" A team of hackers from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Washington conducted a study in 2010 which concluded that all cars equipped with antilock brakes sold in the U.S. can be hacked via remote control and have their brakes entirely disabled with the car in motion, throttle revved, and remain fully operational with the key removed and the car in park with all driver input entirely ignored. That this was done all the way back in 2010 [or is this a typo, and he meant 2005?] only goes to show that this has been possible for a long time, and proves Larry Dever could have been killed the same way Hastings was, that is IF Hastings was not simply murdered beforehand blown up and burned mafia style as I think he was."

I'm a bit of a gear head, used to race cars as a hobby & preferred newer models, I can tell you that this is not true for the majority of vehicles.

Now if you have ONSTAR equipment installed it is true. however most vehicles do not. my 2010 truck does not have any external signal receiving capabilities so you could not do this to it. my 2009 car before it also did not have anything (and I raced that car so I went through every system, reprogrammed the ECU & crawled over every inch of the chassis)

if you DO have onstar, it's usualy a pretty simple procedure to disable it (look up your vehicle and follow the instructions, your car will not start if you do it incorrectly)

This same story has been going round since they first started putting computers in cars.

I agree, But! some cars have electronic assist, so be wary of a car company who boasts " electric steering assist, electric braking assist, electric or wireless shift assist, electric or wireless accelerator assist." with blue tooth you do not need onstar to hak the cars computer, you only need a lap top and the proper haks for the vehickle in question providing you are willing to get close enough to get in blue tooth range, or boost your laptop send recieve.

Hello Everyone: I'm not trying to change the subject but just add a little more to the conversation.
I was trying to install a new chip into my GM duramax a few years ago. It wasn't going well since whom ever had installed a chip into the truck had made sure it wasn't coming out without changing the complete computer. No one seemed to know what to do with the chip that was in the truck. I was given the phone number for a chip manufacturer and I called them. What happened next was even alarming to myself at the time. The technical fellow told me to take out 3 fuses before doing a particular test he had me do. I asked him what the fuses were for and he informed me that GM could track my vehicle anywhere and also knows when I make changes to it. The reason he had me take out the 3 fuses was to disable the satellite from tracking my truck while he was doing some tests. He told me that GM could track any vehicle of theirs for years and years by satellite. I asked him if this was true why couldn't they track vehicles for the government? He said they could but don't let the public know they can track every vehicle with a computer in it.
All I know is that this computer tech was brilliant! He knew more about the computer system of my truck that dealership after dealership that told me they couldn't help me.
I am a believer now that vehicles are all tracked for whatever reason.

They aren't going to put this information in the manual... If you ever met the original programmers when MS was still trying to figure out how to steal Mac's graphic user interface... It was just a fact of life that they always put a "back door" in ANY code they make... I don't think that practice ever stopped, but just became formalized and taken over by the government, especially ever since they took MS to court during the anti-trust trials. If they can do it they will, this is just logical... and the fact is, it is completely doable.

Thank God I drive an Infiniti.

Other than that, I'm speechless at the insidiousness of this cabal and their psychotic obsession with control.

It is called OnStar regulation.
