I was shock when I heard this. I double checked if I am misreading country's name.

"Norwegian crew members taking back a cup of coffee from a Thai woman after it emerged she only had cash and a local credit card with her. The woman was also unable to buy food or water on the 12-hour flight."

I understand sporadic person's act with no human consciences and no remorse from corrupt societies and I would accept this kind of news if comes from undeveloped country but Norway.
It was very disappointment to me with my high expectation from Nordics bloods.

""Unbelievable that people have the courage to fly Norwegian. Not being able to drink water can lead to death," said Thor Olsen on Twitter, while Tor Andre Ljosland speculated that "soon you will also need a credit card to use the toilet."

Norwegian expects to take delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner at the end of this month, almost two months behind schedule following problems with the planes' batteries."

This is a nice hit peace on Norway airlines, many airlines do the "only credit card payments" because they do not want to deal with exchange rates, it is listed before you buy the ticket what is included on the flight, to assume one is like the other is like assuming because you arrive in Canada that the TSA will be waiting here to Molest you because you arrived on the North American continent. I supose another story will come out soon about how lax Norway airlines are to Possible terrorists.

This has nothing to do with Nordic blood.. It has to deal with capitolisum...

Yeah, this does not quite make sense.. I mean I have traveled with Norwegian several times (being Norwegian as well) and I am well aware they prefer credit cards.
That said I have used my U.S VISA card on the airline, but I am not sure that counts. However, they accept various currencies depending on their flights.

Obviously they accept the Norwegian Krone (NOK), and in most cases Euro. Also if you for example fly too or from the UK they accept GBP.

So the question is, what currency did she carry? And was it a "credit card" or an ATM card? Big differences there..

I mean, capitalism is capitalism.. So there are few in no good guys in that aspect of things.. I for one got pissed off by the fact that they do not have free coffee or tea, never asked for water on that airline myself.

That said, Norwegian is not the worst airline to fly from or too Norway, not at all.. But there are better alternatives depending on where you are going.

And I do not think this represents the Norwegian spirit, I am more surprised no random person offered to buy the poor woman some water or coffee (considering most Norwegians, especially travelling are money strong)

Gosh, why didn't one of the other passengers buy the woman a cup of coffee? I would have done so if I was sitting next to her!

I regret to made this thread. I am very sorry for my blindness and incompetence to understand differences between cultures.

This one sometimes acts like a different dimensions or planets.

I always forget what makes news. If a Canadian paper reports an alligator was spotted at Montreal streets it is a big news for Canadians, but on the other hand if Florida paper reports same news for Key-west streets it is a last page news.

I heard once upon a time if a dog bite a man it is a not paper news but a man bites a dog, it is the breaking news. depends on geographic location.

This mistake was caused by my poor experience on travelling different flight-paths.
Sorry again for all inconveniences which I might caused.

Love and Hope

Over here in Australia we can walk into any store which sells food and request a drink of water. Under law they must give you a drink of water. This excludes bottled water, you'd be getting it in a glass or a paper cup with tap water. I find it very hard to believe they could not provide a cup of water.. hell the bathrooms on airplanes have toilets with water from the handbasin.... there's non bottled water on that plane. (perhaps unfit to drink, but using recycled water on a plane doesnt seem right either as it would also be more expensive to bring in than just using the tap...)

Also if she was after coffee..... dont think she was that thirsty :| I also still find it slightly odd/hard to believe that they would not provide her with a cup of tap water had she requested it....? Makes a good news story tho?? Did she go to hospital for dehydration after the flight?

Tho it's generally corageous and right to jump on the side of the one that seems to be doing wrong.... there's allways two sides to a story and the media LOVE milking outrage, tears and fear out of stories.

They are talking about a 12 hours flight.

In my logic, if they force you to leave all your food and bottled water before security, they have to provide those same items at the other side of security with free offer. Other wise it turns to ask handsome money and it should be illegal. I never paid for drink or food in an air plane and i am not familiar with such business. It was my soft belly that brought me to the objection of this situation.
