I found this short video on Wright-Paterson Air Force Base and thought it was interesting especially being hosted by NBC's Lester Holt. There was no description with the video but I think it was part of a special two-hour documentary, “Inside Secret Government Warehouses: Shocking Revelations.” Seemed like I've seen the video awhile back.

If anyone knows anything different post and let me know.

What indeed is going on behind the scenes (The base seems totally normal (For an Air Base) and NOT at the same time if that makes sense)? I can say that for the amount of bus activity and parked cars to C-130 and bigger (Though LOTS of FBI/DHS/3 letter Agency Lear Jet type planes come and go) planes taking off/landing... AND the amount of "Above Ground" buildings to house the drivers (I know, it IS an airport and they could be flying out/off base)... the numbers do not really add up with the daily activity. The security once on the base is quite normal actually, accept for certain buildings. People who work there, both Civilian and Military seem the same as on any base to me anyway. Interesting video, I know lots of Intel "Groups" work there at times.

ONE Good question: WHY the US NAVY is stationed FULL time at several Civilian Airports with their own secret Terminals... Example "Love Field Airport, Dallas Texas" just to name one. Where unmarked planes (Some Air Force Marked) of type/model I will not name (But HEAVY LIFT models) are being serviced, housed and take off and land daily. This happens across the country. Google it! Some has seeped out into the news in bits and pieces... :o

Continued Navy @ Love Field/Project Name & "Mission Cover" of Drug Interdiction etc... (Sorry OP if off topic, research may show a correlation/hint)

NAWC-23 at Dallas Love Field

There is another unit for which no official name is known, which operated at least three different heavily modified Orions since at least 1978.

In official documents the Orions operated by that unit are assigned to NASC-FS, which is an abbreviation meaning: Naval Air Systems Command-Flight Support Detachment. The unit has also been given the generic name NAWC-23, which refers to a special projects facility that utilizes specialized Orions, which are located in Dallas, Texas.

In 2001 the name “Project Gayfeather” was associated with this unit, but no other source has confirmed this sofar. Gayfeather is the name of a flower which has a much similar shape as some canoe shaped pods seen below the fuselage of some P-3 Orions. These pods also are very much alike the SLAR pods seen under the E-8 J-Star of the USAF.

The "PODS" - New to the not-quite-secret file is the Raytheon-Boeing Littoral Surveillance Radar System (LSRS), a wide-aperture active electronically scanned array (AESA) surveillance radar that is now operational on P-3 Orions flown by VP-46 out of Whidbey Island. LSRS has been used in exercises in the Pacific and operationally in Southwest Asia.

It's been mentioned in Jane's and a number of spotter sites, notably the Netherlands-based P-3 Orion Research Group which estimates that at least five aircraft have been modified. (NOTE: Not well known, also many C-130 Hercules are also fitted with the "Flower Pods" and serviced by the same group)

Hi GoodeTXSG,do you know if the "flower pod" mod to the Hercules has been done to Australian AF Hercs as well?

Thanks lb

I have no direct knowledge, but it would be NO stretch to say yes. The US and the Aussies share tech like you would not believe... or maybe you would.
