The head of the Belize Institute of Archaeology, Jaime Awe, said on Tuesday that the destruction at the Nohmul complex in northern Belize was detected late last week. The ceremonial centre dates back at least 2,300 years and is the most important site in northern Belize, near the border with Mexico.

"It's a feeling of incredible disbelief because of the ignorance and the insensitivity … they were using this for road fill," Awe said. "It's like being punched in the stomach, it's just so horrendous."

I still can't believe this is happening!
I believe ancient temples and the like where Geo-positioned and connected.
This is like an attack!
Well I would have once called this mindless vandalism but now I can just see this as planed destruction, a slap in the face, a boot in the balls!!?

Yeah ghostrider and not just something we can't replace, we have started to see that these buildings and sites are inter linked and function, We don't fully understand it all yet and so !CRUNCH! for the sake of a few bucks and a bit of road infill there goes another possible piece of the jigsaw :(

I must transcend my negative thoughts of their rotten action, it is not the poor workers fault either, no blame on them. It is not of our kind's action.

Hey, Napoleon use the sphinx for target practice for cannons, and the brits have their sins in the area, as well.

Entire cities have been put to the sword.

Dresden's streets were running with human fat, blood and gore, 5 feet deep in spots, like after a torrential rain.

My grandmother watched people eat their own relatives in the wreckage of the firestorm of hamburg, and half the people who walked out of hamburg were slaughtered by the Russians, all because they turned the wrong way at a fork in the road..

At the end of WWII The USA boxed up 1.5 million German men behind barbed wire and watched them starve to death, over about 5-6 weeks.

Fallujah was a slaughter of thousands of civilians, by the US - in Iraq. Never mind the million that starved to death in Iraq, through Clinton's policies, before Bush II arrived on the scene.

My friend's entire family line was wiped out by the Stalinists - men, women, children, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, daughters, sons, grandparents...all of them, to the last human being.

I could go on for days.

This is a piece of stone. It is valuable, yes, but there are other things, things of extreme violence that have never been addressed. This pyramid - it's another straw to be added to the pile.

Yes Carmody your so right, my mind and heart become deeply pained and sorrowed when I think of how some humans-and-beings have caused Hell-on-Earth for so many souls; so sorrowed when I think of how some humans-and-beings could do such things!
My mind and heart rises in joy when I think and feel all the good humans-and-beings works of good and healing.
That is why I feel so much pain and disbelief when I see such blatant disregard and needles destruction of a possible healing site, or a building that could be part of such a chain of good.
Wasted, we have learned so much from all the ancient sites that we still have and have not gained so much because of the destroyed sites that we didn't get to see and know :(
