This vivid and macabre dream was related to me by a close friend. I have her permission to re-tell it here. We have often shared our dreams and try to interpret their meanings, but we are struggling to find insight with this one. Perhaps someone here at Avalon might be kind enough to offer an explanation?
The dream was wholly from the perspective of an onlooker. There is a man who has murdered several people. He beheads one of his victims and shaves the head. Then he marks out a clown face on the head with a knife in a single continuous line, no flesh was removed. Having finished his work, he displays the head atop a marble plinth in the grounds of what looks like a stately home garden. There are no flowers in the vicinity, just a lush greenish of grasses and bushes. The killer then informs the police of his latest work, using an old Motorola hinged-style mobile phone with a small aerial.
The investigative team arrive at the scene... The sky is an overcast grey, but there is a single shaft of light that shines on the displayed head on it's white marble plinth. It is the head of a dark-skinned man. The team is made up of a mix of men and women, some with American accents and some with English accents. They inspect the head and at first it looks like the clown face is drawn on. But on closer inspection one of the team who is wearing latex forensic gloves realises it has been carved, though very lightly and precisely, just down to the first layer of skin. Another of the team is holding a Manila file with photographs of previous victims of the same killer dating back to 1985. There were at least 8 photos, though only one was recalled with any detail: it showed a blonde-haired woman against an orange background who has had facial features exaggerated by cuts to her eyebrows and lips. The odd thing upon waking from the dream was the smell of a butcher's shop and 'off' meat that lingered in her nose for days afterwards.

Very intriguing dream???
Where was this happening does you friend know?
With Britain and Americans working together, it could be anywhere...
Dates are awesome to work with perhaps, you could put a history search to it.
You and your friend could be solving a crime, not yet solved.

As for the stench your friend smelled for days? I haven't a clue.
How long had your friends stayed at the place she lives at. that could be a clue.

I interpret this dream as follows; Too many Hollywood films before bedtime.

The mind mashes up these superficial imagery and imprints and uses it in some dreams of which the quality of meaning and symbolism is very low; just like a Hollywood production.

But having said that, who am i to give a level of importance to this dream, the dreamer herself is much more aware of symbolism that applies to her own life that she finds in that dream.
Keep it in mind for a few days and if there is a important message to be conveyed by the subconscience it will float to the surface.

Q. Is this person usually in a peaceful loving state when shes not sleeping? This is quite important. Our dreams represent what we are when we are in the fully conscious or awake state.

Lets have a look see at the symbolic nature of the dream anyway. I've been interested in dreams and sleep all my life. Took four dream classes that were quite lengthy also so lets see what they say. I'm going to throw some things out here and I'll make a deal with you. If you feel its revealing too much cause its just too close (it has happened) just let me know we'll pull it all and go private. I tend to blurt and at times these fingers fly so please forgive the flubs of spell or grammar.

Looking at it you have to relate all back to the onlooker, the dreamer. It all reflects back to self. All there is application of self. Perhaps the most real aspect of the movie the Matrix and why I love it but I digress. There is a man. This man, is an aspect of the dreamer. So, this murderous man represents the aspects associated with deep emotions probably related to some aspect of self they loathe and would just as soon carve out of them. Addiction perhaps is the first thing, and sexuality conflicts, gender issues another. Whatever the case the energy tied to this is that which leads to the urge to is behead and defile the memory then turn that memory into a clown face via carving. So immediately I am inclined to ask, what parts of herself she is so very uncomfortable with that stirs this energy deep inside? If one were to bring up various topics with this person, one will be a bingo nerve buzzer I'm just sure. She knows somewhere inside this deep seated conflict. The phone and the age of the phone, the date all relate to 'older memory' based on what I see.

The grounds. As you put it based on memory, a stately place a stately home garden is indicative of the outer appearance of persona. The mask you wear. The head now carved with a face (clown) to look presentable is again indicative of inner feelings of a confusion of self, a confusion of what mask they actually wear and the comfort they feel wearing said game face in life vs maybe how they feel in side. So that deep seated long time memory, that 'dirtier' aspect of self, this darkness taints up this otherwise ideal paradise of an image of self. Beheading, the blood, all indicate refusal to face fear and truth and based on the face aspect or head it has ID or persona all over. Deep seated psyche self image issues related to much or her education also because all the male and female investigative team all relate to her own aspects of self diving into this long term self discovery. Its like the many layers of self peeled back some for us to check. So is she a road scholar. Seems to say so in the dream and the photos of previous 'victims' all seem to indicate recurring bouts of this what? Bender? Gambling? Drugs, Sexual gender or preference and the meat in the throat and nostrils is all about pure raw emotion and probably sexual.

So what have you two known each other all your lives and have other commitments but have serious like, you know feelings? Some going back a ways maybe but you can't act so in the dream to me is her shaving her head or her image outward because she can't show her attraction to you. This ugly face, maybe ugly, conflicting, even raw comes out at this male figure in her life but inside its attraction. Shaving the head seems to scream wanting to reveal more of something so it is obvious but the clown face carved in my mind the shame of or the fear of revealing those deeper feelings unexpressed for so long.

If not this, addition and a love affair with one of several things in life perhaps, or maybe lesbian leanings but unable to express that all could be possible intrepretations.

Thank you all for your interest so far.
To STR in particular for your in depth analysis... I will discuss with my friend and get back to you in private, if that's ok?

Could your friend be contemplating having plastic surgery, perhaps a facelift? The carving to the head, the worry over a clown's face (would I end up looking like a clown?), the garden without flowers, but she notices they are missing (lost blooms?). The dream also mentions outdated equipment and 1985. Perhaps this her desire to update and/or go back to a time when she was proud of her look? The photos of other victims (could this be referencing before and after pictures provided before the procedure?) Thanks for letting me babble my thoughts ;) ~ Taisy

the beauty of earth has been made morbid by humanity, and earth has no choice but to let karma do it's work... we , earth humans will reap what we have sown, with all our wars, pollution, and stiff necked prideful know it all attitude , we as a race have sealed our own fate , we were given something wonderful , and made the wrong choice, now it time to pay the piper ... but hey it's just a dream... we are in for tough times...

I was very little when I had a dream very much like the dream described here. I was very scared at the time, and I was like 5-6-7 years old.
Only recently I found out dreaming of beheaded person and that type of a horror film story represents breaking up a programming of the self. I know for me that is what has happened then, even though I was really a child at that point.
Just so that I say this, in dreams usually faces and other real-life features are not revealed so clearly as described, so all the details speak to me of a little made-up story, at least to an extend.

Thank you to all who have responded on this thread...

To Nanoo Nanoo: It wasn't a recurring dream and she doesn't eat take-away. All her food is home-cooked and healthy.

To Whitefeather: She is generally a good-natured and loving person.

To Taisy: Yes, she has mentioned reconstructive surgery, but not for any facial features.

To STR: Your analysis was very telling. There are many things she is unable/not ready to reveal and there is a tendency to repress such expressions of herself. There are uncomfortable memories that make her feel dirty and parts she wishes could be cut out. It's clear that this dream was an attempt to bring forward these deep-seated memories to be dealt with.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to respond in such depth.

Is it a dream or premonition....or is it a flash of a life in another dimension....??? the person has the answers,
they just have to take the time to look and feel.

very simple; someone needs your friend to see something from their point of view, which is for ur friend, is as bad as spending some time in a meat shop smelling meat :)

and her/his subconscious is making this other persons opinion into this extreme scene because theres no balance, theres miscommunication or just something is stopping her/him from seeing it from the other's point of view...

the other person, whos opinion is not being taken in, is very different from the dreamer, and probably because theres some heat between the two, the mind of the dreamer went a bit extreme to show how different this person can view things from the dreamer!

everything happens for a reason, and the orange in the photo screams EQUILIBRIUM!

find out who it is, dont be scared cuz we r all different, and try to listen, at the end, you will only earn experience!
