'US citizen has no right to free speech?' State Dept spokesperson grilled over Snowden

Tensions are high as NSA leaker Edward Snowden officially submitted application for
temporary asylum in Russia on Tuesday. After Russian and international human rights
advocates and lawyers met with Snowden at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport on Friday,
the US said it is disappointed in Russia for considering the whistleblowers asylum.
During a daily press briefing State Department spokeswoman, Jen Psaki was given a
thorough grilling on the Snowden affair by journalists, including AP's Matthew Lee and
CNN's Elise Labott and was left lost for words at almost every turn.

A question I would have loved to have heard, " could you ask the NSA to disclose the private conversation between US's ambassador and Russia's officials" :-)

wow, that was quite a grilling, I wish reporters would always do their job correctly, as they have been here, by asking questions and not taking everything for granted as it is, and reporting it. But it seems to be reported on RT only (in Russia). I am mistaken?

He's letting the state speak for his actions now. When before this happened did he speak against the actions of the state? They're "letting him" have an "opportunity" to speak? An opportunity is always being ready to speak rightfully at any rate.

Excellent. Wishing for journalists of this caliber for 'my' country [at every single press conference].

Btw, the US gov actually has to protect Snowden['s life], long as he isn't in their custody... 'cause who would everyone point at, immediately, should sth 'happen' to him?

May he never have to return to 'Netherland' [am only referring to politics here].

I have listened to Matt grill this spokes hole on several occasions. He is one of the best reporters on this beat IMO. Her answers came across as very lame to me.

Well, that was certainly interesting! Matt was pinning her down pretty good. The really crazy thing about this whole charade is that once returned. The whole "trial" that he would get to face would be a farce. They wouldn't let him put up any defense because anything defense that he has would be considered to expose national security secrets and would be prohibited. So he would have the right to be charged and convicted, while sitting quietly.

When Russia, becomes "freedom" and America becomes facist?

Told ya the world was turned upside down. Flip-flop goes the clock. A time for the truths and lies revealed. Who's name is under the "red, white, blue and gold?"
I thought it was the "red, white, and blue." Every flag has a meaning, and getting to the bottom of that, will lead you to the "deceivers in our name who thought it up, and the intention of usage, when saluted to under pledge of life for country.

Feet and arse to the fire, by Lib,Ind,Rep journalist to get to the bottom of where we stand on our rights, if we have any rights, and with the existing law, what else was Snowden to do?

What are existing whistleblower laws? And if "Slimey the Phycho" can have witness protection for whistleblowing, why isn't Snowden considered for it also?

Different laws, with different straws, for the strawmen and fake outrage that people would be upset at how our laws have changed, behind closed DC and WS boardroom/committee doors.

Chamber of Commerce/GiveOurJobsAway is the biggest, yet saddest auctioneering joke, in America's history.

When Russia, becomes "freedom" and America becomes facist?

I've said many times I find it odd to be publishing so much from RT, especially
growing up in the cold war. I also find it ironic how the world has been turned
upside down.Of course knowing what we know now ,none of us are free as we
thought we were and the same old groups that run the world have just been
shuffling the deck !

The man who exposed America's global surveillance network,
Edward Snowden may be looking to settle in Russia - at least
for the mid-term. The whistle blower has been stuck at a
Moscow airport for three weeks now - because he lacks the
papers to leave. Live to RT's Andrew Farmer and we are
joined by RT contributor Afshin Rattansi.

Although acknowledging Neoconservatism as a ideology, they do not really
go into how it came out of the cold war and was the architect of the war
on terror and 'Arms' for destabilizing in the void the Soviets left in the Middle
Eat in particular. Nor that they were probably behind 9/11.

How "neoconservative" is American foreign policy today? Is democracy promotion the
top priority? Hasn't the neocon agenda just weakened America's position? How can the
neocon worldview hold when there are so many contradictions? CrossTalking with
Matthew Feeney and Mark Jacobson.
