A UFO researcher believes that the mass UFO sighting happened in 1966 could lure more tourists to the place of the mysterious event.
However, Richard Wilson is doubtful that a proposed playground with spaceship theme at the Clayton South park could help promote the site of the famous UFO sighting in the 1960’s. Wilson, who has been spending years researching the unusual incident, suggests that Kingston Council should do more than making a UFO-themed playground.
Mr Wilson suspects that the UFO seen in nearly 50 years ago was an experimental government aircraft. He points out that the people are more than ready to accept the truth about the existence of UFO or aliens, but the government have not changed their stand and continued to cover-up such information.
Mr Wilson recalled that in Grange Reserve on April 6, 1966 approximately 90 people (including a school class) reported witnessing up to 3 UFOs. He considered the sighting as major incident in Australia, comparable to Roswell in the U.S.
Ron Brownlees, currently the mayor of Kingston, said that the concept of the playground was a proposal to ease or eliminate the fear of some people towards the park because of the apparent UFO sighting incident more than 4 decades ago.

Hi Skywizard, listen, thank you so much for sharing this!! I was not aware that this occurrance took place back in 1966! That is a pertinent piece of INFO when it comes to the field of UFO sightings by mass public. I am really glad you shared this, as it just goes to reinforce the UFO subject even further. The buggers ( Govt ) must have did a real good job of covering up this one as well.....as I had never heard about it prior to watching this video. Imagine the nerve!!! telling everyone you did not see anything... because they ( ufo's ) do not exist...etc.....we'll say you are an alcoholic or whatever...screwin with the witnesses' minds.....absolutely pitiful!!!

This was huge news at the time and crops up periodically on TV. It was mostly received positively, though as stated, the Govt refused to budge. There was also few years later a case of a family whose car was pursued by a UFO when crossing one of Australia's interior uninhabited places, and later there was the disappearance of Valentich over Bass Strait, which was very odd indeed and remains unexplained. There were many witnesses to that. I like the idea of the park because a) I like parks and b) the park will keep the whole episode alive in people's mind and they will remember the incident.
I think that we don't know everything -- and some of it no one knows!

Another report I came across today...
Hundreds of UFO pics captured over Perth by Darlington man

UNIDENTIFIED alien spacecraft, a quirk of digital photography or a case of extra-terrestrial fraud?
These are some of the hundreds of "UFOs" that a biochemist-turned-school teacher says he captured on his $600 digital camera from the veranda of his Darlington home in the Perth Hills.
Rob Hartland has taken more than 20,000 photos of the day-time sky in the past six months and analysed them on his computer.
It began when he was taking photos of clouds to test out a new camera when he noticed a "smudge" that, when enlarged and enhanced, "had some structure to it, suggesting it could be some sort of craft in the sky".
He says since then he has identified a dozen different UFOs including round, square and saucer-shaped craft, posting the photos to his website wispyclouds.net for extra-terrestrial buffs and sceptics to ponder.
It comes after The Sunday Times last week revealed more than 400 West Australians had sought advice or counselling through the Australian Close Encounter Resource Network after claiming to see UFOs or meeting extra-terrestrials.
"I take about 30 shots at a time. In 10-15 minutes I'll take 300 to 400 images. Then I connect the camera to the computer. I zoom in and enhance any little thing I note on the images and you get these craft in anywhere from 2 per cent to 20 per cent of shots," Mr Hartland said.

"Some of them appear to have transparent canopies and in some shots it looks like there could be occupants inside.
"I always say 'could' rather than 'is'. There is always doubt. But UFO stands for unidentified flying object and as far as I'm concerned these aren't identified. It's possible some are man-made, but I don't think they all are.
"There's no way it is a bird or insect or plane they look totally different and these craft move much faster."
Mr Hartland, who has completed a PhD in biochemistry, said he had no history of mental illness or drug taking and that he never altered his photos, though he acknowledged many people would find his claims hard to believe.
The Sunday Times picture editor Jackson Flindell said Mr Hartland's images did not appear to have been tampered with, but dust on a digital camera's image sensor could cause anomalies in digital photographs, while powerful magnification could also distort images in some cases.

Regarding the "Australian Roswell" of 1966 :-
One guy in the 1st video is claimed to have a PhD in Ufology, then ends by saying that he doesn't believe in ETs !
Did he learn NOTHING in his 3 years of study ?
There are many people on this forum without a PhD who could teach him a lot about this subject.
Or is he just working for the government ?

I thought that of him at first but! I read it now as he saying he dose not think they travel here in solid crafts between stars but rather that he maybe believes in inter dimensional? or maybe originate from here? That's the way I read his comment now, what you think boja
Just viewed his comment again and yup maybe your right ! PHD what was he taught lol
