HB - without trying to sound silly, but how would one pray? Is there a manner or style, is it internal or external, how can I put it in to words hat I should be saying?

I love the Maya Angelou quote btw I wish more of us would adopt it.

Likewise mate, great quote.
HenryBowen, I believe that there are unseen positive forces listening to your/our prayers. When people doubt that, I say, how can there not be unseen positive forces, just look at the fact that we, humans, don't just make friends out of convenience, just because they may be useful to us, no, we make friends because something deeper moves us. Just like now I was moved by your post. There is no convenience, no monetary gain, there is something deeper. So those unseen forces are both within and outside of us, we are connected to them, we just have to make the connection and keep it alive. Maybe I pray in a way that is a bit different from yours, maybe not, but it doesn't matter, something is listening. Thanks for this inspiration that you provided today.

Consider why you need words. Maybe you don't.

pray:

speak to God: to speak to God, a deity, or a saint, e.g. in order to give thanks, express regret, or ask for help
hope strongly: to hope strongly for something
address earnest request to somebody: to ask somebody for something, especially earnestly or with passion

In the context of this thread, its a mix of all three I think.

The common theme is you place your attention to the intention. This can be done without words.

Stylized prayer with words is a ritual format - a form of ceremonial magical working. Effective, but limited compared to original unmodified thought.

The power of prayer , God , the angels , the saints , My dad always said when you pray , you can't wish it to happen, you can't want it to happen, you have to expect it to happen. And yes I have been witness to many interventions of a higher power. We do need to pray about Syria and japan!

Here is a link to Charlton Heston the actor who is now passed, his boyhood home is right down the street from me. It is an awsum depiction of just who we are and what we are doing here. Charlton Heston on Global Climate Change - YouTube

Charlton Heston read this speech on the Air of the Rush Limbaugh Show. He is reading an edited version of a chapter of the novel Jurassic Park, solely written by Michael Crichton. The chapter is called Destroying the World.
It eloquently expresses the ridiculousness of the environmentalist claim that global climate change, if in fact the earth is warming, is "MAN-MADE". If expresses the belief of many scientist that man did not change it and man can not fix it.

2 of my buddies were riding there motorcycles years ago on a blackened highway in Kentucky, my buddy in the rear saw that his friend who was on his motorcycle had lost control and was spinning on the exit getting off with him and his motorcycle laying flat on the pavement spinning round and round. My buddy didn't see this in time and said he was just about to collide with him as he was right behind him on his bike, my buddy closed his eyes and next thing that happened when he opened his eyes was that he was standing next to his bike , kick stand down, and was wondering what just happened, he called out to his friend who was lying on the pavement with his bike.

They got his bike stood up and rolled it over to the side of the road, they both were dumbfounded as to what just happened, My buddy should have crashed into his friends bike and didn't.

Just then a laminated woman in a white dress and her dog were standing about 50ft away from they both across the road, she asked if they were both ok? My buddy said yes and the woman turned around with her dog and in 2 steps just vanished. ................................................................................. Changed my buddies life forever. I have a lot more of these stories too. Just believe your intentions and connect them with those who are here for us. Its a beautiful world in so many respects.

The power of prayer is phenomenal.
Not wishing to go into detail but my life has been saved on several occasions.
First time the prayers of my parents-- the other times mine, heart felt, which brought rapid results.
I God I trust.

CALAMUS_ YOU ARE AWESOME.! MY GRATITUDE TO YOU FOR BEING ..."Like water".....

I agree with you regarding prayer = meditation.
A person centers themselves by quieting the mind and by adding focus + intention. I consider this prayer or meditation. Connecting to one's higher self, or to one's "God" through the Soul of Self we then have connected with the I AM. We are master creators. Our tools are prayer and / or meditation with intention. Gratitude. :-)
