Usually, we run at double those numbers at any one time, and the number of guests in any 24 hour period is round 17,000. (The record is over 25,000). The number of members is always outweighed by the guests.

yes , the starship Avalon has plenty of space and we can expand even more if we need to , there are no limits to this craft ... there could be someone out there holding the piece to the puzzle we need to go to the next level in our quest for evolution of the mind in balance with nature ...

Whom are you going to disobey at the end ? ;)
Good luck Bill . It would take like 2 hours to explain to me the joke of why all those people lurking outside should also come in ..
it's a joke, it isn't a joke, it's a trigger, it isn't a trigger, it's a tiger in the woods ..

Yes, it's usually roughly ten to one, and this time of day (or night in the western hemisphere) is usually at this level of 'quietness'. I usually do my posting when 'no one' is looking :)
Edit. Note to self: another time find some synonyms for usually :)

Avid I think this could be correct, I do that a lot.
If I'm at work or the kids/husband are lurking (they think its fun to post random comments everywhere on my behalf!) I tend to check Avalon updates without logging on.

Sometimes I log in and sometimes not, just depends on how much time I have , pretty nice wave of energy here though, I followed Camelot for quite a while then Avalon was born and I was glad to be here in it's inception. Lots of different slants on topics and always an interesting dialog. And whenever there is any news happening of significance anywhere in the world, typically someone from the Avalon family is in that area. I've learned much here and this center of this universe has given me leads and ideas to follow the rabbit in so many areas. Lots of good souls here and glad to be a part of it.

I agree. I use to automatically be logged in before the necessary password change recently. Now I have to log on each time and there are plenty of times if I am not posting or thanking I just don't log in.

of course some of those are members who haven't signed on, and of course many people - guests and members alike - leave the forum and return many times throughout the day, so the numbers are skewed a little. but those are still pretty large numbers! the mods will probably kill me for saying so, but I wish they'd *all* sign up!;) I really do. wow, the place would really be buzzing then!
the so-called newbies don't bother me one bit. even the ones that have a ways to go - in a way they are the most interesting. throw in a few obnoxious members too, I don't care. even they can be intriguing!;) oh, and they make things fun too at times. admit it! ha! so bring 'em all on. come on lurkers, grow some and jump in the pool already!:)

May 27 is the western "Pentecost Day", a day when people are remembered for being inspired by God. Otherwise known as the Fiftieth Day.

May 27th, 2012 was meant to be the End of The World, according to this Robert Weinland guy.
Maybe all the people who had read his book wanted to find out what Bill's opinion was in the matter.
http://www.the-end.com
The year 2008 marked the beginning of God's last warnings to mankind and that warning witness ended on Pentecost May 27, 2012. God's final countdown for man's self-rule has already begun and that rule will end soon on an annual holy day of Pentecost.
On December 14, 2008, the First Trumpet of the Seventh Seal of the Book of Revelation sounded, which announced the beginning collapse of the economy of the United States and great destruction that will follow.
Wow, his book was translated into 7 languages. I wonder how many copies sold?

I wonder if this is the correct thread to put this question? I have long wondered how many nations here are represented by our members. Also what are the numbers from each nation. I am guessing here but I feel there are more US members than any other nations. Members per total population of their respective countries would also be quite interesting. I know I am not the only one from Scotland but I would guess there are at least 20 of us here. Would Bill or any of the Mods know the figures?
Or anyone else ?

Re specific dates (like 27 May 2012) when a lot of guests suddenly roll up to visit the forum apparently out of nowhere, it's most likely to be when an article or a post from the forum is re-posted and linked on a high-volume site like beforeitsnews or abovetopsecret.
A lot of new people then click on the link to take a look. Many then find themselves impressed, and stay for a while. :)

I have been "lurking" since the earliest Camelot days.
Finding that site was the beginning of my awakening.
It continues to this day.
It's gratifying and humbling for me to be among you.
There are some VERY fine minds, and even more, fine Spirits here.
Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you.
Perhaps some day I will be able to contribute back to the community.
Now that I have formally posted, can I finally lose the "lurker" tag?: :)

I am one of the invisible ones Donk, I know very well I can be somewhat reactionary in my responses, usually this stems from a lack of patience, my lack of patience has nothing to do with a lack of respect for that matter, its just that I have noticed people can be somewhat hesitant when lots of folks are watching or maybe specific members, I try to stay out of the way by being invisible, its not the best thing to do I admit and it can have the same effect as being visible, perhaps I am just counting on people thinking I am shy ( which is also true), anyway, I am aware my emotions can get the better of me when reading or posting and its often not most eloquently expressed, this can scare people off unfortunately, its my job to control myself, I know, its a work in progress, so me being invisible is a sort of half self imposed half baked remedy, others will not be disturbed by my presence (hopefully) and perhaps feel more free to post or speak their mind when I am not around................ to be honest, I don't quite know anymore what is the right/wrong thing to do here, but in any case, sometimes the presence of a certain member can stop me from posting when I see they are on the thread ( not there to pick a fight or engage in long winding discussions so I try to avoid that from happening in the first place, not the best thing to do in all cases but hey, I am no saint, no knight in shining armor, not the bravest or boldest, I could have a million reasons for not to be seen.)
Not sure this explained why or how sufficiently but that's it for me right now.
Now, back to topic, soooooooooooooo, happy our first former lurker came out and started posting, may many more follow.

That's an impressive list Paul - 120 countries + Europe, there can't be many missing.
Here's something I posted on another thread worth reposting here. I just checked the corresponding figures for today: 39885th inthe world, 16140th in the US:
I’ve just done a ‘website popularity ranking’ search for ProjectAvalon.net on Alexa.com – which ranks websites worldwide by popularity, traffic, time spent on site, education of readers, etc etc.
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/projectavalon.net#trafficstats
Project Avalon currently ranks number 45,911 globally and – even more importantly – 17,346 in the U.S., the largest market. :target::target::target:
We’re also ranked 18,237 in the UK. That’s spectacular for a non-commercial, volunteer forum. Downright amazing.
Given that these figures are constantly evolving, it is interesting to see which way they are going and how fast. Some 18hrs after Selene's post, the rankings are 45658 total, 16716 (US), 18081 (UK)... and off the scale in France :)
That's a climb of 630 places in the US from one day to the next. This sounds like a good thing, but one keyword seems to be having an undue effect on this statistic:
http://www.alexa.com/search?p=rkey&r=site_siteinfo&s=projectavalon.net&q=jane-%E4%BA%9A
'jane' plus an exotic character seems a strange keyword to put in a search engine and two thirds of the traffic has been coming this way. I think our computer savvy members should look into this asap. It looks like a device for flooding the site.

The word Jane plus the exotic character:
My guess is that this is about Jane's Weekly, the aviation magazine.
Nick Cook wrote a book called "the Hunt for Point Zero" and is well-known in conspiracy circles,
and was editor at the time of Jane's, as the magazine is commonly referred to.

Many thanks Paul these numbers are interesting. This shows the switched on people from all over the world. Avalon sure is reaching around the globe. Thanks to Murray also. There are many more from USA than I imagined and not so many from Scotland as I thought. Many more from England than I thought. More than 10 x that of Scotland as in the population is. Maybe the Scots are more brainwashed than the English?
EDIT: I have just noticed that at a glanse There are more member per population of country from England than any other country. Am I correct?

Well, I’m also one of those “invisible online” logged-in members (yellow indicator above my name instead of green).
I do this simply because I usually start a new tab to look into Avalon each morning when I log onto my system. I usually find something I’m very keen to read and perhaps comment on, but my workflow requires me to ‘move on’ and open further tabs with more pressing issues and sometimes other items to read, watch or follow. I always hope to get back to Avalon later. But the indication that I’m “on” a particular thread isn’t really accurate – I may not get around to reading it for many hours, if at all that day.
So I hope I can be forgiven for “ghosting it” here…. ;)
Cheers,
Selene

I'd like to know what all the fuss was about on 27 May 2012.
2012 May 27 Ronald Weinland Ronald Weinland stated Jesus Christ would return and the world would end on this day. Maybe, Folks wanted to know what the real scoop is and came here.

http://www.dead.net/features/tapers-section/may-21-may-27-2012 - there was an intense time wave harmonic from the appearance of the Grateful Dead at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco 1967. Folks possibly trying to find anything on the Theatre Avalon Ballroom link with the Dead and ended up on the Net. ( "three nights at the Avalon in January" http://archive.org/details/gd67-01-27.aud.hanno.16744.sbeok.shnf ) Amazing stuff back then definitely time wave resonances with the keyword Avalon..
It is either the first one or the second IMHO..
Possibly someone more adept in the workings of time could explain it..
seriously that was quite an amount of visitors ! Well DONE !

So the Grateful Living owe their popularity to a Google misdirect :( Well, maybe some of them found something interesting.

Some 'guests' are members who haven't logged in? ;)
Avid I think this could be correct, I do that a lot.
If I'm at work or the kids/husband are lurking (they think its fun to post random comments everywhere on my behalf!) I tend to check Avalon updates without logging on.
Sérénité, thanks for the heads up :) you might want/need to flag these booby-trap posts - or are they sufficiently obvious?
Araucaria, you would notice! More than likely my profile picture would be changed to something phallic looking and there would be a torrent of unreadable toilet humour
...although probably much more interesting and factual than my real threads :)
