely high, and in those countries that Washington has not yet invaded, such as Pakistan, Yemen, and Syria, civilians are being murdered by Washington’s drones and proxies on the ground.

It is extraordinary that Washington’s brutal 12 year assault on Muslim lives in six countries has not resulted in at least one dozen real, not fake FBI orchestrated, terrorist attacks in the US every day.

How can something as rare as terrorism justify the destruction of the US Constitution and US civil liberty? How safe is any American when their government regards every citizen as a potential suspect who has no rights?

Why is there no discussion of this in American public life? Watch the presstitutes turn Snowden’s revelations into an account of his disaffection and motives and away from the existential threat to democracy and civil liberty.

What is the government’s real agenda? Clearly, “the war on terror” is a front for an undeclared agenda. In “freedom and democracy” America, citizens have no idea what their government’s motives are in fomenting endless wars and a gestapo police state. The only information Americans have comes from whistleblowers, who Obama ruthlessly prosecutes. The presstitutes quickly discredit the information and demonize the whistleblowers.

Germans in the Third Reich and Soviet citizens in the Stalin era had a better idea of their government’s agendas than do “freedom and democracy” Americans today. The American people are the most uninformed people in modern history.

In America there is no democracy that holds government accountable. There is only a brainwashed people who are chaff in the wind."

"For the most part, we humans are better at things than we were thousands of years ago. But there are some things the ancients had down pat. Roman concrete, for instance, is just way better than anything we can whip up today. Finally, after some 2,000 years, modern-day scientists have figured it out. And it’s a secret worth knowing.

Concrete, while often not exactly pretty, is a super important tool of city-building today. We’ve been using Portland cement (an ingredient in concrete) as a binder for nearly 200 years as a building block of modern architecture, but it just can’t hold a candle to that old Roman stuff. There are concrete harbors in Italy that are still doing pretty damn well after thousands of years. Meanwhile, a modern-day Portland cement structure is lucky to last 50 years when exposed to saltwater.

Now, after years of research in labs across the US and Europe, scientists have figured out that the most robust Roman concrete is a specific mixture of lime and volcanic rock, the details of which have been published in this month’s issues of the Journal of the American Ceramic Society and American Mineralogist.

The researchers described it this way in a press release on the subject:


The Romans made concrete by mixing lime and volcanic rock. For underwater structures, lime and volcanic ash were mixed to form mortar, and this mortar and volcanic tuff were packed into wooden forms. The seawater instantly triggered a hot chemical reaction. The lime was hydrated – incorporating water molecules into its structure – and reacted with the ash to cement the whole mixture together.

And it gets even better. Portland cement is environmentally messy to produce, accounting for some seven percent of the C02 modern industry produces. Roman concrete? Much, much greener. There's still a lot of work to be done in adapting traditional Roman construction techniques to today's needs. But the recipe is as good as ever. We just have to get cookin".

Johns Hopkins Scientist Blasts CDC for Pushing Flu Shot

"Federal health authorities vastly overstate the benefits of the flu shot and, for most healthy people, vaccination is unnecessary at best and potentially risky at worst, a Johns Hopkins scientist tells Newmax’s Steve Malzberg.

Peter Doshi, an influenza expert with the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, contends vaccines pushed by health authorities are less effective and cause more side effects than acknowledged by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Doshi, who recently published a withering report on influenza vaccines in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), says the studies that inform CDC’s flu policy show the vaccine doesn’t cover all strains of flu, and that life-threatening complications from influenza are fairly rare, but side effects can be serious.

“I’m not convinced that influenza is a major public health threat so I have problems with the overarching policy [pushing flu shots], but on a personal level I fit in the healthy adults [category] and so influenza’s particularly not a threat for me and for most healthy adults,” says Doshi, noting he doesn’t get the flu shot himself.

“This is a disease which is unpleasant if you do get it and most people don’t get it — it’s far more rare than we think — and this is again one of the big problems … we’re lead to think that everybody’s getting it and everyone is at risk for serious complications. The risk is quite a bit lower than we’re led to believe.”

Doshi also notes that the vaccine approved every year doesn’t protect against all circulating strains of the flu, so it doesn’t offer the protection against flu complications it’s believed to confer. The flu is caused by many different viral and microbial strains, with just one in six cases of flu actually tied to influenza, he argues.

"So if you imagine this as the perfect vaccine that works 100 percent of the time that means it’s going to work against one in six flu [cases]," he says. "You would think it would work 100 percent of the time but it's not.

ObamaCare: You Can Win With The Facts

"The other side is even if you do want to reduce whatever small [flu] risk there may be, it’s not clear at all that influenza vaccines are going to prevent the serious outcomes that really the reason the vaccine exists. If you want to take the vaccine to lower your risk of having influenza, there is some evidence that it does do that but … you need to vaccinate between 33 and 100 healthy adults for just one of those people to avoid having influenza."

Doshi notes that promoting influenza vaccines is one of the most aggressive public health policies in the United States, with drug companies and public officials pressing for widespread vaccination each fall.

CDC officials argue flu vaccines are important because influenza comes with a risk of serious complications that can cause death, especially in seniors and those with chronic illnesses. The agency cites two studies of influenza vaccines — published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and carried out by academic and government researchers with non-commercial funding — that both found a large (up to 48 percent) reduction in the risk of death.

But Doshi argues those reported reduction in death rates may be due to the "healthy-user effect" — the tendency for healthier people to be vaccinated more than less-healthy people. What’s more, other research on the effects of influenza vaccine in older people found no decrease in deaths and a study released in February found that the flu shot was only 9 percent effective in protecting seniors against the 2012-2013 season's most virulent influenza bug.

"People are lead to hold these unrealistically high expectations of what this vaccine can do given all the marketing around it when there’s no reason to have those high expectations," Doshi contends.

Doshi says marketing the flu shot is big business, but even otherwise well-meaning doctors and health officials get caught up in promoting the vaccine.

"There’s money involved everywhere but that, I don’t think, is really how to understand or explain why a lot of people with good intentions like your own doctor are also unaware of most of the evidence here," he says. "Your doctor is not likely doing his own homework on this. They’re relying on sources like CDC to tell us what the evidence says...

"And … have you ever heard the phrase, don't just stand there, do something? Well no matter how bad the evidence might look for this vaccine — how poor the effectiveness might be — if there’s something, they take the position that something is always better than nothing."

The problem, he adds, is that the flu vaccine — like all medicine — carries a risk of side effects.

"I don’t want to put any false scares out here because mostly this appears to be a safe vaccine [but] that doesn’t mean that harms don’t occur," he notes. "So when we think that this is risk free we’re wrong. In fact in Australia and Sweden and Finland they had some serious [flu-shot-related] adverse events that nobody predicted that occurred just in 2009."

Tattoos of Chinese characters have long been a fad in the West as a way of denoting the mystique of their bearers.

But in a reversal of the trend, Chinese ink parlours are reporting a sudden craze among their clients for tattoos in English.

Zhang Aiping, a tattooist at Tattoo 108 in Shanghai, said: "Around 30 per cent to 40 per cent of our customers are choosing tattoos in English letters now. This has happened really suddenly, since the beginning of this year.

"I just did one a few days ago for a footballer at Shanghai Shenhua club. It said: 'I miss u forever'."

Tattoos have existed in China for thousands of years, but have been largely taboo under Communist Party rule.

Only in the last five years have scores of tattoo parlours sprung up, operating in a grey zone of legality.

Chinese clients have been inspired by footballers such as David Beckham and American basketball stars.

Mr Beckham sports a tattoo in Chinese characters, inked on a trip to Hong Kong, which reads: "Death and life have determined appointments. Riches and honour depend on heaven".

Others have been less felicitous with their choice of Chinese words, with combinations that leave native speakers scratching their heads.

One Chinese tattooist said he had seen a Westerner with the character meaning "gas" on his arm, instead of "spirit".

Marcus Camby, a basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers, has two enormous characters on his upper arm with no obvious meaning in Chinese.

In China, meanwhile, the motivation for choosing English letters is simple – any foreign language is mysterious and exotic.

At Tattoo 007, Zhu Jian has inked a variety of English phrases, some more grammatically correct than others, including "Mr Lonely", "Best love in my life" and "I belong to the god and it bless me".

He founded his parlour in 2002, in a residential building in a central Shanghai suburb.

"We get 20 to 30 customers a month, and import our paint and needles from Europe," said Mr Zhu, who charges an average of 1000 yuan (£100) per tattoo, the equivalent of a factory worker's monthly salary.

"We get mostly college students, but we have also had doctors, professors and bankers. Tattoos of letters have become very popular since last year, with around three out of ten people going for them. They are simple and graceful," he said. "Quite a few just copy the tattoo of their favourite stars, like Beckham or Angelina Jolie."

Yang Enna, a 22-year-old television producer in Shanghai, said: "English tattoos are just more special. They are very trendy and they say something about my personality.

"They are much simpler compared to Chinese characters and can hold deep meanings. English letters can be used as acronyms so your privacy is protected and people are curious about what you have written on your arms.

"If I had tattoos in Chinese, everyone would immediately know what they meant," she said.

Let's take another trip down the rabbit hole, shall we?

Lost in the Edward Snowden debate is a critical look at his former employer, the company doing the spying on Americans in the first place: Booz Allen Hamilton.

Booz Allen Hamilton is a government contractor, with 99% of its revenue coming from the US government. Not only does it receive money from the NSA, but also the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and ... the IRS. In addition, Booz Allen is heavily connected to the CIA.

Among the individuals involved in running the company, we have:

James Clapper - current Director of National Intelligence (DNI), head of NSA, the man who lied to Congress about the fat that NSA is actively spying on Americans, is a former executive

Mike McConnell - a current executive of the company, had Clapper's job (DNI) during George W. Bush's administration (keep it in the family, eh?) -- he worked for Booz Allen before Bush, then worked for Bush, then back to Booz Allen after Bush

James Woolsey - former CIA Director, current executive (see Jan Helfeld's interview of Mr. Woolsey where it becomes clear that Woolsey has no interest in discussing principles, only war)

Melissa Hathaway - former executive, also worked for McConnell during the Bush administration.

Ian Brzezinski - former executive, son of Zbigniew Brzezinski, co-founder of the Trilateral Commission with David Rockefeller, central figure in the NWO crowd, and mastermind of Operation Cyclone

2004 - Goes to work for Booz Allen Hamilton.

2012 - Advisor on Middle East policy for Mitt Romney campaign (gee ... ya think Romney would have gone to war in the Middle East???)

Booz Allen Hamilton is owned by the Carlyle Group.

One of the big investors in the Carlyle Group was the Bin Laden family in Saudi Arabia. Yeah ... THAT Bin Laden family. And instrumental in being the "go between" for Carlyle/Bin Laden was a guy by the name of George H. W. Bush. Maybe you've heard of him?

The CEO of the Carlyle Group (remember, they OWN Booz Allen Hamilton) is Frank Carlucci. Mr. Carlucci has quite a resume:

Carter Administration - Deputy Director of the CIA

Reagan Administration - National Security Advisor and Secretary of Defense (Donald Rumsfeld is Carlucci's protoge)

He is or has been with the Project for a New American Century and a member of the Board of Trustees for the RAND Corporation, a CIA front that develops policies that the Military Industrial Complex then carries out.

You want a NWO guy? Carlucci is your man. And CEO of Carlyle Group, owner of Booz Allen Hamilton, spying on YOU.

At RAND, his specialty was Middle East policy. What do you know? That was also the specialty of Graham Fuller, CIA guy who was the father-in-law of Ruslan Tsarni, uncle of Tamarlan Tsarnev, suspected Boston bomber.

Speaking of the Boston bombing and Tamarlan Tsarnev, he had a couple of trips to Russia that made the news. But what did not make the news (in America, but it did in Russia) is that he went there for "training" that was funded by the Jamestown Foundation. And what do you know? The Jamestown Foundation (CIA front) has among its past board members none other than Dick Cheney and Marcia Carlucci, wife of Frank Carlucci.

Given all their connections and government contracts, here's an interesting question: Booz Allen Hamilton has not only been involved in spying via the NSA, but they have also received no-bid contracts from the IRS. What do they know about the American people via the IRS?

Now, one of the things you will start to see if you look around at some of the big corporations these days is that many of them are involved in what they call "corporate citizenship" or something similar. What this means at the surface level is they are being "good citizens" by donating to charity. But when you go beyond the surface, you will see something else going on.

Booz Allen Hamilton donates money to the Clinton Global Initiative. The CGI is a part of the Clinton Foundation (yeah, THAT Clinton).

The Clinton Foundation has been implicated in bribery on an international level. Clinton gave himself a special little privilege while president wherein he exempted the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation from the normal rules of disclosure regarding publicly listing who its contributors were. It's a secret foundation. And it has over $200 million in assets now. And is alleged to be used as a way to funnel black money from corrupt governments around the world for behind-the-scenes deals like special oil contracts, arms dealing, US government foreign aid deals, whatever.

So folks, what you are not being told in the media about Edward Snowden's former company is that it is not only spying on you, but it is probably checking out your tax returns, too, and also receiving some of your tax money in government contracts, which it then funnels to CIA-connected/Military Industrial Complex-connected/NWO-connected individuals and organizations.

Something like this: Your tax money (taken from you by force) -> IRS -> Booz Allen Hamilton -> Clinton Foundation -> foreign bribes -> more contracts for the Military Industrial Complex -> more spending by foreign governments -> more foreign aid from the US government -> more US government spending -> more taxes needed -> more taxes from YOU.

Oh ... and they are spying on you, too.

But Edward Snowden ... yeah HE is the bad guy here. Uh huh ... move along ... nothing to see here."

The latest effort to distract attention from the NSA revelations is more absurd than most

When you give many interviews in different countries and say essentially the same thing over and over, as I do, media outlets often attempt to re-package what you've said to make their interview seem new and newsworthy, even when it isn't. Such is the case with this Reuters article today, that purports to summarize an interview I gave to the daily newspaper La Nacion of Argentina.

Like everything in the matter of these NSA leaks, this interview is being wildly distorted to attract attention away from the revelations themselves. • Jahar's high school, Cambridge Rindge and Latin, is famously diverse, but Jahar played down the fact that he was a Muslim. As his brother and mother became more religious, he did, however, attend a small Friday prayer group that met at lunchtime, and once got quite upset when a friend who'd converted to Islam talked about it in a casual way. The jets had intended to drop at a bombing range on a nearby island, but Tuesday's mission was aborted.

The AV-8B Harriers were low on fuel and could not land loaded, the navy added.

The emergency happened during the training exercise Talisman Saber, involving US and Australian military personnel.

The two jets had been instructed to target the bombing range on Townshend Island.

However, the mission was aborted when hazards were reported in the area.

The planes then dropped the bombs in the marine park off the coast of Queensland. None of the devices exploded.

Each bomb weighed 500lb (226kg), according to the US TV network NBC.

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral structure rich in marine life.

I’ve just completed a heavy schedule of talks at the Agora Financial Investment Symposium in Vancouver. All my talks centered on information economics, Web startups, and the productivity of the Internet and its meaning. As usual, I learned as much from the attendees as (I hope) they learned from my talks. The research I did to prepare blew my mind concerning the role that the digital revolution has played in our lives.

How huge has it become? Well, 2.5 billion people use the Internet every day, and that’s nearly 80% in North America, 67% in Europe, and 43% in Latin America. I suspect that Africa’s usage of 15.6% is actually underreported, because smartphones are flooding the continent by the day...

THE GOD OF GODS



God: the all-purpose, irrefutable justification, especially
for hating and killing and feeling good about it.

The word "God" has no objective meaning. This explains why there have been so many religions throughout the ages. In this report I show that the God which we currently know as the only God of the universe was originally thought of as being one of many gods. If believers wish to accept the Bible as the word of God, then we have his own admission that he is not the only god.

Early religions were polytheistic. In the Bible, God started out as a Jewish tribal god. By the early first century BCE, the definition changed to a Jewish God of the universe. In the early centuries CE there were many schools of thought at odds with each other. Modern Christianity arose through the efforts to unify God under one secular authority. There is more politics to religion than meets the eye.

One could argue that the modern definition reflected a growing awareness among religious authorities that God was more encompassing than earlier thought. The counter to that argument is that by making the definition of God universal, it expanded Church authority. It is because the Church set itself as the medium for knowing about God, that it is, in effect, marketing itself.

Without God's minions campaigning on his behalf, he would have become a forgotten relic. God needs your support because the organizations behind him need your patronage. In effect, faith in God translates to faith in Church authority.

To make my point, what is wrong with this picture? God, the creator of the universe, the super-intelligent being who is omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent and perfect in every way, can't get his message across without guidance from religious organizations.

In contrast, scientific discovery presents an opposing view of Nature as being devoid of any conscious activity. For argument's sake, if there was a creator God, his first laws have proven to be the inviolable laws of Nature. It is only within human imagination that such laws can be violated.

POLYTHEISM

Joshua explains that Abraham's ancestors served other gods.

2And Joshua said to all the people, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Your fathers lived of old beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods. (Joshua 24:2)

Jeremiah notes that for as many cities there are gods.

28But where are your gods that you made for yourself? Let them arise, if they can save you, in your time of trouble; for as many as your cities are your gods, O Judah. (Jer. 2:28)

In biblical days, it was a hard and fast rule for kingdoms to have their own god as a symbol of political prestige.

Elohim

The term Elohim is plural for god and is used 216 times in the Old Testament for "gods" and 2366 times for "God." The singular form of Elohim is Eloah and is used 55 times in place of "God." This mistranslation hides the pluralistic nature of the Hebrew god. To the Israelites, Elohim encompasses all supernatural beings: spirits, angels, demons, semi-gods and so forth. So whenever they appealed to Elohim, they were inferring the entire pantheon.

That these lesser beings are not gods is a matter of semantics. By pagan definition, they are all gods. For example, the Greek God, Mercury, was seen as a messenger god. To the ancient Jews, he would be the equivalent of an angel.

According to the Hebrew translation, there were many gods involved in creation. There was not one single god all by himself.

1In the beginning God [Elohim] created the heavens and the earth. (Gen. 1:1)
Gen. 1:2 explains the true meaning of Genesis 1:22, "Let us make man in our image."

26Then God [Elohim] said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." (Gen. 1:26)

We have evidence that many gods revealed themselves to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses.

2And God [Elohim] said to Moses, "I am the LORD.

3I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them.(Ex. 6:2-3)

Only 216 or about ten percent of the time, Elohim is properly interpreted as gods.
11Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods, [Elohim] because he delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians, when they dealt arrogantly with them." (Ex. 18:11)

A good example of how the English translations mislead can be found in Genesis 3:5. In the King James, the Serpent tells Eve she will be like the gods, knowing good from evil.

5For God [Elohim] doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods [Elohim], knowing good and evil. (Gen. 3:5 KJV)
Modern translations convert to the singular God to hide a critical embarrassment.
5For God [Elohim] knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God [Elohim], knowing good and evil." (Gen. 3:5)

Out of 55 times when the singular form of God, eloah appears, it appears 40 times in the book of Job. God is never addressed directly as eloah. The term is always applied indirectly.

9By the breath of God [eloah] they perish, and by the blast of his anger they are consumed. (Job 4:9)

If there were no other gods, Yahweh would have no reason to be jealous.
14You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are round about you;

15for the LORD your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; lest the anger of the LORD your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth. (Deut. 6:14-15)

14(for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), (Ex. 34:14)

God was so frustrated by the Israelites disloyalty that he grew to hate them. In reality, it was Jeremiah expressing his own hatred.

8My heritage has become to me like a lion in the forest, she has lifted up her voice against me; therefore I hate her .(Jer. 12:8)

God of Israel

The term, God of Israel, appears almost 200 times in the Old Testament. Simply, the phrase, God of Israel, designates the name of a national god, not the god of the universe.

1Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.'" (Ex. 5:1)

The God of Israel vows to enlarge the borders of Israel.

23Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the LORD God, the God of Israel.

24For I will cast out nations before you, and enlarge your borders; neither shall any man desire your land, when you go up to appear before the LORD your God three times in the year. (Ex. 34:23-24)

God of spirits

In this context, the God of spirits means the God of the dead.
16"Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation, (Num. 27:16)

God of gods

We see some braggadocio here. The Israelites claim their God is the supreme God of all gods. There can be no denial here that the biblical world is infested with deities and demons. See Alien Gods and God's Pantheon.

17For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. (Deut. 10:17)
1God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: (Ps. 82:1)

2O give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures for ever. (Ps. 136:2)

3O give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures for ever; (Ps. 136:3)

Lord-Names of

In the Ancient Near East, a number of deities were known be several names. For example, the Babylonia deity Marduk had 50 names, the Egyptian deity Re had 74 names, and Osiris had 100 to 142 names. Such deities also had hidden or secret names known only by certain priests who knew the proper way to invoke them without offense. The second reason was that it was believed that these hidden names were believed to give the speakers access to and influence with-and sometimes magical powers-over the named.

7"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. (Ex. 20:7)

This passage tells us about an Israelite woman who turned in her son to Moses for blaspheming God's name. We are not told what he said, but he was stoned to death shortly thereafter.

10Now an Israelite woman's son, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the people of Israel; and the Israelite woman's son and a man of Israel quarreled in the camp,
11and the Israelite woman's son blasphemed the Name, and cursed. And they brought him to Moses. His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.
12And they put him in custody, till the will of the LORD should be declared to them.
13And the LORD said to Moses,
14"Bring out of the camp him who cursed; and let all who heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
15And say to the people of Israel, Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin.
16He who blasphemes the name of the LORD shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him; the sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death. (Lev. 24:10-16)

Yehovah or Yahweh

"Lord" translates to Yehovah over 6,400 times in the Old Testament. Yehovah was originally conceived of as a local weather God, responsible for rain and fertility. Yehovah is now translated to "Yahweh."

8Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him.

9He bowed the heavens, and came down; thick darkness was under his feet.
10He rode on a cherub, and flew; he came swiftly upon the wings of the wind.
11He made darkness his covering around him, his canopy thick clouds dark with water.
12Out of the brightness before him there broke through his clouds hailstones and coals of fire.
13The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire.
14And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings, and routed them.
15Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare,
at thy rebuke, O LORD [Yehovah], at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. (Psalms 18:8-15)

It wasn't until the rise of the monarchy in Judah and Israel, did Yehovah rise to the status of a supreme god and universal weather god.

17For the LORD [Yehovah] your God [Elohim] is God [Elohim] of gods [Elohim] and Lord [Adon] of lords [Adon], the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. (Deut. 10:17)

5 For I know that the LORD [Yehovah] is great, and that our Lord [Adon] is above all gods [Elohim]. (Ps. 135:5)

Far from being friendly, ancients had to fear the Lord (Yahweh), who was more powerful than all the other deities.

10And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of you. (Deut. 28:10)

Jehovah

Jehovah can be found in the King James four times, translated from the Hebrew Yehovah. Other English versions typically translate to God. Yahweh is now the favored translation in place of Yehovah.

3And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. (Ex. 6:3 KJV)
18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. (Ps. 83:18, KJV)

2Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. (Isa. 12:2, KJV)
4Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: (Isa. 26:4, KJV)

Adonay

Lord translates to Adonay to denote the god of Israel. It is used 430 times in the Old Testament, with Ezekiel counting for over 200 times. Elsewhere, Lord is substituted for Yehovah over 6,400 times.

Adon

Lord translates to Adon 211 times.

3O give thanks to the Lord [Adon] of lords [Adon], for his steadfast love endures for ever; (Ps. 136:3)

Adonis originally meant lord, which is translated that way 211 times.
5For I know that the LORD [Yahweh] is great, and that our Lord [adon] is above all gods. (Ps. 135:5)

Lord of Hosts

The word "hosts" is a euphemism for the stars.

3Now this man used to go up year by year from his city to worship and to sacrifice to the LORD of hosts at Shiloh, where the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were priests of the LORD. (1 Sam 1:3)

WHO IS THE CREATOR?

To Jews, the one God of creation is Yahweh. To Christians, he is the Trinitarian God embodied in Jesus Christ. But according to Scripture, it is none of the above. In fact, both religions are as polytheistic as their pagan predecessors. Here is why.
The word God is not a proper noun such as John. With a capital G, it designates a title, like Mister or Sir. The same can be said of the word Lord. It is within these two title words, Lord and God, where the original definition is disguised by the translators.

In the ancient Near East all theistic religions believed in a supreme God who reigned above lesser gods; Judaism and Christianity were no exceptions. For example, to the ancient Egyptians, the supreme god was Ra. To the Greeks, he was Zeus. According to the pagan definition of all immortal beings as gods, Christianity is just as polytheistic. It is all a matter of semantics.

The question before us is what god or gods caused creation as defined by the first two verses of Genesis?

By mistranslating the true Hebrew name, Elohim, from the original texts for the generic name, God, readers are deceived into thinking of God as a singular entity. To repeat, the God of creation is not a Jewish or a Christian God. Elohim, in Hebrew means gods, spirits or lords. In the singular, it is El, meaning the supreme Canaanite god. Thus the early Hebrews worshipped the same God or gods as their heathen neighbors. So let's revise Gen. 1:1 to what it honestly says.

1In the beginning [the] God[s] created the heavens and the earth. (Gen 1:1)
The plurality of God gives true meaning to when the gods agreed to, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness." If the gods made man in their image, then it stands to reason that the gods are in the image of men and women. Not some three headed ethereal freak as the Christian god seems to be portrayed.

26Then [the] God[s] said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; (Gen. 1:26)

In the English translations, the word that denotes Yahweh is Lord. Another term we see in Genesis 2 is Lord God, which means Yahweh Elohim or Yahweh of the gods. As events turn out, Yahweh is nothing but a mythological tribal God among others which the heathen Israelites worshipped.

Several passages tell us that Jews did not claim Yahweh as their only God; he was merely the supreme to other gods. Other statements attest to this fact. Moses' father-in-law, Jethro, is made to say:

11Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods. (Ex. 18:11)
Moses and the Israelites are credited with this next statement.

11Who is like thee, O LORD, among the gods? (Ex. 15:11)

In the passage below, Yahweh is the most fearsome among a council of gods.

6For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD,
7a God feared in the council of the holy ones, great and terrible above all that are round about him? (Psalms 89:6-7)

Even in the Ten Commandments, God recognizes the existence of other gods. There is a big difference between, "you shall have no other gods" verses "there are no other gods."
3"You shall have no other gods before me. (Ex. 20:3)

Bear in mind that Christianity is on even shakier grounds in maintaining the existence of only one God. First, by canonizing Jewish Scripture, the Christian Fathers gave recognition to Yahweh and the pantheon of lesser gods mentioned by name throughout the Old Testament.

The supreme God El has been traced to the Amorite kingdom of Ugarit, located in North Syria. He was known as the creator, the supreme authority in all matters human and divine, the father of gods and men.

Associated with El is the young male God, Baal, the storm god. Associated with El and Baal were two female figures, Ashera and Anath, goddesses of fertility. The Ugarit (Babylonian) myths also feature two adversaries of Baal, Yam, the sea, and Mot, the destructive power of drought and sterility. In another interesting parallel with the biblical sea monster Deep, Yam is personified as dragon, serpent and Leviathan, representing the forces of chaos.

The Canaanite influence on the early Hebrews can be found by tracing the origins of the Hebrew language. The father of Jews, Abraham is said to come from "Ur of the Chaldeans" (Gen. 11:31). It's a safe bet that the Chaldean Abraham was an ordinary idol-worshipping heathen Syrian who never heard of Yahweh. Additionally, the Chaldeans were known for their expertise in astrology.

31Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan; but when they came to Haran, they settled there. (Gen. 11:31)

Abraham's son Jacob erected an altar to El of the gods.

20There he [Jacob] erected an altar and called it El-Elohe-Israel. (Gen. 33:20)

And El said to Jacob he is the supreme god of gods of his father.
3Then he said, "I am God [El], the God [Elohim] of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt; for I will there make of you a great nation. (Gen. 46:3)

According to the appendix of the American Heritage Dictionary, the Hebrew language branched off from the Canaanite language. Abraham spoke the dialect of his region in the days when Canaan was under Egyptian domination. Even Isaiah admits to that fact.

18In that day there will be five cities in the land of Egypt which speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the LORD of hosts. (Isaiah 19:18)
What kind of leader was the God of Abraham? Exodus 15:3 tells us he is, "the Lord is a man of war"-Yahweh is a war god. Drawing from Sarah and El, we get Israel, meaning a nation who worships a war god by the name of El. The marriage of Abraham and Sarah was the Bible's way of introducing the Jewish race by way of pun.
16I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her; I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall come from her. (Gen. 17:16)
Abraham is said to be married to Sarah (Gen. 17:15). Sarah comes from the Hebrew, Sar, meaning prince, ruler, leader, chief, chieftain, official, captain.
Certainly, Yahweh was not the god of creation.
Instead, what we learn is that the Jewish Patriarchs and the Israelites were Chaldean (Babylonian) speaking heathens until the time of the Exodus when Moses was first introduced to Yahweh during the burning bush incident. The colloquy between God and Moses demonstrates that Moses never knew or heard of Yahweh when he lived in Egypt.
13Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" (Ex. 3:13)
Since Moses grew up in Egypt, it can be understandable that he never heard of Yahweh until this time. But in these next passages we find out that the Chosen People never heard of Yahweh either.
13Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?" (Ex. 3:13)

Curiously, God tells Moses that his one true name is I AM, and it is to remain that way forever. As we shall see later, he gives Moses a different name.
14God said to Moses, "I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM WHO I AM has sent me to you.'"

15God also said to Moses, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you': this is my name for ever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations. (Ex. 3:14-15)

A CASE OF PIOUS MISTRANSLATION

Knowledgeable students of the Bible would probably agree with the above statements, arguing that God purposely did not reveal his true name before the time of Moses. In support, they cite Exodus 6:1-3, when God said he withheld his true name from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. So let's examine.

2And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
3And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. (KJV, Ex. 6:2-3)

Modern revisions such as the Revised Standard Version, which I normally cite, substitute Lord for Jehovah. To clear up this name confusion, Jehovah comes about as the English translation for the Hebrew YHVH. Traditionally, vowels are inserted to make the consonants pronounceable interchangeably as Yahveh or Yahweh.

2And God said to Moses, "I am the LORD.
3I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them. (Ex. 6:2-3)

Now that we have positive affirmation that the true name of the one true God is known interchangeably as Jehovah, Yahweh, Yahveh or YHVH, it would be reasonable to expect any of these names to be used throughout the Old Testament. Almost none of the English translations do this.

In the Hebrew versions, the word Jehovah appears 6,528 times. In the King James Version, it can be found four times: Ex. 6:3, Psalms 83:18, Isaiah 12:2 and 26:4. It contains none of the other iterations. The English revision to follow the King James was the American Standard Version which contains Jehovah 5,763 times.

4These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven. (Gen. 2:4 ASV)

Throughout all English translations, the name for the Canaanite God pantheon, Elohim, appears 2366 times as God and 216 times as gods. The name for the Canaanite supreme God, El, appears 224 times in Hebrew, but nowhere in the English translations.

In conclusion, if the English translators stuck to the original god names, they would not be able to deceive their readers into believing that Judaism was always a monotheistic religion.

WAS JESUS AT THE BEGINNING?

Three passages in the New Testament stand out as claiming Jesus was the same God of Creation.

John claims he was at the beginning with God.

1In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2He was in the beginning with God;
3all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. (John 1:1-3)

John has Jesus claiming he was "I am" in reference to God's name in Genesis 3:14. The following passage tells us his audience was so offended they threw stones at him. Jews never accepted him as their leader.

58Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."
59So they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple. (John 8:5-59)

Paul tells us Jesus was the Creator.

17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (1 Col. 1:17)
The Moody Handbook of Theology offers two Old Testament proofs to support the New Testament. But when we examine them, we see that they are taken out of context and don't refer to Jesus.

First, Micah predicts a child from Bethlehem Ephrathah will come forth as ruler of Israel to rescue him. So this can't be Jesus because he never ruled over Israel, and because Micah was dead hundreds of years before Jesus' time.
2But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days. (Micah 5:2)

Second, Isaiah tells us a child is born, meaning he was born during Isaiah's time, hundreds of years before Jesus.

6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isa. 9:6)

Final thought

This is only a sampling of how disconnected the Old Testament is from the New Testament. Christian apologists have no scruples about taking Old Testament Scripture out of context to "prove" that their Jesus is the same God of the Old Testament. Even the Old Testament is replete with errors, false translations and self contradictions. It can't even prove itself much less prove the false claims of the New Testament.
