What She Saw in the Sky Couldn't Have Been a Complete Illusion
The ship and the whale, glimpsed diving through the sunset, were absolutely vivid. She could see the shadows on the whale's dorsal side, and light glinting off the ship's sails. Soon, she would have to decide what it was — or, more to the point, what would manifest itself like this.

"The French climber Alain Robert scaled the Vysotsky skyscraper in Yekaterinburg, Wednesday. Press and spectators looked on as the Frenchman prepared his safety gear, starting the climb from ground zero of the 188.3-metre-tall (617.8-foot) structure. Taking two-and-a-half hours to climb the top, Robert conducted the final stages of his climb without safety equipment. The French climber plans to conquer the summit of a Dubai skyscraper for his next project."

its been forty five years ago today ...
The Beatles 'Abbey Road' Album (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEO_Q13zzJo&feature=youtu.be)
"It was a very happy record," said producer George Martin. "I guess it was happy because everybody thought it was going to be the last." Abbey Road – recorded mostly in two months during the summer of 1969 – almost never got made at all. That January, the Beatles were on the verge of a breakup, exhausted and angry with one another after the disastrous sessions for the aborted Get Back LP, later salvaged as Let It Be [see No. 392]. Determined to go out with a sense of recaptured glory, the group reconvened at EMI's Abbey Road Studios to make its most polished album: a collection of superb songs cut with an attention to refined detail, then segued together (especially on Side Two) with conceptual force. There was no thematic link, other than the Beatles' unique genius. John Lennon veered from the stormy metal of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" to the exquisite vocal sunrise of "Because." Paul McCartney was saucy ("Oh! Darling"), silly ("Maxwell's Silver Hammer") and deliciously bitter ("You Never Give Me Your Money"). George Harrison proved his long-secret worth as a composer with "Something" and the folk-pop diamond "Here Comes the Sun," written in his friend Eric Clapton's garden while playing hooky from a business meeting. And Lennon, McCartney and Harrison reputedly sang more three-part harmony here than on any other Beatles album. Let It Be was the group's final release, but this album was its real goodbye.

Truck-In 2025 ...
NEW Mercedes Future Truck
"The Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 constitutes a revolution in efficiency, safety and networking, a revolution for road traffic and its infrastructure, for professional driving and for the road transport sector. This is not a new truck, but rather the key element in the interconnected transport system of the future. It is being developed as part of the "Shaping Future Transportation" initiative by Daimler Trucks to conserve resources and reduce emissions of all kinds. Other aims are to ensure the highest possible level of traffic safety and to boost networking with intelligent data management considerably for tailor-made vehicle and service solutions.
The prototype demonstrated the exciting capabilities of the Future Truck 2025 back in the summer at speeds of up to 80 km/h in realistic traffic situations on a section of the A14 motorway in Magdeburg, Germany. Now the thrilling exterior and interior of that same vehicle are being revealed.

new movie about an unsung hero journalist ...
"Kill the Messenger" Resurrects Gary Webb ...
Journalist Maligned for Exposing CIA Ties to Crack Trade
The new Hollywood film "Kill The Messenger" tells the story of Gary Webb, one of the most maligned figures in investigative journalism. Webb's explosive 1996 investigative series "Dark Alliance" for the San Jose Mercury News revealed ties between the CIA, Nicaraguan contras and the crack cocaine trade ravaging African-American communities. The exposé provoked protests and congressional hearings, as well as a fierce reaction from the media establishment, which went to great lengths to discredit Webb's reporting. We revisit Webb’s story with an extended clip from the documentary "Shadows of Liberty," and speak with Robert Parry, a veteran investigative journalist who advised Webb before he published the series...

Facebook, Apple Pay For Women Employees to Freeze Eggs
Facebook and Apple with now pay for their female employees to freeze their eggs as both companies will cover up to $20,000 for the procedure. The benefit shows that companies are investing in women by making an effort to attract top female talent. We look at how the coverage could give the Silicon Valley giants a leg up on competition, and if this implies that women have to choose between family and a career in this Lip News clip with Lissette Padilla and Gabriel Mizrahi.

I was thinking about placing an order for one of these, but since the ebola eugenics pandemic, the collapse of the dollar, the event horizon and major shift in 2017, and I can't buyout someone else's position in line, it's just not economically feasible at this time. I do not want to wait till 2018 and besides, I've already secured my space in one of the DUMB's so I wont need to fly to my 10,000 acre estate in south America in that big of a hurry anyway. Apple's New Headquarters ...
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/apple-hq-proposal.jpg
"Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke at New York City's Climate Week on Monday where he proclaimed that Apple's new "spaceship" headquarters would be "the greenest building on the planet," according to 9to5Mac's Zac Hall.
“We’re building a new headquarters that will, I think, be the greenest building on the planet," Cook said about the building, which is under construction. "It’ll be a center for innovation, and it’s something clearly our employees want and we want."
Cook's tenure as CEO has been marked by a renewed emphasis on Apple's effect on the environment. Cook recently spoke to Charlie Rose about Apple's sustainability efforts:
"You know, we want to leave the world better than we found it," he said. "What does that mean for us? It means that we take toxins out of all of our products. We’ve done that."
To his claim about Apple's new headquarters, Cook said the building would be exclusively powered by renewables like wind and solar energy.
"I know some people have issues with this, but to me it’s all about leaving the world better than you found it," Cook said. "We owe it to the generation, to the younger generation, to solve this and not to keep turning and looking away.
The building should open at the end of 2016."
And here's a first drones eye view of this mammoth structure ...

From Lost Tapes
"Greg and Benton competed in a three-day, five-hundred-mile (310 km) ATV race across the Gobi Desert, following a tradition in which they pushed each other to new challenges each year. As they find they are in last place in the race, they agree on next year's challenges before continuing. They become thoroughly lost as night falls, but assume that they will be able to find their way once it becomes light again. As they rest and joke around with each other, Greg is suddenly bitten by an unseen creature, and Benton's camera captures a trail of sand being pushed up by something under it" ...

They do make perfect sense to me !
I grew up with this music played at near (or maybe past) damaging volume levels thanks to my uncle.
I can only imagine what the lyrics and thought forms contained in songs created by artists like this did (subconsciously for the most part I'd assume) to shape my current way of thinking; perhaps via Epi-Genetics shape the very "me" that exists today.
mPrkz1yIhBM
Watch out you might get what you're after
Boom babies strange but not a stranger
I'm an ordinary guy
Burning down the house
Hold tight wait till the party's over
Hold tight We're in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house
Here's your ticket pack your bag: time for jumpin' overboard
The transportation is here
Close enough but not too far,
Maybe you know where you are
Fightin' fire with fire
All wet hey you might need a raincoat
Shakedown dreams walking in broad daylight
Three hun-dred six-ty five de-grees
Burning down the house
It was once upon a place sometimes I listen to myself
Gonna come in first place
People on their way to work baby what did you except
Gonna burst into flame
My house's out of the ordinary
That's might don't want to hurt nobody
Some things sure can sweep me off my feet
Burning down the house
No visible means of support and you have not seen nuthin' yet
Everything's stuck together
I don't know what you expect starring into the TV set
Fighting fire with fire
Shallow interpretations of these lyrics read something like this:
To form the lyrics, they picked words that fit the rhythms, which is why the words don't make a lot of sense. This is common practice in the world of Funk, where you don't want the lyric to get in the way of the groove on a feel good song.
But I don't see it that way, I see a message; frustration with society and it's mislead actions... "Fighting fire with Fire" "People on their way to work baby what did you except, Gonna burst into flame" ... Lyrics that only make sense more fully to me today; I'm sure my (sub?)consciousness processed these just as it does symbols today regardless of my full conscious understanding of their meaning.

'Nightcrawler'[/I][/B]
NIGHTCRAWLER is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling -- where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou thrives. In the breakneck, ceaseless search for footage, he becomes the star of his own story.

Saw this the other night,
PERFECT case study on psychopathy. J. Gyllenhaal does (another) amazing performance... I definitely recommend it.
but after watching it you'll need to cleanse your pallet with this:
Critics Consensus: Agreeably entertaining and brilliantly animated, Big Hero 6 is briskly-paced, action-packed, and often touching.

With his cover for next week’s issue, the artist Bob Staake comments on the tragic rift in the wake of Ferguson:
“I wanted to comment on the tragic rift that we’re witnessing,” Bob Staake says about his cover for the December 8th issue, arriving next week. “I lived in St. Louis for seventeen years before moving to Massachusetts, so watching the news right now breaks my heart. At first glance, one might see a representation of the Gateway Arch as split and divided, but my hope is that the events in Ferguson will provide a bridge and an opportunity for the city, and also for the country, to learn and come together.”

The Missing 43: Mexico's Disappeared Students (Full Length)
From Vice News
On September 26, students from the Teachers College of Ayotzinapa in Mexico en route to a protest in Iguala were intercepted by police forces. In the ensuing clash, six students were fatally shot and 43 were abducted. Investigations over the following weeks led to the startling allegations that the police had acted at the behest of the local mayor, and had turned over the abducted students to members of the Guerreros Unidos cartel. All 43 students are now feared dead.
The case has come to represent the negative feeling of the Mexican public toward the state of justice and the rule of law in Mexico. The events have now galvanized the survivors of the attack and the disappeared students' parents. Nationwide demonstrations have increased in intensity, and recently led to government buildings in the state of Guerrero to be set on fire.
VICE News travels to Guerrero, ground-zero for the protest movement that has erupted since the disappearance of the students. We meet with survivors of the Iguala police attack and parents of the missing students, accompany volunteer search parties, and watch as protests against the government and president reach boiling point.

Picture In Your Mind (1948)
Sent by the U.S. government as a participant in the Marshall Plan with a specific mission to assist the French in re-gearing their animation studios, Stapp discovered a Europe much-decimated by war, but in further danger of annihilation by nuclear weapons. Returning to the U.S., he produced this alarming-yet-hopeful film, replete with its lonely, Tanguy-inspired landscapes peopled with static figures casting long shadows across charcoal-colored plains. While taking the risk of leaning a bit toward didacticism, Stapp managed to urgently convey the thought that world destruction was not necessarily inevitable, provided that people embrace, rather than reject their cultural and racial differences. 'Picture' is a unique document resulting from the sometimes dreamy, sometimes nightmarish vision of the artist in a war-torn land, with the spectre of death hovering ever-so-slightly ahead.

Terence Kemp McKenna was an author, lecturer, philosopher and shamanic explorer of the realm of psychedelic states. He spoke and wrote about a variety of subjects, including metaphysics, alchemy, language, culture, technology, and the theoretical origins of human consciousness. He has been described by some as being "so far out, nobody knows what he's talking about", and by others as "the most innovative thinker of our times".

Paris Bans Diesel to Clear Air Pollution
Paris's pollution problem may soon be fixed as Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo has announced a plan to ban diesel cars in the French capital by 2020. France has the highest number of diesel cars on the road and reportedly worse pollution than Beijing at certain times in the day, which is likely the reason why they are the first European city to propose an outright ban. We look at the proposed diesel ban to combat pollution and the controversy it's being met with, in this Lip News clip with Gabriel Mizrahi and Jackie Koppell.

Ecuador Indigenous Environmental Activist Murdered Before Addressing UN
An indigenous environmental activist has been murdered before speaking to the UN climate change conference in Lima, Peru. José Isidro Tendetza Antún, a leader of the Shuar federation of Ecuador, was kidnapped, tortured and murdered before he was scheduled to speak against a Chinese-backed mining project in Ecuador that would have had potentially disastrous environmental consequences for the indigenous people of the area. Ecuacorriente, the company that is behind the project, has been bought from Chinese interests from Canadians, and the government of Ecuador is keen to facilitate the project to the financial gain of both countries. Antún was said to have declined bribes and been resilient to threats prior to disappearing, though the grave consequences of his obstinance are now apparent. We discuss the harrowing story of Antún, and his unfortunate end in this Lip News with Mark Sovel.

Peru: The New King of Cocaine
(Full Length Documentary)
The United Nations announced in 2013 that Peru has overtaken Colombia as the world’s top producer of coca, the raw plant material used to manufacture cocaine. For the past two decades, Colombia has been virtually synonymous with cocaine. Now that Peru has become the global epicenter of cocaine production, the Andean nation runs the risk of becoming the world’s next great narco state.
The Peruvian government is trying to crack down on the problem by ramping up eradication of coca plants, and devoting military and police resources to interdiction efforts. Despite the response — and a hefty amount of foreign aid devoted to combatting cocaine production — Peruvian coke is being consumed in the nightclubs of Lima and in cities around the world like never before.
VICE News travels to Peru to learn more about the government’s battle plan against cocaine, and to see how nearly every aspect of Peruvian society is caught up in the fight. We witness how the fine, white powder has forced an entire nation to the brink in the global war on drugs.

Energy.
As in: energy depletion.
Without energy, the individual feels trapped. In that state, he seeks to conform, fit in, survive long enough to die of old age.
Body and mind deploy various feedback mechanisms to inform a person about his “available supply of energy,” and when these signals are taken as absolute truth, trouble comes.
“I can sense my energy is dwindling. So I have to…settle for less, or see a doctor, or give up, or accept that I’m getting older, or change my values, or tune up a victim-story, or join a group, or…”
On and on it goes.
In this twilight zone, the individual is unwilling to consider solutions that could restore his vitality. He’s already opted for a lower level of life.
In particular, he’s unwilling to explore the one aspect of his capability that works like magic: imagination.
That’s out. No dice. Preposterous. Absurd.
After all, imagination is just that spring rain he felt as a child, that unknown space that held all the promise in the world.
That was then; this is now.
Now is sober reflection. Now is routine. Now is habit. Now is empty.
Once upon a time, he read a science fiction novel and, at the end of it, he felt as if he were standing, triumphant, in deep space at the crossroad of a hundred solar systems.
Now he knows there is no such place. Now he is intelligent.
And now he has no energy.
The light that once flared is gone.
The idea that his own imagination could lead him to discoveries beyond anything he knows is fool’s gold.
Yes, once when he was twenty, he woke up in the middle of the night and walked to his window and looked out over a city and knew he was on the cusp of an endless future…but what can he do about that now? There is no returning.
So his imagination waits. It idles.
Yet…if he took a chance, if he began to dream again, if he started up the engine, if he considered offloading the interlocking systems that have become his daily life, what might happen?
What layers of dead thought might peel away?
What abiding convictions might dissolve?
What energies might be restored?
Is there a huge space beyond his common neurological impulses and rigid survival habits, where Vision can be played out on a vast scale?
Is there a different kind of life he can enter, crossing the threshold from tired knowledge into mystery?
Can he take a route around the banners and facades of his former reality after opening the door to his imagination?
There is, in fact, a silent channel that winds through the entire time-scale of the human race.
History does not officially record it, because history is written by winners for losers, and this channel has nothing to do with pedestrian notions of victory or defeat.
The route of imagination has no truck with conventional space or time. It invents its own, and eventually introduces them into the world.
How many stories are there about journeying knights who cross the boundary from ordinary events into a realm of magic?
The stories are messages…sent to ourselves, to remember. This place, this day, this moment is a platform from which to embark.
Adventure, with no end.
Imagination.
Energy.

wonderful story with an inspiring accompanying musical verse ...
"Lovebirds are a social and affectionate small parrot. Eight species are native to the African continent, and the grey-headed lovebird is native to Madagascar. Their name stems from the parrots’ strong, monogamous pair bonding and the long periods which paired birds spend sitting together. Lovebirds live in small flocks and eat fruit, vegetables, grasses and seed. Black-winged lovebirds also eat insects and figs, and the black-collared lovebirds have a special dietary requirement for native figs, making them problematic to keep in captivity ...
A very special lovebird named Benjamin was born disabled. He had splayed legs, and was very small compared to his siblings. His parents paid no attention to him and pretty much completely ignored the little bird. Then his brothers and sisters began to help him and he was able to survive. This is such a wonderful story" ...

Wow ...
"Hear an Unreleased Early Mix of Led Zeppelin's 'Houses of the Holy'
Version from 'Physical Graffiti' reissue highlights John Bonham's drum fills and Robert Plant's harmonies
Next month, Led Zeppelin will reissue their sixth album, the 1975 double LP Physical Graffiti, with a disc's worth of unreleased versions of the record's songs. Among these is a rough mix of the funky hard-rock radio staple "Houses of the Holy" ...
Slightly shorter than the version that appeared on the original album, the rough mix places guitarist and producer Jimmy Page's iconic riff in the right speaker and reduces some of the high end. The bass is more prominent, John Bonham's percussion sounds looser in the verses and the overdubbed stabbing guitar line toward the end of the song is more prominent. On top of that, Robert Plant's harmonies on the line "Let the music be your master" are even more present.
"'Houses of the Holy' is unlike anything that anyone was doing," guitarist and producer Jimmy Page tells Rolling Stone. "It's just something that's totally of its own. I think the lyrics are brilliant on it."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5UnZEwdnIM
The rest of the reissue includes rough mixes of "Trampled Under Foot" (titled "Brandy & Coke") and "In My Time of Dying," an early version of "Sick Again," a Sunset Sound mix of "Boogie With Stu" and a rough orchestra mix of "Kashmir" that's titled "Driving Through Kashmir." It also contains what the band has billed as a "strikingly different" take on "In the Light."
As with last year's reissues, the new edition of Physical Graffiti, which Page personally remastered, will be available in a variety of formats, including standard CD, vinyl and digital releases. A super deluxe version will contain CDs, vinyl and links to high-def audio, as well as a hard-bound, 96-page book containing rare and previously uncirculated photos and memorabilia.
The reissue will arrive on February 24th" ...

Animal Odd Couples (PBS Nature Documentary)
Are animals capable of feeling complex emotions? Recent observations of unexpected cross-species relationships in zoos and animal sanctuaries around the world may provide some answers. Endearing interactions between a cheetah and a retriever, a lion and a coyote, a dog and a deer, a goat and a horse, and even a tortoise and a goose offer captivating glimpses of supportive connections in the animal world. Each interspecies pair challenges the conventional wisdom that humans are the only species capable of feeling compassion and forming long-lasting friendships. Animal behavior experts weigh in with their opinions, and animal caretakers share their personal experiences with cross-species relationships in this compelling tale of unlikely animal couples.

Fallout in Gaza: Six Months On
(Full Length)
During the devastating 50-day war in Israel and Gaza this past summer, around 18,000 homes in Gaza were destroyed or severely damaged, leaving around 120,000 residents homeless.
Now, with trouble in neighboring Sinai and infighting between Palestinian factions, reconstruction efforts in the beleaguered Gaza Strip are moving slowly. With the UN warning of a growing humanitarian crisis for the people of Gaza, many fear that another armed conflict is imminent.
Six months after the end of fighting, VICE News returns to the region to investigate the progress on reconstruction.

Lucy on the counter with nuggets !
Lucy is a very clever and cool Beagle pup, and she knows her way around the kitchen very well too!
Her owner knew Lucy was getting onto the counter and into some food, but he never caught her up there. So he set up a camera, and he put some chicken nuggets into the toaster oven for “bait”, then he turned the oven on for 12 minutes, and he left for the store for 40 minutes….
Yep, Lucy was busted on video! You’ll be surprised to see how she does it… :D

"Xian Min Zhang sent us the latest time-lapse video of the construction of his latest building: A 57-floor 2-million-square-foot (180,000-square-meter) skyscraper fully built with energy-efficient, factory-produced Lego-like blocks. He claims that they are now building these at a record three floors per day!
The company keeps increasing their building speed and size of these buildings at an impressive rate. It is still not the 220-story skyscraper they claimed they were going to build, but it is amazing nonetheless."

Police Video Shows Recusers Responding to Pleas for Help From Unknown Voice
A Utah toddler was rescued after being trapped for 14 hours upside down in a car in the Spanish Fork River, and the whole thing was caught on a police officer’s body camera.
Police officers who saved an 18-month-old girl from a frozen Utah river after her mother died in a car crash have reportedly said they heard cries for help before finding the child.
You can hear the rescuers answer the pleads for help coming from inside the car. Pay close attention around the 1:56 - 2:01 mark.
Rescuers plunge into a frigid Utah river and struggle to open the doors of a car that is partially submerged, in hopes of pulling survivors from the wreckage of the vehicle.
This is the scene that unfolds from the vantage point of an officer’s body camera as he rushes toward the Spanish Fork River in Utah Saturday where a car crashed, landing up-side-down.
And there was a survivor. Lily Groesbeck, 18 months old, was found alive in the car, nearly 14 hours after the vehicle plunged into the river. Her mother, 25-year-old Lynn Jennifer Groesbeck, did not survive the crash.
First responders can be seen in the video straining to lift the Dodge on its side. They quickly pass Lily from one person to the next until she reaches the safety of a waiting ambulance. The child was released from the hospital Wednesday.

DEEP WEB - Dark Net & Silk Road Documentary with Dir. Alex Winter & Lyn Ulbricht
"DEEP WEB is the documentary that explores the Dark Net, Silk Road, and the arrest of Ross Ulbricht. We look at the film trailer and hear from director Alex Winter and Ulbright’s mother, Lyn Ulbright, about the miscarriage of justice going on against the advocates of the dark net. How the Prison Industrial Complex, the War on Drugs, and the vanquishing of online privacy is colliding to imprison Ross Ulbright, plus the future of the Dark Net, and the human face of the struggle for internet freedom is explored in this BYOD interview, hosted by Ondi Timoner at the 2015 SXSW Festival" ...
GUEST & FILM INFO:
DEEP WEB gives the inside story of one of the the most important and riveting digital crime sagas of the century -- the arrest of Ross William Ulbricht, the convicted 30-year-old entrepreneur accused to be 'Dread Pirate Roberts,' creator and operator of online black market Silk Road. The film explores how the brightest minds and thought leaders behind the Deep Web and Bitcoin are now caught in the crosshairs of the battle for control of a future inextricably linked to technology, with our digital rights hanging in the balance.
In addition to being the only film with exclusive access to the Ulbricht family, Deep Web features the core architects of the Deep Web; anarchistic cryptographers who developed the Deep Web’s tools for the military in the early 1990s; the dissident journalists and whistleblowers who immediately sought refuge in this seemingly secure environment; and the figures behind the rise of Silk Road, which combined the security of the Deep Web with the anonymity of cryptocurrency.
Lifelong actor, producer and director, Alex Winter started as a child actor on Broadway and came to prominence in the wildly popular BILL AND TED franchise. Winter has directed two narrative features: cult classic FREAKED for 20th Century Fox and FEVER, which screened at Cannes. His TV credits range from MTV’s THE IDIOT BOX to Emmy-nominated work for Cartoon Network, two Ben 10 films, as well as numerous music videos. Winter’s VH1 Doc DOWNLOADED world-premiered at SXSW.
Lyn Ulbricht is the mother of Ross Ulbricht, the man accused of running online black market Silk Road. Since his arrest, Lyn has become outspoken about Ross's innocence and actively campaigns for internet freedom. She runs the site FreeRoss.Org which is following Ross's case and raising money for his defense.

The Israelites of the Amazon ...
The Promised Land: Cocaine And Faith In The Amazon
(Full Length)
Peru is now the world’s main supplier of coca, the raw plant material used to manufacture cocaine. In the last five years, coca production has grown the most in the tri-border region, an area deep in the Amazon where Colombia, Brazil and Peru meet.
The tri-border region is home to a messianic sect with apocalyptic beliefs whose members dress in biblical robes. Known as “Israelites," the religious group migrated to the Peruvian Amazon in 1995 in search of a promised land that's now infested with coca plantations.
VICE News traveled to Alto Monte de Israel, the sacred land of the Israelites, to meet them and understand how they cope with the existence of coca crops on their land, and whether they’re involved in the drug trade.

Joni Mitchell 2014 Interview
Singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell was hospitalized March 31, 2015. A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said that about 2:30 p.m., a person in the 600 block of Funchal Road, Los Angeles was taken to an area hospital in fair condition. He would not identify the person or provide further information. Mitchell has long lived in the Bel-Air neighborhood.
Joni Mitchell, 71, was one of the most prominent musicians to come out of the legendary 1960s Laurel Canyon music scene, which included the Doors; Neil Young; Crosby, Stills & Nash; Carole King; the Eagles; and the Mamas and the Papas. Since then her music has inspired and been covered by artists including Bjork, Janet Jackson, Steely Dan and Chaka Khan.
"I have a tremendous will to live," Mitchell told the Los Angeles Times in 2010. She self-identifies as having Morgellons disease and has been a vocal advocate for the controversial disorder in recent years.
"I'm a polio survivor, so I know how conservative the medical body can be," she said. "In America, the Morgellons is always diagnosed as 'delusion of parasites,' and they send you to a psychiatrist. I'm actually trying to get out of the music business to battle for Morgellons sufferers to receive the credibility that's owed to them." Source: Los Angeles Times March 31, 2015

I have been meaning to get back to this post for awhile.
Having done mushrooms and acid, I can tell you that what Van Gogh is depicting there is not the product of his own mind: it is how the earth and everything on it actually looks in the ego-dead state.
What most people like to think of as ego death is no such thing; it is merely a setting aside of the ego...a very good thing to be able to do, let me add :)
I experienced real, non-drug-induced ego-death in Andalusia, and the world looked to me just like it looks in Van Gogh's paintings...turbulent. I saw trees bending to observe me as I passed beneath them**, even when there was not a spot of wind. I saw the surface of the earth rippling like the skin of a horse that is shedding flies. I saw the mountains breathing. What happened is that I saw the world the way the animists of old saw it: alive. Alive in its own right, for its own purposes. The way people saw it before the ego came to be.
But the true ego-dead state is not a state that is conducive to living in any kind of modern setting, or for dealing with modern people. It is wonderful in its own way, but it is not meant for every-day life the way most people have to live it.
I think that what killed Van Gogh was his inability to communicate what he knew.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxHnRfhDmrk
**The trees were not observing me because I am anything special. They were doing what any creature will do when another creature walks by: observe it.

To explain what happened to me to myself, I use the idea of the umwelt
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umwelt
I think there might not be any such thing as different "dimensions" as such. I think there may be only different umwelts; that we are aware of different realities to the extent that our umwelt overlaps theirs (set theory, I guess), and that what entheogens do is to expand the range of the human umwelt...what we refer to as "ego death"...at least temporarily.
p.s. When I did entheogens, I always kept my eyes open and looked at the landscape.
p.s. When I was in Andalucía, I lived in a state of great isolation and solitude. For the last 7 months I was there, I did not even have electricity in my house, and so I did not even have the internet most of the time.
There is a reason that yogis and shamans have always sought solitude: it is in solitude that the ego breaks down, because it is no longer needed. I think that is what happened to me.

There were lots and lots of griffon vultures (which is what the ones in this picture are) in the area around my house in Spain. They used to perch in my trees. One time the landlord threw a dead sheep near the track to my house and it attracted a huge fall of vultures. There must have been 80 or 100 of them. I got within 20 yards of them before they took off. What a sight!
