Conservative Cardinal Who Clashed With Pope Francis Confirms He Has Been Ousted

Seems that Cardinal Raymond Burke, the head of the Vatican’s highest court and a vocal opponent of Pope Francis, has been removed from office by Francis. Here’s the story, in an exclusive interview that Burke gave to Buzzzfeed.com, of all places:

Yanno, as time goes on, my respect for Francis as an intrepid agent of change is increasing.

On the other hand, in the church as priests, we always have to be ready to accept whatever assignment we’re given. And so I trust that by accepting this assignment, I trust that God will bless me, and that’s what’s in the end most important. And even though I would have liked to have continued to work in the Apostolic Signatura, I’ll give myself to whatever is the new work that I’m assigned to…

Twenty years ago i walked away from my then desired vocation with the Franciscan Order OFM ... i present to you a compelling Roman Catholic mystic's thoughts (writings) on the Holy Trinity.
Via my family ancestral home of San Giovanni of Fiore, Italia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Giovanni_in_Fiore)

Joachim of Fiore (http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Joachim_of_Fiore)

"The Italian mystic Joachim of Fiore (ca. 1132-1202) developed a philosophy of history based on his interpretation of the Trinity.

Joachim was born at Celico near Cosenza in Calabria. While on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, he decided to enter the monastic life. Returning to Sicily, he entered the Cistercian abbey of Sambucina. At the Cistercian monastery of Corazzo Joachim was ordained a priest in 1168 and elected abbot in 1177.

Preferring a solitary life of meditation and writing, about 1185 Joachim retired to the Benedictine monastery of Casamari, where he began to write his commentary on the Book of Revelation. In 1191 he left the Cistercian order and moved to Fiore (Flora), in Calabria, where he founded a hermitage and later, as disciples were attracted, a monastery. This group, eventually organized into the order of San Giovanni in Fiore, was a strict, reformed branch of the Cistercians; it was approved in 1196, and its members came to be known as the Florensians.

In his later years Joachim came increasingly to feel that he possessed special insights into Christian Scriptures and doctrine and was perhaps subject to a special revelation. Through the encouragement of Pope Innocent III, Joachim wrote down his interpretations and visions and submitted them to the papacy for consideration and approval shortly before his death in 1202. Although Joachim had no intention of disseminating heretical doctrines, ideas drawn from his writings influenced heterodox thinkers and caused problems for the Church and society for the next 200 years.

Joachim's thought centers on his concept of the Trinity and its implications for the understanding of human history. In his Liber figurarum and in several other works, Joachim divided history into two dispensations, or eras: the dispensation of the Old Testament, or former covenant, which culminated in the first coming of Christ, and the second dispensation, or new covenant, of the Christian Church, which would culminate in the second coming of Christ. Joachim believed that he was living near the end of his second age and that only two generations remained before the second advent of Christ.

A slightly different view of history was extracted from Joachim's writings after his death. According to the view with which his name increasingly became associated, history is divided into three periods, the ages of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each of the first two being composed of 42 generations. The third age, which was supposed to dawn about 1260, was to be the age of the Spirit, an age of love, liberty, and freedom in which the principal institution in the world would be monasticism and in which the visible, hierarchical structure of the Catholic Church would be superseded by the Spiritual Church.

One such eschatological movement that founded its doctrine in the writings of Joachim was led by the Franciscan Gerardo of Borgo San Donnino, who was condemned along with the teaching of Joachim in 1256 by Pope Alexander IV. However, the ideas of Joachim, especially the concept of a golden age of the Spirit and the threefold division of history, remained influential in Western thought from the 13th century on."

And it was revealed through the transcending of the Christ Jesus, that each of us are and have always been the holy temples of that new 'spiritual church' ... Let there be no more need of any religious dogma ... Only the desired sharing of love between the brothers and sisters of all humankind ...

Interesting synchronicity there, gio: only the other day I posted something about the medieval Platonist Scotus Eriugena’s view of the trinity as aspects of the creation. These metaphysical aspects will materialize in various ways, and I suppose a series of eras is one conceivable way. Only the dates are usually dodgy. If we decide the time is now, dates are no longer an issue.

Since Joachim lived during the papacy of the ill-named Innocent III (the Cathar inquisition and massacres were on his watch, as was the infamous 4th Crusade that degenerated into the sack of Constantinople), then he surely had to be very careful not to step out of line.

Yes very interesting synchronicity Araucaria and thanks for sharing ...

Joachim was a true visionary (doctor of the church) ... admired and held in high regard especially during his lifetime ...
i believe the church's hierarchy (knowing the truths of his foretelling's) both admired and feared him ...

Note, it was from the lesser of men within the church (who came later) who would attack and condemned his writings ...

i would even encountered them myself within the order, those that oddly associated myself with Joachim ideals ...
Which i had not even know of till they directed me to them.

PS ~ It should be noted, i was slated to be given the name Bartholomew upon entering the fold, but later it was instructed, i be given the name Giovanni (even though my birth name was john) ... i would come to found out (this was due in part as a kind of mockery) due to my ancestral connections to the site of Joachim's chosen Abbey outpost ... Ah the politics of the living Church ...

Again there are no coincidences ...

Yes ~ well note that's the right Reverend Michelle Hopkins speaking in the first video ...
And her comments don't surprise me ... she's considered a wacko/shill on youtube ... to say the least ...

Note the language being used during the mass is Latin and the word Lucifer it is being taken out
of context of what is being proclaimed within the mass text ...

Lucifer (LEW-sif-ər, /ˈl(j)uːsɪfər/) is the King James Version rendering of the Hebrew word הֵילֵל in Isaiah 14:12.[1] This word, transliterated hêlêl[1] or heylel,[2] occurs only once in the Hebrew Bible[1] and according to the KJV-influenced Strong's Concordance means "shining one, morning star".[2] The word Lucifer is taken from the Latin Vulgate,[3] which translates הֵילֵל as lucifer,[4][5] meaning "the morning star, the planet Venus", or, as an adjective, "light-bringing".[6] The Septuagint renders הֵילֵל in Greek as ἑωσφόρος[7][8][9][10][11] (heōsphoros),[12][13][14] a name, literally "bringer of dawn", for the morning star.[15]

In this passage Isaiah applies to a king of Babylon the image of the morning star fallen from the sky, an image he is generally believed to have borrowed from a legend in Canaanite mythology.[16]

Later Christian tradition came to use the Latin word for "morning star", lucifer, as a proper name ("Lucifer") for Satan/the Devil; as he was before his fall.[17] As a result, "'Lucifer' has become a by-word for Satan in the Church and in popular literature",[3] as in Dante Alighieri's Inferno and John Milton's Paradise Lost.[14] However, [I]the Latin word never came to be used almost exclusively, as in English, in this way, and was applied to others also, including Christ.[18]

Ok, noted. We can put aside her commentary and just look at the song and the venue, and wonder why they want to sing at all about Lucifer during this globally broadcasted event. I would think they might want to leave out all the glorious Lucifer songs for another time.

VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis listed 15 "ailments" of the Vatican Curia during his annual Christmas greetings to the cardinals, bishops and priests who run the central administration of the 1.2-billion strong Catholic Church. Here's the list.

1) Feeling immortal, immune or indispensable. "A Curia that doesn't criticize itself, that doesn't update itself, that doesn't seek to improve itself is a sick body."

2) Working too hard. "Rest for those who have done their work is necessary, good and should be taken seriously."

3) Becoming spiritually and mentally hardened. "It's dangerous to lose that human sensibility that lets you cry with those who are crying, and celebrate those who are joyful."

4) Planning too much. "Preparing things well is necessary, but don't fall into the temptation of trying to close or direct the freedom of the Holy Spirit, which is bigger and more generous than any human plan."

5) Working without coordination, like an orchestra that produces noise. "When the foot tells the hand, 'I don't need you' or the hand tells the head 'I'm in charge.'"

6) Having 'spiritual Alzheimer's.' "We see it in the people who have forgotten their encounter with the Lord ... in those who depend completely on their here and now, on their passions, whims and manias, in those who build walls around themselves and become enslaved to the idols that they have built with their own hands."

7) Being rivals or boastful. "When one's appearance, the color of one's vestments or honorific titles become the primary objective of life."

8) Suffering from 'existential schizophrenia.' "It's the sickness of those who live a double life, fruit of hypocrisy that is typical of mediocre and progressive spiritual emptiness that academic degrees cannot fill. It's a sickness that often affects those who, abandoning pastoral service, limit themselves to bureaucratic work, losing contact with reality and concrete people."

9) Committing the 'terrorism of gossip.' "It's the sickness of cowardly people who, not having the courage to speak directly, talk behind people's backs."

10) Glorifying one's bosses. "It's the sickness of those who court their superiors, hoping for their benevolence. They are victims of careerism and opportunism, they honor people who aren't God."

11) Being indifferent to others. "When, out of jealousy or cunning, one finds joy in seeing another fall rather than helping him up and encouraging him."

12) Having a 'funereal face.' "In reality, theatrical severity and sterile pessimism are often symptoms of fear and insecurity. The apostle must be polite, serene, enthusiastic and happy and transmit joy wherever he goes."

13) Wanting more. "When the apostle tries to fill an existential emptiness in his heart by accumulating material goods, not because he needs them but because he'll feel more secure."

14) Forming 'closed circles' that seek to be stronger than the whole. "This sickness always starts with good intentions but as time goes by, it enslaves its members by becoming a cancer that threatens the harmony of the body and causes so much bad — scandals — especially to our younger brothers."

15) Seeking worldly profit and showing off. "It's the sickness of those who insatiably try to multiply their powers and to do so are capable of calumny, defamation and discrediting others, even in newspapers and magazines, naturally to show themselves as being more capable than others."

Oh Gosh, this reformer Pope is such a great person!! (?)

Now, if he could only add to this list...

- stop the sex crimes against families and children
- stop the money laundering with the Vatican bank and its asscoaites
- stop the lying about child trafficking
- stop being hypocrites about homo-sexuality
- stop hiding ancient knowledge from ancient civilzations
- stop bribing world leaders
- stop lying to everyone
- stop pretending to help or care about world poverty or suffering, when the Vatican is the RICHEST ENTITY in the world!

Or, maybe those things will set the bar too high for you giovanni? and your Hero, fake reformist Pope?

Pope Francis’ Christmas Address Blasts Church “Spiritual Diseases”

Pope Francis used the annual Christmas address to the Roman Curia (upper echelons of the Vatican) to criticize the church for “spiritual diseases.” Listing off 15 problems with the church leadership ranging from narcissism, bureaucratic corruption, and a “Messiah complex,” to a “spiritual Alzheimers” that had made the church resistant to change and entrenched in it’s own poor habits, the speech was the toughest criticism yet to come from the Pope. With many of the Vatican leadership feeling alienated by the harsh tone of Pope Francis, is this going to help or hurt his apparent progressive reform agenda for Catholicism? We discuss the Pope’s comments on the Lip News with Jackie Koppell and Gabriel Mizrahi.

Think Francis is serving up a warning, while also making clear to the public what is wrong with the RCC today.

But, much has been wrong with this church for 2000 years.

And the problems have been festering and compounding over 2000 years.

Many are under the illusion that the sexual abuse began in recent decades -- rather this
has been a problem in the church since the very beginning -- and that's according to the
Italians who should know!

In fact, most of the hatreds and viewing of others as "enemies" originates in this church --
Women, Homosexuals, Jews, Semites -- there's a long list.

"Manifest Destiny" and "Man's Dominion Over Nature" must also be recognized as attacks on Nature;
indeed, hatred and fear of Nature.
The license which each of those ideas creates is simply for the benefit of the few who desired to
exploit Nature, Animal-life and our Natural Resources for their own profit.

The glorious days of the beloved Pope John XXIII'd, who sought to make the church a democracy with Vatican II, aren't exactly back, tho Francis seems
well-intended.
Question is whether he will suffer the same premature death that a number of
other popes post-Vatican II have suffered?

The Vatican still does not acknowledge the full personhood of females as it acknowledges the full personhood of males.

Artificial birth control is still a hot-wire in the church as it relates to their future membership -- and also bears on the issue of abortion. Granting the right to decide for oneself as to whether or not to use birth control (as granted by Vatican II in the right of every Catholic to personal conscience) also opens the pathways to "choice."

I'd also comment that the RCC repeatedly tries to suggest that the sexual abusers within the church are homosexuals. Actually, while it is males who are our sexual abusers of chiildren, heterosexual males are 100X more likely to sexually abuse a child than a homosexual male. There was a time actually in Hawaii when homosexuals were honored for their care of children who were without parents.
And, in fact, studies show they pretty much have never found a lesbian ever to be responsible for sexually abusing a child, anywhere.

That said, we also should not deny that there is a large homosexual priesthood in the Vatican who seek adult relationships. And, very interesting video.

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity ...

Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that ... Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable ... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals ...

We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.

The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people ...
I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.

"The Great Reformer": Pope Francis Biographer on How
Pontiff Became Star Diplomat & Voice for Change

Pope Francis emerged this year as a star diplomat when he played a key role in the thawing of relations between the Cuba and the United States and presidents of both countries thanked him by name for his support. Earlier this month, the pope offered to assist the United States with another diplomatic hurdle: its efforts to close the Guantánamo prison. The Vatican has reportedly offered to help find adequate humanitarian solutions through its international contacts. We speak with Austen Ivereigh, whose new biography about the pope outlines these achievements, including the pontiff's call for the Catholic Church "to create still broader opportunities for a more incisive female presence" even as he has stopped short of embracing the ordination of women to the priesthood. Ivereigh also examines Pope Francis' recent steps to recognize the significance of liberation theology in Latin America, which has faced a decades-long attack by the Vatican for its socialist orientation.

Of course the license to exploit -- "Manifest Destiny" and "Man's Dominion Over Nature" are native to the RCC --

I wish the pope was as interested in the pedophilles in his church as he seems to be about climate change. Climate change is a good issue also a good diversion from all the churh horrors.

Agree --
That issue represents huge amounts of money for the church.
Meanwhile, the delay will discourage others from coming forward --
and perhaps some will die off?
The pedophile priests imay also die off?

It's also an issue of money which enraged Catholics who began to understand
that church property in their locales was being sold off to pay for the lawsuits
and these members began to demand access to financial records of their
parishes. Quite a danger zone there!

Granted the issue has also severely damaged the church -- which had already
written off North America and Canada and seems Mexico may be next as they
awaken. Their fortunes are now to be found in Africa and China!

On the issue of sexual abuse of children we should all understand that our sexual
abusers of children are males. Even right-wing women's groups agree with that.
However, it is heterosexual males who sexually abuse children -- not homosexual males.
Heterosexual males are 100X more likely to sexually abuse a child than a homosexual male. Additionally, in all history, it seems not one lesbian has ever

Pope urges Muslim leaders to condemn religious-based violence

Reuters) - "Pope Francis on Monday condemned the killings by Islamist militants in Paris last week and urged Muslim leaders around the world to condemn fundamentalist interpretations of religion which attempt to justify violence in God's name.

"Violence is always the product of a falsification of religion, its use a pretext for ideological schemes whose only goal is power over others," the pope said.

The Argentine pope, 78, made his comments in his annual meeting with diplomats accredited to the Vatican in a speech that has come to be known as his "State of the World" address.

Francis said the killings in Paris showed how the rejection of the beliefs of other people could lead to "the breakdown of society and spawning violence and death.

"We see painful evidence of this in the events reported daily in the news, not least the tragic slayings which took place in Paris a few days ago."

Seventeen people, including journalists and police, were killed in three days of violence that began on Wednesday with a shooting attack by Islamist militants on the political weekly Charlie Hebdo, known for its satirical cartoons about Islam and other religions.

"I express my hope that religious, political and intellectual leaders, especially those of the Muslim community, will condemn all fundamentalist and extremist interpretations of religion which attempt to justify such acts of violence," the pope said in a section about the Middle East.

Francis has several times in the past months condemned Islamic State fighters who have killed or displaced Shi'ite Muslims, Christians and others in Syria and Iraq who do not share the group's ideologies."

Hi Curious 77,

I appreciate all your points.

On the issue of church property, it's too bad the church did not sell some of its

treasures stored in vatican archives instead of church properties that catholics

thought was theirs to share with the church. It seems that the only thing that

"I think a major schism is forming in the Roman Catholic Church, and this report is one of the data points that lead me to this. Cardinal Leo Burke, notable for his frilly lacy vestments, his virulent distaste for homosexuality and, as this report reveals, his very strange views on sex in general represents the old church of Paul and Benedict. He is not alone and it will be interesting to see how his wing of the church deals with what Francis’ is doing. You will note that this Theocratic Rightist site published this as a laudatory interview. Also observe that this is really an article about the distorted sexuality of men operating under color of religious authority."

Pope Francis Plea for Climate Action Revives Concept of
"The Commons" to Rethink Economy & Society

From Democracy Now

"We continue our coverage of Pope Francis's visit to the Philippines, the country most impacted by global warming, ahead of his plans to issue the first-ever comprehensive Vatican teachings on climate change. The pope recently said the warming planet is "frequently exploited by human greed and rapacity." We are joined by Nathan Schneider, a columnist at America magazine, a national Catholic weekly magazine published by the Jesuits, where he has been covering Catholic engagement with climate change. "This is a different way of thinking about economics that is a part of Catholic tradition," Schneider says. "Pope Francis talking about the environment, about creation, is not an innovation; it is a response to a contemporary crisis. But it goes way back, to the scriptures, to Genesis." Schneider's recent article is "A Global Catholic Climate Movement, None Too Soon." He is also an editor at Waging Nonviolence and the author of "Thank You, Anarchy: Notes from the Occupy Apocalypse.""

A judge in the southern Spanish city of Granada has charged 10 Catholic priests with sexually abusing altar boys in their care, in a case that has prompted Pope Francis to intervene.

The Pope telephoned one of the victims, who was 14 at the time of alleged abuse, after receiving a personal letter at the Vatican last year. Francis, who has led a wide-ranging crackdown on clerical sexual abuse since becoming Pontiff almost two years ago, apologised to the victim.
He also ordered an internal investigation – a move that prompted the Archbishop of Granada, Francisco Javier Martinez, and fellow priests to publicly prostrate themselves in front of the altar of Granada’s cathedral last November, in a gesture of remorse for failings by the Church...

Tying The Knot(s)

"Tomorrow morning I will profess my Temporary, or “Simple,” Vows as a Franciscan Friar. What’s that mean, you ask? It means that starting tomorrow I am bound by canon law and the Order of Friars Minor to live the Rule of 1223, as interpreted by the General Constitutions and Statutes of the Order, “in obedience, without anything of my own and in chastity,” for a period of one year. For the next four years, I will have to renew them each year until I am ready to take Solemn, or “Final,” vows.

For some, especially in my commitment-fearing generation, the idea of taking vows such as these seems binding and suffocating. You mean you have to share everything? You can’t have sex? You have to do what other people tell you to do the rest of your life? That’s one way of looking at it. I, on the other hand, see it as a liberating experience.

For the rest of my life I will have a form of life to guide me. By this, I don’t mean to say that all of the sudden I will be a changed individual, completely others-centered and sinless the rest of my life, free from worry and inhibition. Rather, I mean to say that vows before God are serious reminders, inspirations, blueprints, and even excuses to act a certain way, and that, though there will not be a noticeable conversion from one day to the next, it is impossible to stay steadfast to them and also hold onto the worries of the world. What I accomplish, my career, how well I’m liked, how comfortable I am, having the right clothes, the reputation that proceeds me, and how much control I have over my life, are all worries that will eventually fade away when I recognize the significance of what I’m doing: I am consecrating my life to God. Sure, I’ll still bear the mark of a sinful human wanting to fill myself with things that do not last, but there is a part of me, if I let it out, that will never have to worry about anything more than pleasing God.

That’s why, while there are many good reasons to enter a religious order, the primary reason absolutely has to be a longing to be in deeper relationship with God. Fraternity, poverty, humility, ministry, and really cool 12th century clothing are all great, but they are not ends in themselves. Even the vows themselves, poverty, chastity, and obedience, are merely disciplines that hope to find something greater. The true end, the purpose for this life, is to love God more deeply and to seek greater communion/reconciliation with him.

When one begins to look at the vows from this perspective, there is nothing “binding” or “suffocating” about them; they’re simply liberating. Sure, financial liberty, private assets, sex, family life, independence, and professional success can all be very good things. But for me, these are all things that could distract me from giving myself fully to God. In this way, the vows are a means by which I keep unwanted distractions, although good things for others, out of my life so that I am more free to do what I really desire. Trust me when I say that taking vows is the most liberating thing that I will do in my life."

Though now i understand it to be a solitary path ...
Believe it or not, i continue upward on my climb back ... :)

Desire, you need to really do some homework and perhaps go over the rest of this thread.

Note, i had already been successful in my early life as a paramedic, but then suffered an injury which damaged my lower spine. i recovered and then worked as a logistics manager for a major medical laboratory ... i worked very hard for a number of years, before having developed heart disease ... Then having to undergo triple bypass surgery ... My doctors advised me to get out of any kind of stressful living or work. Please note, having been already raised Catholic and having witnessed a downward moral spiraling of the
U. S. Roman Catholic Church ... i thought perhaps i could serve my then faith and the rest of my life as a Franciscan Friar, in bringing a new and fresh layperson's perspective and energy into a floundering fish.

So having already reached mid-adulthood (age 44), i sought out a monk's life. After serving a short medical vocation as a brother... i left twenty years ago, then having witnessed first hand an institution not quite ready (or willing) to change yet from within. It should also be noted, i was married (then divorced) early in my adult life, my brief marriage produced a lovely daughter in her forties now (who also has blessed me with a beautiful granddaughter).

i really don't know what my remaining on this forum has to do with my past association with the Catholic Church, Though (for that matter) is it really any business of yours for asking here. Ms Desire (i assume), i am finding your forum commenting behavior quite odd at times, though i still wishing you all the best while your here.

Vatican "Sexy Blonde” Video Slammed by Critics

From LipTV

"The Vatican has been criticized over the "sexy blonde" actress in their #LifeofWomen promo video. In the video for the women's initiative, attractive Italian actress Nancy Brilli encourages women to send in recordings that answer the question "Who are you?" The Catholic Church has been slammed by critics for using what is being called a "sex sells" view of women in discussing women's issues. The English-language version of the promo has since been pulled by religious officials. We take a look at the controversial video, in this Lip News clip with Elliot Hill and Mark Sovel."

Gio is one of the hardest working members, posting countless entries of interesting and valuable information here, without remuneration and often without thanks.
But he is very much appreciated by many here, and if you want to make yourself very unpopular here really fast, you're off to a good start.
It's fine if you have differing opinions, but courtesy and good manners are not optional on Avalon.

I do not understand why you spread you hatred unto him. Many many great spiritual being have chosen monk Hood (if we can say it this way) in order to evolve further, in Orient as well as in Occident - what is the difference, between a Buddhist monk and a Christian monk???? Tell me. Becoming recluse is part of the path of evolution for many humans, your despise without acquaintance with the individual and its work does not have its place. IMO.

And yes, when I revert to my mothertongue as an entry to the post, it means I am exasperated.

Pope Francis attacks 'throw-away' economic globalization

Sat Feb 28, 2015

(Reuters) - "Pope Francis launched a fresh attack on economic injustice on Saturday, condemning the "throw-away culture" of globalization and calling for new ways of thinking about poverty, welfare, employment and society.

In a speech to the association of Italian cooperative movements, he pointed to the "dizzying rise in unemployment" and the problems that existing welfare systems had in meeting healthcare needs.

For those living "at the existential margins" the current social and political system "seems fatally destined to suffocate hope and increase risks and threats," he said.

The Argentinian-born pope, who has often criticized orthodox market economics for fostering unfairness and inequality, said people were forced to work long hours, sometimes in the black economy, for a few hundred euros a month because they were seen as easily replaceable.

"'You don't like it? Go home then'. What can you do in a world that works like this? Because there's a queue of people looking for work. If you don't like it, someone else will," he said in an unscripted change from the text of his speech.

"It's hunger, hunger that makes us accept what they give us," he said.

His remarks have a special resonance in Italy, where unemployment, particularly among young people, is running at record levels after years of economic recession.

The cooperative movement in Italy, whose roots go back to 19th century workers' associations, have long had close ties to the Catholic Church, with credit services, agricultural and building co-ops forming an important part of the overall economy.

Pope Francis said they could help find new models and methods that could be an alternative model to the "throw-away culture created by the powers that control the economic and financial policies of the globalized world."

Perhaps mindful of a wide-ranging corruption scandal linked to some cooperatives in Rome last year, he attacked those who "prostitute the cooperative name".

But his overall message was that economic rationale had to be secondary to the wider needs of human society.

"When money becomes an idol, it commands the choices of man. And thus it ruins man and condemns him. It makes him a slave," he said.

"Money at the service of life can be managed in the right way by cooperatives, on condition that it is a real cooperative where capital does not have command over men but men over capital," he said."

Pope Francis has made a special request to have lunch on Saturday with an estimated 100 prisoners from Giuseppe Salvia Detention Center near Naples including some that reportedly come from a section reserved for gay and transgender HIV-infected inmates. The lunch is yet another reminder of the progressive tone that the Pope has been trying to set on social issues within the Catholic Church. In addition to this, fluctuations in the dosages of any type of hypertension medication can cause weight gain for some people too and he may be one of them. Am only guessing here and have not received any clairvoyant messages about the pope on this matter but on a gut level, I don't think he's as healthy as they've been letting on at the Vatican.:pizza:

I'm guessing that he probably already has an enlarged heart too but then again that's not surprising as this pope indeed has a "big heart" anyways.

Yes - with the recent statements coming from Francis in regards to the future of his papacy, i would imagine many might have been heightened to the prospects of something bigger coming from atop the Vatican balcony on this most recent Easter Sunday ... Instead his message focused on a simpler and much more realistic message ...
“Love has triumphed over hatred, life has conquered death, light has dispelled the darkness!” (http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/2015/04/05/pope_francis_urbi_et_orbi_message/1134742) ...

As i have stated before, 'i left my religion years ago, but still believe in the love of Christ' ... But it is my hope that someday (soon) there will emerge from the ashes of the Catholic Church a new beginning for mankind. Though there are still many good religious vocationer's that work within it's confines, the future looks bleak for the second coming which they all are awaiting for ... Still i sense a new wave of consciousness already unfolding on this planet, that will beckon into a much more fruitful and idealistic existence for those here and still to come.

Perhaps Pope Francis might surprise us all and encourage those prospects ... In that he will forsake the corrupted throne of Saint Peter and announce to the world that in which you asked 'is there intelligent extraterrestrial life' amongst us ... i am not a betting man, but from his most recent extraordinary changes in behavioral/tone ...
i sense he would be the most logical and forthright person for such a revelation to come ... :)

Yes there's really nothing to fear Juan ... Not even death ...

“To fear death, gentlemen, is no other than to think oneself wise when one is not, to think one knows what one does not know. No one knows whether death may not be the greatest of all blessings for a man, yet men fear it as if they knew that it is the greatest of evils.”
― Socrate

And if Francis is really a good and holy man ... Then he should have no fear of evil.

Why the Future of Religion Is Bleak

By Daniel C. Dennett
April 26, 2015

"Religious institutions have survived by controlling what their adherents know, argues Tufts Prof. Daniel C. Dennett, but today that is next to impossible ----

Religion has been waning in influence for several centuries, especially in Europe and North America. There have been a few brief and local revivals, but in recent years the pace of decline has accelerated.

Behind the decline

With hardly any significant exceptions, religion recedes whenever human security and well-being rises, a fact that has recently been shown in numerous studies, but was suspected by John Calvin in the 16th century. He noted that the more prosperous and comfortable his Genevans became, the less dependent they were on church. Presumably, those who deplore the decline of religion in the world today would not welcome the sort of devastation and despair that could give religion its second wind.

There is no other plausible scenario that could halt the slide, for a fairly obvious reason: the recent rapid growth of mutual knowledge, thanks to the global spread of electronic and digital communication.

Any institution—just like a person or an organism—depends on a modicum of privacy in which to conduct its business and control its activities without too much interference and too many prying eyes. Religious institutions, since their founding millennia ago, have managed to keep secrets and to control what their flocks knew about the world, about other religions and about the inner workings of their own religion with relative ease. Today it is next to impossible.

What is particularly corrosive to religion isn’t just the newly available information that can be unearthed by the curious, but the ambient knowledge that is shared by the general populace."

Truth Connections

Katherine Buckalew with Leo Zagami

"Leo Zagami joined Truth Connections to discuss; Money, Masons, Occultism, Satanism, pedophilia, ritual abuse, human trafficking, mind control, CIA, drugs, corruption, ISIS, the Göbekli Tepe connection and much more regarding the decline of the Catholic Church" ...

Background:

Leo Lyon Zagami, writer and researcher, is the son of Dr. Elio Zagami (1939-2010), a well known Jungian analyst, writer and co-founder of GAPA (Independent Group of Analytical Psychology, of which he was president). He is the grandson of Senator Leopoldo Zagami, a Sicilian politician who was also a a known historian and author, who married into the the aristocratic family of the Marquis de Gregorio. Leo is the son of Jessica Lyon Young, a member of the family of the Queen Mother of England, the daughter of Henry Lyon Young, also a writer. Felicity Mason, Leo’s grandmother, helped Leo very much in developing his talents from a young age, and was an old time collaborator and friend of avant-garde eccentrics such as William Burroughs, and Brion Gysin. She was also known under the pseudonym Anne Cumming.

Zagami, who was known for a brilliant career as Leo Young in the 80’s and 90’s, in the media and music industry. In 2006, Leo became popular on the internet as the result of his blog on his direct involvement with the NWO and the Illuminati. He began publishing between 2009 and 2014, a series of books in Europe and in Japan based on a variety of subjects that range from history of the secret societies and the Vatican to geo-political matters concerning the New World Order. In 2014 Leo spent time in the US, where he finished writing a new book on the occult side of Music, the Illuminati and Hollywood that has been published in November 2014 in his native Italy. He is currently publishing the 4th volume of his Confessions in May 2015; that will be released in the English language in 2017 as Invisible Master. He travels around the world giving conferences and is the president of the Cultural Association called Ordo Illuminatorum Universalis which helps spread knowledge and work, based in Florence, Italy.

Pope Calls on World Youth to Rise Up Against Global Capitalism

By David Icke on 14th July 2015 The Money Scam

http://www.davidicke.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Untitled-422.jpg

‘The latest call for a youth uprising against global capitalism came not from
grassroots groups, but from the leader of the Catholic Church, who on Sunday
gave a rousing speech during which he told a crowd of young people in Paraguay
that it is their time to ‘make a mess.’

The address marked the end of Pope Francis’ week-long pilgrimage to Latin America,
during which he also assailed the prevailing economic system as the ‘dung of the devil,
’ saying that the systemic ‘greed for money’ is a ‘subtle dictatorship’ that “condemns
and enslaves men and women.”

Pope Francis will render a worldwide wake up call to help humanity understand the destruction that man is rendering to the environment and his fellow man.

Gripreaper will render a worldwide wake up call to help humanity understand the destruction that the Vatican and the psychopathic alien interlopers are rendering to the environment and the indigenous humans of planet earth.

Gripreaper will will render a worldwide wake up call to show how these nefarious interlopers absconded with the very essence of humanity through hybrid DNA splicing, slave labor, imperialistic raping and pillaging of natural resources, mind control, and human blood sacrifice and ritual.

Gripreaper will will render a worldwide wake up call to show how the agenda of these psychopathic interlopers is not in harmony with mankind, but is designed to vampire all of the energy of humanity for their own hedonistic aggrandizement and to utterly destroy mankind through genocide.

Gripreaper will render a worldwide wake up call about how mankind is enslaved through debt in commerce, how freedom and liberty are illusions, and how assets and ownership are also an illusion.

Gripreaper will render a worldwide wake up call to point out the destruction being rendered to the environment and his fellow man through chemtrails, GMO foods, fluoridated water, microwave frequency, vaccines, pharmaceuticals, and media propaganda.

Gripreaper will render a worldwide wake up call to help humanity understand that all the institutions who are supposed to help us are destroying humanity, such as religions, governments, military's, science, universities, corporations, schools, courts of justice, and media.

Gripreaper will render a worldwide wake up call to help humanity understand the destruction that man is rendering to the environment and his fellow man by supporting these control freaks and how we have acquiesced to their system, and how we are complacent, lethargic, and self possessed and how we are no longer sovereign, self responsible, self actualized and self realized.

Gripreaper will render a worldwide wake up call to help humanity understand that the way to help his fellow man out of this mess is to go inside, look at your beliefs, heal the discordant energies, stop supporting the beast system, and become self responsible for husbanding nature, the earth and oneself.

There, fixed it for ya :)

'There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance—that principle is ADMIRATION prior to investigation.
This is a variation of a quote from William Paley (https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/William_Paley)

I had to think of this great John Lennon song.

Wow,,,,You nailed it shut Pope Gripreaper. :clapping: I Cant wait to attend your event, as I am only 30 minutes from the location. Amen, Godspeed and God Bless ,,,,Pope Gripreaper.

Who Are the Jesuits? The Vatican’s Secret Agents or Military Order?

FarOutRadio Scott Teeters with Robert W. Sullivan IV

Topic:

Robert W. Sullivan IV talks about the Jesuits and his new book, “The Royal Arch of Enoch”

The murky roll of the “Society of Jesus,” aka, the Jesuits. Many claim that the Jesuits is the military/religious wing of the Roman Catholic Church. The Jesuits have been connected with the Knights Templar, Dr. John Dee, Scottish Rites Masons, the Illuminati, the French Revolution, and World War II.

The “official” work is in the areas of founding schools, colleges, universities, and seminaries, as well as intellectual research, and cultural pursuits. Jesuits also minister in hospitals and parishes, give retreats, and promote ecumenical dialog, and social justice. Are there still Jesuits skulking around behind the scenes of world power?

Columbus, Catholic Church & Courts: The Ongoing Destruction of Native Americans

Sean Stone with Steven Newcomb

How Native Americans have been destroyed by Columbus, Catholic Church doctrine, and the courts of the United States is explained by Pagans in the Promised Land author, Steven Newcomb. We look at the religious framework for the European land grab and blood bath that devastated native peoples, and the court justification based on clear European and religious supremacy. How American Indians lost their land, and who really benefits from modern Indian Casinos and gaming, as well as how Genesis 1:28 has been used as a justification of mass extermination is revealed in this Buzzsaw interview, hosted by Sean Stone.

GUEST BIO:

Steven Newcomb’s book Pagans in the Promised Land: Decoding the Doctrine of Christian Discovery” was published by Fulcrum in 2008. Newcomb’s scholarship challenges the Vatican pattern of domination and dehumanization found in papal documents from the fifteenth century that has and continues to deeply influence U.S. federal Indian law and policy. Filmmaker Sheldon Wolfchild (Dakota) and Mr. Newcomb (Shawnee, Lenape) have completed a compelling documentary entitled “The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code,” based on Newcomb’s research and scholarship. The movie also expresses the Wisdom Teachings of Original Nations as expressed by traditional Elders such as Birgil Kills Straight (Oglala Lakota).

This is an odd one I posted this on the 9/11 thread as the first hour or so is about
the neo -con agenda after 1990 up to now. Then they branch out into the
Vatican,Jesuit , ET contact , consciousness and much more . I know you listen to a
lot of these interviews so I thought the second half fits here, Daniel says he was
the Jesuits legal representative in the US for 15years. I was listening to it and
posting bits below as I was going along. I just finished and was originally debating
whether to post it as a thread , there is a lot of info on it really for the more
experienced listeners . As some of which you may or may not agree with, but all of
it has been debated over the years by one researcher or another and the
mainstream. Its all about interpretation and I'm not sure if he thinks 9/11 was
an inside job and several other points were not clear as he was talking fast
and put a lot of info especially in the first bit. Still I thought it interesting.

I just noticed the Buzz saw you posted above , I like Shauns approach to
to interviews and his insights.

=============================================
=============================================

Interview starts aprox 30 mins , I'm listening to this vid and straight from
the start of the interview Danny Sheehan starts explaining the neo - con
planning for the new American century and going into some interesting
stuff about Saudi , Iraq and the fall of the Soviets and the importance
of keeping the mil ind complex going. He gives a comprehensive run down
of events from the early 90's .........He brings in Bin Laden , Bush Snr ,
Prince Bandar , All the usual Neo - con suspects and the creating of TNWO.

He seems to coming from a 'mainstream / alternate' view of what happened
and it is plausible. Basically saying a lot of material that has been put
forward in other interviews and articles that have been posted over the
years in a straight forward way. He has talked a lot about Bin Laden,
and how he was sucked in By George Bush snr , using Theodore Shackley
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore_Shackley ,to attack the
Towers .

This is where I disagree , as there is to much evidence that 9/11 was an
inside job for me . Though he did not spell out who actually did, a lot gets
glossed over as he is covering a lot of ground. Then you can go back to what
Daniel is saying ,about CIA , and the seven western oil companies wheeler
dealing .He is obviously cramming a lot of info into a relatively short space ,
but is still good and interesting over all so far....

He does explain the oil barons well and how they have controlled the world,
via control of the US for the past century thru the power full industrial and
banking families and later their corporate successors. Then he talks about
the Pope and being ready if there is contact with ET's after the discovery of
all the exo planets over the last two decades , and a meeting Daniel had at
the Vatican with the popes astronomical representative father Funes.

Kosta does not get word in until aprox 1hr40 min mark when he joins in on
the ET contact project. Then they go into raising consciousness and much more.

I may post this as a separate thread ? depending where it goes.

Danny Sheehan and Kosta Makreas join the show...and we start off with Danny going
through the history of the Middle East and how it all started with Cheney back in 1991
playing both sides and starting a war...all the way through today and the recent events
in Paris. Danny just got back from meetings at the Vatican about ET contact as well as
the NWO and the 1% that drive the economy...he and Kosta then tie everything together
in a brilliant conversation.

231 children participating in a choir run by Pope Benedict’s brother,
Georg Ratzinger, were sexually and physically abused by priests.

http://cdns.yournewswire.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Georg-Ratzinger-and-pope-benedict-xvi-512x350.jpg

Just when I think the Catholic sexual child abuse scandal is finally over, another cultural IED blows up. This one is mind-boggling. Reading it I could only wonder if this was a factor in Pope Benedict resigning and retiring.

The take away is that whenever religions — of whatever denomination or sect — try to manipulate human sexuality, only damage, pathology, and pain results.

NEOnline/GK - New Europe

"231 children, who participated in a choir led by Pope Benedict’s brother, were sexually and physically abused by priests.

The first allegations for the sexual and physical abuse of children in Domspatzen – which is the official choir for St. Peter’s Cathedral in Bavaria, Germany – made public in 2010 when well-known German composer, Franz Wittenbrink, told the German magazine Spiegel he had been abused while enrolled in the choir.

On Friday, a lawyer who is hired for investigating the case, announced that 231 children in the choir were abused physically and sexually between 1953 and 1992, many by the director of the affiliated Roman Catholic school in Regensburg. According to AFP news agency, the number of the victims is now three times more, compared with a previous church report.

The Domspatzen choir was led between 1964 and 1994 by Georg Ratzinger, brother of Pope Benedict XVI and lawyer-investigator Ulrich Weber, said that he “must assume” that Georg Ratzinger had at least some knowledge of the children’s abuse. However, Ratzinger is not accused of committing any of the alleged crimes.

According to Slate.com, Ratzinger now lives in retirement at the Vatican and his brother Pope Benedict was accused before and during his tenure as pope, of playing a key role in covering up the sexual abuse cases which hit the Vatican church.

According to AFP, Weber said the reported instances of sexual abuse included offenses such as fondling and rape while physical abuses such as withholding food and beatings also occurred. Wittenbrink, also told Spiegel in 2010, that there was a “system of sadistic punishments connected to sexual pleasure,” in the “religious” school."

Unprecedented: Pope Francis and Russian Patriarch Kirill to meet in Cuba to heal 1,000 year rift

By David on 6th February 2016 Religous Fraud

‘The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, is to meet his Roman
Catholic counterpart, Pope Francis, during a historic visit to Latin America. The
groundbreaking meeting is to happen in mid-February in Cuba.

The meeting between heads the two major Christian churches would be an
unprecedented move to mend a millennium-long rift between the Western and
Eastern branches of the religion, which started with the Great Schism of 1054.

The upcoming meeting confirms Russia’s status in the Christian world, according to
Alexandr Avdeev Russia’s ambassador to the Holy See. “In light of the Western
sanctions, the meeting between the two celebrants is a confirmation of Russia’s role
in Christian civilization,” he told TASS.’

THE PERSECUTION, THE PATRIACH, AND LAST AND LEAST, THE POPE
Posted on February 7, 2016 by Joseph P. Farrell

"This story was the subject of much discussion in last Friday's members' vidchat, and then, after the end of that event, many people sent me this version of the story from Russia's Sputnik site, and there's much food for thought here.

But first, I'd like to put all my cards on the table, and explain the title of today's blog, and why I am emphasizing the Papacy last, and least in the headline, and it is not simply because of my long association in the past with Eastern Orthodoxy, but that is part of it. It has always bothered me - perhaps intensely - that the modern secular West seems almost viscerally afraid of Eastern Orthodox cultures, and especially, of Russia. One person sent me a version of this story from a website, and the title of the article said it all: "Humble Pope To Meet Scandallous Patriarch," meaning of course, Patriarch Kryil of Moscow. The scandal here concerns criticism of Kyril's rather lavish lifestyle that has occurred in Russia. Whether true or not, it was an attitude that I've seen before, as long ago as my professorial days teaching medieval history, when one of my textbooks had a chapter (only one chapter!) devoted to covering the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic Middle Ages, in a chapter somewhat rudely and dismissively titled "Europe's Neighbors." The meaning was clear: "Europe" meant the societies that emerged from the Christian West, i.e., the from the Latin Church and Papacy; the East remained an inscrutable reliquary, not worth studying in depth and comparing to the West, and this was particularly the case in the study of the major differences in theological formulation - and yes, the differences between the two churches are major, and not minor - that lead to major differences in church government, piety, and ultimately the cultures that emerged in each case.

But there's another operative factor here, and that is what happened at the Second Vatican Council held in the 1960s under the pontificates of John XXIII (Angelo Cardinal Roncalli) and his successor Paul VI(Giovanni Cardinal Montini). Without getting into the gory details of the Second Vatican Council, for all intentions and purposes virtually every classical formulation of Roman Catholic teaching was abandoned for a stew of platitudinous pronouncements, especially on relationships to other religious bodies, including Islam. The only "traditional" language that remained was the language concerning definitions of papal claims, power, and prerogative, and these would would have pleased a Pius IX (Giovanni-Maria Cardinal Mastai-Ferreti), who succeeded in having the papacy proclaimed infallible at the First Vatican Council in 1870-71. (And, for the record, there was significant opposition at this council and after it to the definition, though the opposition ultimately failed. But that's another story.)

Under this new "ecumenical" outlook, a whole host of "dialogues" with the Islamic world was initiated; dialogues that have, to this day, not succeeded in seeing any Christian churches opened in Saudi Arabia, and which have produced no ameliorations of the second-hand status of non-Mulsims in many Islamic societies, and which, to the contrary, have presided over a period of increasing persecution of Christians - be they Roman Catholic, Orthodox Catholic, Coptic, Nestorian, or Armenian - in the Islamic world. To put it bluntly, but plainly, it has been a stellar, and stunning, record of failure. But after all, it is difficult to negotiate with an unreconstructed ideology of warfare against ... well, against just about everybody that isn't Islamic. As the former Muslim and scholar Ibn Warraq put it, the Islamic world needs not just a Reformation, but an Enlightenment. To the Vatican's credit, however, Pope John Paul II did warn that American unipolarism and intervention in Iraq would spiral out of control, and lead to increasing persecution of Christians. His foresight has proven to be the case.

Which is why I find recent pronouncements from the Vatican so very interesting from this ecumenico-historical point of view, for Vatican spokesmen, including Pope Francis I himself, have made it clear, that Christians have the right of self-defence under the conditions that the old compact of their tolerance under otherwise reprehensible regimes of Saddam Hussein or, yes, a Bashar Al-Assad or Hosni Mubarek, has been broken.

In that rather broad context, then, consider this article on the meeting to take place between Russian Orthodox Catholic Patriach of Moscow, Kyril, and Roman Catholic Pope Francis, in, of all places, Havanna Cuba:

Orthodox, and Roman, Catholic Leader meeting Vital to Protect Christians

What I found intriguing about Sputnik's take here is that the purpose of the meeting clearly is to discuss the persecution of Christians, which has reached epic proportions in the Middle East and Africa, with little being said by Western leaders. The choice of Havana itself is interesting, since Cuba is, of course, a largely Roman Catholic country, with a long history of association with Russia during the Cold War, making it difficult to ascertain if this meeting and its venue was largely a Vatican initiative, or that of the Patriarchate of Moscow. My intuition says that this was perhaps a bit of both, and that it has been in long quiet preparation.

In any case, it's tremendous grist for the mill of our high octane speculation, for what does it really portend? I suspect, and suspect strongly, that it portends a huge geopolitcal shift is in the offing, and that religion, or if you will, "Christian civilization" is the cover behind which it is being engineered. It is this factor that makes me suspect that Russia and the Moscow Patriarchate played more than a merely passive or respondent role to Vatican initiatives, for if this analysis be true, then we can expect any statement or statements to come from this meeting to do two things: (1) to emphasize the need for honest dialogue with the Islamic world, and not just a perpetual capitulation of the Christian to the Islamic worlds. In other words, expect the usual platidudinous ecumenical flannel, but lurking behind it, a subtle but nonetheless discernible change in tone behind the warm fuzzies and group hugs. (2) But I also suspect, if not in any initial statements, then in future "clarifications" both from Moscow and Rome, that it will be made clear that this right of Christians in the region to self-defense in the face of brutal, medieval, and barbaric persecution, that this right extends and is to be understood to include economic security, equal status before the law, and ultimately, the right to use force or to request military assistance - perhaps in the guise of "international peacekeeprs" - to secure those conditions. One can also look forward to some subtle, but firm, opposition both from the Russian government, the Moscow Patriarchate, and the Vatican, to you-know-who's not-so-subtle attempts to introduce "anti-blasphemy provisions" against its religion at the U.N., an effort that undermines the most fundamental condition of any free society: free speech.

This sweeping geopolitical and cultural change - if this "high octane reading" be true - also signals something else, and it is equally as significant as the meeting itself. When Jorge Cardinal Bergolio was elected and took the name Francis for his pontificate, I suggested that perhaps this was a signal that the Vatican powers-that-be in the Curia were recognizing, at long last, that the center of Roman Catholicism had shifted from its historical home in Europe and the First World, to the second and third worlds, and that it was thus to be considered a "bridge" papacy to a realignment, more openly, with those worlds. While the Vatican will continue to be intertwined, financially, with the West for some time to come, make no mistake, meeting with the Patriarch of Moscow may also signal that shift of orientation.

If any of these predictions and speculations are true, then we can expect them to be borne out, slowly.

Time, of course, will tell if all these high octane speculations and predictions are true or not. But whether they are or are not, the meeting itself, and its venue in Cuba - a country with its own track record of religious persecutions - is significant enough. To put it country simple, I suspect that the venue's choice was deliberately chosen by both churches to emphasize that they mean business."

See you on the flip side" ...

Why are the Patriarch & Pope meeting in Cuba?

"Logistically, Havana turned out to be a great place for the Christian leaders to meet as both are about to start their tours through Latin America. RT's Ilya Petrenko reports from Cuba, where 79% of the religious population is Catholic - but that doesn't mean there are no Orthodox landmarks."

Catholic bishops not obliged to report clerical child abuse, Vatican says

http://www.schwartzreport.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Cardinal-Reinhard-Marx-Pell.jpg

This guidance from the Vatican is so bizarre one has to ask what is actually going on? Here’s my take: The proportion of the Roman Catholic clergy that is homosexual or bisexual, but in any case not celibate, is so large, and there are so many people who would be involved and embarrassed that this community can bend policy to their aims, even in the face of ridicule and derision.

Stephan A. Schwartz

Stephanie Kirchgaessner - The Guardian (U.K.)

The Catholic church is telling newly appointed bishops that it is “not necessarily” their duty to report accusations of clerical child abuse and that only victims or their families should make the decision to report abuse to police.

A document that spells out how senior clergy members ought to deal with allegations of abuse, which was recently released by the Vatican, emphasised that, though they must be aware of local laws, bishops’ only duty was to address such allegations internally ... Catholic Church Sex Abuse is ‘Scandalous’ Betrayal - Pope Advisor

From The LipTV

Top Pope Francis advisor Cardinal George Pell admitted Sunday that the Catholic Church has made "enormous mistakes" in dealing with sexual abuse allegations as he testified at a public hearing of an Australian investigative commission in Rome. Was Pell complicit in the church’s cover up of the sexual abuse of thousands of children by priests over centuries? We look at the Vatican’s lack of transparency on the Lip News with Elliot Hill and Sasha Kai Parker.

Catholicism’s multibillion-dollar brand is struggling despite Pope Francis

http://www.schwartzreport.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Catholicisms-multibillion-dollar-brand-is-struggling-despite-Pope-Francis.jpg

"I don’t do stories on the sexual dysfunction issues surrounding the institutional Roman Catholic Church unless there is something notably egregious about a particular story. Part of the reason for my decision about this is that I do not want SR to be seen as a Catholic bashing website. That is not my personal feeling and I don’t want even the appearance of bashing. The other reason is that I could run child abuse stories everyday. And I am not speaking here of just the U.S.. The media of Ireland, Poland, and Australia, to name but three nations have reports on child sexual abuse literally everyday, and it is more or less the same story each time. Other than numbers there is nothing new. Finally, I respect Pope Francis and what he is trying to do to save his church.

But the takeaway from over a decade of reading these stories each morning as I go through the world English language press is that the Catholic Church as an institution has a major and apparently irreconcilable dysfunction when it comes to human sexuality. This is a sick institution essentially standing at a cross roads. One road leads to inclusion, growth, and a change in rigid clerical celibacy.

The other leads to focusing on Africa and parts of Latin American, where old-fashioned patriarchal rigid sexual distinctions prevail for the moment. It would probably buy Catholicism another century, but even in Africa and Latin America the arc of history bends towards tolerance and inclusion, which spells ultimate decay of institutions like the Roman church. If that is the road chosen, which seems to be what is happening, I think we will see the Church wither into a vestigial organization in the developed world. It is already well along in much of Europe which, after centuries of religious wars, just isn’t interested much in religion of any kind. But it is also happening here in the U.S. Millennials are dropping away from religion in droves.

This essay lays out a number of the major issues facing the Roman Church." SAS

When the chief executive of Goldman Sachs, Lloyd Blankfein, told a newspaper the firm was "doing God's work," his appeal on behalf of higher powers was an attempt to rescue the tainted reputation not only of his own investment bank, but of the entire industry. Catholic legislators singled out by church over bill
giving abuse victims more time to sue

https://nationalpostcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/06/archdiocese_targeting_lawmakers.jpg?quality=65&strip=all&w=620
Philadelphia’s Archbishop Charles Joseph Chaput attends a news conference. Roman Catholic legislators say they have been publicly shamed during Mass, called out in church bulletins and disinvited to parish events as the Philadelphia Archdiocese campaigns against a bill that would give victims of child sexual abuse more time to sue the church.

I confess to you I could not be a Roman Catholic. Forget about the theology. It is the moral depravity that I can not stomach. Last week I began seeing stories that the Roman church had hired lobbyists to persuade the state legislature to vote against a bill that would allow child sexual abuse victims a longer period of time in which to file a law suit. I thought it was despicable. Using the dollars and quarters put by grandmothers and children into your collection plate to pay lawyers to defend you against your sexual abuse of children was just a bridge too far. And then I came across this.

Kristen De Groot - National Post (Canada)/Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA — Roman Catholic legislators say they have been publicly shamed during Mass, called out in church bulletins and disinvited to parish events as the Philadelphia Archdiocese campaigns against a bill that would give victims of child sexual abuse more time to sue the church.

Rep. Nick Miccarelli, a Delaware County Republican, said he was shocked to learn that the weekly bulletin at his church mentioned that he had voted for the bill.

“I’ve been to Iraq and back and there’s very little that makes my jaw drop, but seeing that in parish bulletin, my jaw hit the floor,” said Miccarelli, who served two tours in Iraq in the Army National Guard. “I was in disbelief” ... Read the rest

Short interview but packs a Wow.

Clif High - The Fall of Religions & The New Chronology

* 6 months to a year to a major crash in religions based on Fomenko's book now translated in English.
* Things coming out which popes were killed and doubles put in place.
* splits now showing in long receiving lines some priests/catholic personal refuse to shake pope's hand.
* General trend to crash of all religions. The linchpin may be Fomenko's research.
* Catholic harbors a great evil and needs to be gone, like the Banksters.
* History has been radically changed. Christ did not live in year 0 but in 1056.
* Pope Gregory reworked calendar and made a "new history".
* Old rulers pushed back, renamed.
* Now coming out since we have other documents, matched historical planetary transits compared to computerized astrological alignments shows that Christ on the cross and other events could not have happened when the church said it did.
* Now it's coming out of Russia, teachers wanted to teach the real history called the critical thinking movement.
* Looks through documents to see what is real and what was manufactured. Fomenko's works is a detailed analysis of new history.
* The level of the fraud is staggering.
* Church's history is a myth and a fabrication.
* Egypt's pyramid's made of concrete, he goes into detail.
* Interviewer is a Christian and is struggling to understand the implications.

Australia much like the U.S. has an ongoing sexual molestation of children crisis involving Catholic clergy. As a country they have addressed it more aggressively than we in the U.S. and it has come to this in one of Australia’s most prominent papers.

I agree with the argument in this report but I doubt there will be rapid change. Older priests demand celibacy of younger ones, just as older eunuchs in Turkey supported the continuing castration of boys. “If I had to suffer it so should you.”

This is so painfully true I can barely look at it, I think this is just cruel. I can feel myself starting to get mad about banning contraception now, so it's time to walk away!:thumbsup:

Catholic bishops ‘don’t get it’—the fundamental problem is a corrupt clerical culture

“Who is going to save our Church? Do not look to the priests. Do not look to the bishops.
It’s up to you, the laity, to remind our priests to be priests and our bishops to be bishops.”
- Archbishop Fulton Sheen

"Archbishop Sheen was right, as usual. Our pastors cannot lead us out of the current crisis in the Catholic Church, because they, as a group, do not recognize the nature of the crisis. In fact, despite the abundant evidence all around us, they are not prepared to admit that there is a crisis. They do not see the problem, because they are the problem.

The crisis is—let’s speak plainly—a crisis of clerical corruption. Our priests and especially our bishops have failed as Church leaders, because they adopted the wrong standards of leadership. They are using the wrong yardsticks to measure success and failure. And this clerical system tends to perpetuate itself: bishops train and promote priests who adopt the same skewed standards" ... The Vatican Has Paid Close To $4 Billion To Settle Child Molestation Lawsuits

Alexa EricksonAugust 12, 2016

The reality of child molestation by the Roman Catholic Church has surfaced time and time again, and yet, somehow, it continues to happen. If you watched the movie Spotlight, perhaps you have an idea of just how things are going down. But let’s break it down to date.

While you can’t put a price on the innocence of a child, you can put a price on just how much the Roman Catholic Church has paid out in lawsuits over the never-ending epidemic of child molestation wreaking havoc in its ranks.

According to Jack and Diane Ruhl of the National Catholic Reporter, who decided to research this particular topic, since 1950, the Vatican has spent a disgusting $3,994,797,060.10. That’s nearly $4 billion to keep things hush hush. That number may even be a bit conservative, as we cannot know for sure the agreed upon “under the table” amount.

The figure is based on a three-month investigation of data, which includes a review of over 7,800 articles from LexisNexis Academic and NCR databases and information from BishopAccountability.org. Reports from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops were also used.

If the amount of money dished out was divided evenly amongst the U.S.’s 197 dioceses, each one would get almost $20 billion. An incredible amount of cash from hard working people who support the good faith and intentions of the Church — people who are parents to little boys being sexually abused — is being used to cover up unfathomable crimes executed by priests.

In the early nineties, a monk who worked at the Vatican opened up to The New Yorker, admitting: “You wouldn’t believe the amounts of money the church is spending to settle these priestly sexual-abuse cases.” By 1992, U.S. Catholic dioceses had given 400 million dollars to settle hundreds of molestation cases. That was a shocking chunk of change then, and that figure has only risen exponentially since. The men running the Vatican are well aware of the problem, and yet they refuse to provide justice.

When Pope Francis addressed hundreds of bishops on the issue, he said:

I realize how much the pain of recent years has weighed upon you, and I have supported your generous commitment to bring healing to victims — in the knowledge that in healing we too are healed — and to work to ensure that such crimes will never be repeated.

His words of “generous commitment” only further show just how tightly knit the Church truly is — worried more about reputation than morality.

“The people he was talking to are the people who moved the pedophiles around to prey on kids,” said John Salveson, a 59-year-old Philadelphia businessman who was abused as a child by a priest. “If you gave me 100 years to pick a word to describe the U.S. bishops’ reaction to this crisis, ‘generous’ would never make the list.”

Terry McKiernan, who runs BishopAccountability.org, noted that Francis overlooked the fact that many dioceses around the country haven’t disclosed the names of abusers, and furthermore, continue to lobby against reforming statute of limitations laws that shield priests from prosecution for crimes from the past.

David Clohessy, executive director of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, was once optimistic that Francis would push for change in how the Church handled the scandal, but has since lost hope. “There’s nothing he could say that would be helpful, because Catholic bishops have said it all before — ‘I’m sorry, we didn’t know, we’ll do better.’ We’ve heard that for decades,” he said. “This is a pope who has refused to take steps to expose one predator or punish one enabler. . . . He could simply defrock, demote, discipline, or even clearly denounce just one complicit bishop. He refuses, not one.”

Spanning many hundreds of years, children have suffered at the hands of child predators who remain safe in the authority and integrity of an honorable faith, yet organizations, investigators, reporters, etc. continue to raise awareness, while the Catholic Church continues their fight to block bills that would extend the statute of limitations for reporting sex abuse.

Believe it or not there is a real subtle historic difference in how the real statement was really given and intended ... While having lived during his time and really admired and respected him for his bravery ...... So it would be more honest and clear to do that here as well ... Just saying.

MALCOLM X: CHICKENS COMING HOME TO ROOST

Malcolm X explains his comments regarding the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

"If you stick a knife in my back nine inches and pull it out six inches, that's not progress. If you pull it all the way out, that's not progress. The progress comes from healing the wound that the blow made. They haven't even begun to pull the knife out. They won't even admit the knife is there."
