I've shown this video to quite a few friends, and asked them for their interpretation of it is. Most don't get the meaning of it. First time I was told this story of Plato's cave, I did not get it either.

It took about 7 years for me to reach the epiphany of what Plato was trying to convey in this allegory .

Perhaps it's been shown here on Avalon before and I missed it.
I just had an impulse to post it here. I suppose someone here is suppose to see it.

Enjoy & discuss if you wish.

Thanks for posting this video... this is the first time I have seen this... and my first impression right after seeing it is... that
Here almost all the people are prisoners to their 5 senses... they only believe in what they see..hear..smell..touch and taste it... anything and everything besides that..does not exist for them..

if someone is trying to tell them about the true meaning of life - or that there are other realities or dimensions.... they don't/can't believe it... since they want to touch it feel it sense it

May be, We human beings in this dimension are only allowed to see/feel limited view of the reality... unless we expand our consciousness

These are initial thoughts... later may be more... when I am in mood to think about it

Much love

Thank you, Vitalux. It's the first time I've seen the video.
The meaning for me was quite clear, but I tend to see mostly what is behind the obvious, sometimes to my disadvantage.
Few quotes come to mind, one of them being "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day" as written in one of the translation.

I think it is a way more eloquent way of saying what I was trying to here:

Thanks for posting, love it! And quite timely (for me). I haven't thought about it in a long time...and I didn't get it last time I did.

Plato's allegory is a Socratic dialogue.

Are we the prisoners, believing that the shadows and echos are reality? What we believe reality to be is but a reflection or projection of what is beyond our perception?

The question then is how do we get released from the cave and from our limited view of reality?

First step is recognition. Red pill and all that.

Then stay on the path...which is beset on all on sides...try not to get distracted, and do what you can.

The rest kinda works itself out (I hope!)

....oh yeah, and remember: don't think you're ever completely out (of the cave). Or can ever stop learning (remembering) more about the true nature of reality.

Thinking you are all the way outa the cave is the biggest trap

In in order to live, you have to die to awaken from the illusion.
There is no real death, just the end of the illusion you currently are living in. During participation of this illusion, you have been stripped of what you are by amnesia.
Sooner or later we will all awaken, it is just a matter of time. :juggle:

"The secret of life is to "die before you die" - and find that there is no death".

Eckhart Tolle, "The Power of Now".

On enlightenment (freedom from ignorance) there is no personal self left---there never was in the first place--only an identification with the story of me.
It is but a thought but for all that a powerful one.

"There never was anyone there to do anything to you" Eckhart Tolle.

Only One consciousness at play--- The Cosmic Dance.

So bondage is illusion.
