One of the first news articles I ran across today was this:
Riot on Nauru in wake of Rudd PNG asylum boat solution
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/riot-on-nauru-in-wake-of-rudd-png-asylum-boat-solution/story-fni0cx4q-1226682203915
I read it and didn't really understand what it was about except of the mention of a detention camp on an island..I didn't even know where this island was... until...
I ran into this article:
Asylum seekers arriving in Australia by boat to be resettled in Papua New Guinea
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-07-19/manus-island-detention-centre-to-be-expanded-under-rudd27s-asy/4830778
Can they really do this????

Yes they can the situation with boat people coming here illegally has been out of control in the last 10 years and has been a large debating facter in Australian politics especially at election time. The dentention camps are simply to hold illegal immigrants that have come here mostly on boats without any papers, so are not permitted to live in normal accomodation. You have to understand that they are very well looked after and alot of tax payers money goes into caring for them while they wait to see if they will be permitted to stay. That being said you need to understand that people are making large amounts of money from this people smuggling business and this needs to happen to send a message that they can not use the dream of coming to Australia as an insentive to steal peoples money from them. Also alot of younger women are smuggled here in this way and used as sex slaves in brothels to pay off the debt of coming here which in my eyes is a disgrace to humanity.
I am all for allowing refugess to come to Australia providing they use the proper channels and Australia has been very supportive of letting alot of actual refugees from war torn areas of Africa coming to our country and living here, i know desperate people do desperate things but this is to stop the ones that want to come here illegaly simply because they want to live in a comfy detention centre rather then waiting in their own country for their immigration papers to go through. Those are the ones that walk of the boats with new mobile phones wads of American dollars and well dressed, and i am not making this up it is well documented that this happens quite a bit mostly from middle eastern countries
So in conclusion i think it is entirely fair that they signed this law in and send them to Papua New Guinea as it is also a nice country it does have it's bad areas like all places but has a small population and plenty of land and if they truly want to immigrate or escape then it should be ok for them too And i am sure the not so poor illegal immigrents will think twice about getting on these boats if they know it's not bound for Australia. At least now these scumbag people smugglers will stop stealing these peoples money by using Australia to do it, it may sound bad but i suggest those not from Australia research this subject and see how well they actually get looked after in those centres.

Depends he laws in. and the timing and all pieces in place. Americans are seeing through their private corporate plantations, and how they divvied the work/jobs to various low wage regions, for competition in NAFTA/the race to third world living, by the corp, "for" the corp and OF the private corp.
Whether you like it or not, just as the President Barack Obama found out, the long laid plans have already been laid(since 1991 PapaB****, we either change the road map, by standing for, of and by the people, or size up your new jumpsuit. He really doubts the people will stand for "ALL" in this country, to save this ONE Nation/as a whole. The hatefilled divide, has always been able to distract people, and they fall into the revolving door of repeat, everytime they don't demand JUSTICE FOR ALL HUMANS, not just "their own" sect.
Believe it or not, we are the majority, and if it wasn't for the division and inequality part, the corporations couldn't have distracted "our elder population" with faux retirement/stocks dividends, when they never intended the person/human to last that long on the job, because they've stressed that person/human to almost illness/madness with their CEO egos. NO wonder the elderly and retired, forced out on a 1/3rd of the promised retirement, would rather slit the poor, than take another loss. But that is the game they are playing, and the President has brought that money back to them w/leadership and a gentle reform, yet their greedy and selfish maladjusted ego, won't allow them to care for others, who had to wait until they had ALL THEIRS BACK.
There is a sick mind behind such selfishness, and God has the cure.
They will be taking their medicine from now on.
For some, it's too late in the illness, and they are mad with power.
Others who are dragged in, and forced, must get in touch within, to be forgiven.
Christ is the only one to forgive, not some Pope.
Who forgave the Pope for allowing rape of boys in the churches? Uhhhh....duhhh...
Wake up and stand up for your rights, demand they get the he// out of our country, or lock them up for life. They have murdered, and slain billions over the last 1000 years. Of course they had their scientist develop the plague to get at the King, he had changed their holy book and took other books out, meant to guide the people were supposed to read and learn from, to be better angels, not manipulated ones.
They sought to slay them, and they survived, and they believe every word of the testament, so true Christians walking the way of Christ in peace, love and other rules that for lifetimes have been given to the Sons of Gods, that the ancients believed were divinely sent, even if they are ET/another of Creation, the tolerance and unity of humankind is every book of every nation and creed. Why has not mankind listened? Well some have, and others are waking, from the distraction sleep of media lies and reality shows. Because OUR reality, must be corrected for the children's futures. It's OUR responsibility, and at all times, "just ask God or your guide." If they suggest murder, and martryism, it's not Christ.
LOVE thy NEIGHBOR even if he/she is across the seas.

Not to mention, that some of the terrorist from other regions may secure money for the boats and escape justice. With all the criminals about to be prosecuted by the world, and the multiple islands they may try to go to, that have the comforts, this is the best way to track them down also, because Hitler was smuggled out and lived to a ripe old age via the Bush clan. Maybe Papa and Ma Bush, don't want to be sent to sing sing. Perhaps Babs doesn't like the colors of the jumpsuit or something, either way, they will be a flight risk, if developing countries don't want to pay the price/embarrassment, for harboring them, when so much blood is on their hands around the world, including all the leaders assassinated "here."

I changed this thread's title from
Australia to send Assylum Seekers to PNGto
Australia to send Asylum Seekers to Papua New Guinea
This corrects a spelling error, and spells out Papua New Guinea.

I'm all for sending these people to other countries. If I tried to illegally enter their country horrible things would happen to me, so why should we just "let them in?"
In fact, people without genuine documents should be automatically denied entry for life (after they're retina scanned and finger printed) and taken to PNG, etc. until they call their family and get money to fly home. Most people are wealthy - if they were dirt poor they'd never leave their home country.

Their is an island called Christmas Island which is off the north west coast of Australia that is so full of these illegal boat people they had to start sending them to another island this is costing the government a fortune because us Aussies are kind enough to have built them proper buildings to live not tents. I feel bad for the ones that have payed money to these smugglers only to be squeezed into a little boat that is not sea worthy and perish at sea, it has happened 3 times in the last year where these boats have capsised in bad weather and alot have perished. I hope after a few of these boats are sent to Papua New Guinea they get the message and stop stealing peoples money and putting them on death trap boats, Australia is a big multicultural society now and it boosts our economy to have immigrents from all over the world. In the way that we have alot of restaurants and businesses that specialise in their countries foods and goods and i for one enjoy trying different food also the ones that are genuine refugees are very hard workers and we need them as us traditional Aussies are a bit to laid back and prone to taking alot of sickies (insert giggles here).

Everybody's doing off with asylum seekers and (illegal*) immigrants nowadays. in local media they are quite commonly portrayed like a bunch of dirty, criminal and uncivilised gypsies spread on foul sheets in the streets, churches or in detention centers.
Long gone are the days that European countries used to send brochures to third world countries saying "Have you ever thought about building up a future in our country?"
*How can any human possibly be illegal on planet Earth?
