What a strange film to make and now. Look at the trailer to the film. The UFO's even have the same shape as the ones in the ST footage that was around the broken electrical tether experiment. Child soldiers with special abilities... Star Children? Alien Lizard motifs on uniform...all in there in the new Harrison Ford movie.

It is based on a book, written in 1985. I would be careful reading too much into the facts you mentioned as the movie follows the plot of the book pretty closely. So, these lizards you are talking about, are actually salamanders, as Ender was at one part of his training a member of Salamander Army. He later became the commander of Dragon Army.

It is true that entertainment industry are a wholly corrupt bunch. but I would refrain from making judgement on this movie, until after I see it.

There has been interest in making this book or series of books into a movie for a very long time.
If I can find the interview with the author Orson Scott Card concerning the long journey to making this movie I will post the link.
One reason was the ability to find numerous child actors to be able to play the parts. If you are familiar with the story line, it would be next to impossible to hire numerous children to play the smartest people on the planet. They are in a military setting and need to be able to speak and act like soldiers. Plus with the smarts of the brightest of the brightest.

If you are a sci fi fan you will love this series. I have been waiting years for this to be a movie.

I also read this series as it became available, and look forward to the movie.

My favorite author from my youth. Robert Heinlein, had several of his books made into movies, and I was disapointed by each and every movie.

I still hope for The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress and Stranger In a Strange Land to be made into movies, but am not holding my breath.
