"WASHINGTON -- NASA announced Tuesday a Grand Challenge focused on finding all asteroid threats to human populations and knowing what to do about them.

The challenge, which was announced at an asteroid initiative industry and partner day at NASA Headquarters in Washington, is a large-scale effort that will use multi-disciplinary collaborations and a variety of partnerships with other government agencies, international partners, industry, academia, and citizen scientists. It complements NASA's recently announced mission to redirect an asteroid and send humans to study it.

"NASA already is working to find asteroids that might be a threat to our planet, and while we have found 95 percent of the large asteroids near the Earth's orbit, we need to find all those that might be a threat to Earth," said NASA Deputy Administrator Lori Garver. "This Grand Challenge is focused on detecting and characterizing asteroids and learning how to deal with potential threats. We will also harness public engagement, open innovation and citizen science to help solve this global problem."

could be more to this than what we know. releases like this make me think there is really much more going on behind the curtain. any thoughts?

All though this is a valid proposition and obviously we
don't want to be hit by a rogue asteroid. There is the
reminder Carol Rosin and her message from Verner
Von Braun.....

I believe that is more than proved by the recent cases of asteroids entering the Earth's atmosphere, the agencies that study and try to detect these phenomena are far from having a great efficiency.
The case of the meteorite that exploded recently in Russia is a good example.
Theoretically it would be of sufficient size to be in surveillance radars.
This video was taken 18.06.2013 from Rio de Janeiro.

So the shadow government doesn't have some type of "death star" technology to turn space traversing objects (space craft, asteroids, (maybe even planets?)) to bits of dust, should they choose to do so????

They need a "grand challenge" instead to address asteroid threats????

When was star wars "proposed"? Back in the Reagan era........1983.

I call baloney.

I believe this is a cover story for something else.

To turn it into dust, first you have to find it.
And I do not think it's as simple as you are saying.
Either way, they may be doing more than one operation with different objectives in the same mission.

This is a "Red Herring", they are phishing to determine how much of their new technology is known to the masses.

By using a combination of chemtrial blanketing the startosphere and electromagnetic energies tuned to create energy/plasma vortexes they are able to transmit energy or kinetic force wherever they like:
individual and group annihilation (Baghdad airport, 2nd Gulf War, Iraqi combatants microwaved to death)
destroy submarines (energise forward section of Kirsk, torpedoes explode)
French and British submarines collide in English channel (electromagnetic/scalar energetic remote control of both submersed vehicles)
British destroyer runs aground off Australia or South Africa (?), Captain in UK, ship under command of lesser officer at time (remote control utilising satellite data stream, poor real time correlation)
crop circles, especially those with "messages" (training exercises for the technology "handlers")
forest fires (weather control, localised heating)
fish stock annihilation (food control, dolphins and whales are evidence due to them feeding at same time as the major shoals are destroyed, fries the brains of the mammals)
and on and on . . .
. . . anyways, the point is they are able to manipulate large magnitude, very high and very low frequencies and most importantly now Cern has found its "Higgs Boson", very exotic and impressive harmonics simultaneously, when activating or creating their desired working energies. The outcome of this is they are well able to steer cosmic objects by manipulating the energy of a cosmic object with respect to its background just enough to steer it closer of further from the Sun.

So, I contend, for instance, since the whistle-blower hero, Edward Snowden made his revelations, the top brass has asked in-house, "just what do the people know"? so the "B" team NASA are sent in with bags of sweeties for the masses as usual, telly science lmao

Anyways, personally, I don't think this is a credible project though am not certain at the moment why they would propagate interest in this manner. Maybe they are genuine but it seems very odd to me.
