Hi,
It appears NASA is seriously thinking about (and apparently throwing money at) building working warp drive. Again (http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/bpp/index.html).
Yesterday, NewScientist website published an interview with NASA scientist, Harold "Sonny" White Ph. D, who is involved with this enterprise ;) (despite a wink, no pun intended).
Here it is: Meet the NASA scientist devising a starship warp drive (http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg21929300.300-meet-the-nasa-scientist-devising-a-starship-warp-drive.html#.UhMjfJI9KaI)
WikiPedia page on Harold G. White's bio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Sonny_White_(NASA_Scientist))
Summary of warp drive mechanics (PDF):
Warp Field Mechanics 101 (http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/20110015936_2011016932.pdf) by Dr. Harold “Sonny” White (2011)
With math, physics, graphs and slides containing images of test lab equipment.
Enjoy :)
PS
If all founding for military projects and operations gone into civilian research, i bet this (and a lot more) could be achieved in less time than Manhattan Project's outcome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhattan_Project) (only 5 years, without present day supercomputers and tech)...
