Just to let you all know and sure you've noticed, but we've tidied up the forums. :)

Just so people know...
Yes, it is October but, it must be spring somewhere, right?
So, a bit of spring cleaning. :)

We are not getting rid of things, we are simply re-arranging the furniture.

The idea is to 'simplify' the front page of the forum a bit.

In the last 90 days, readership has tripled (Thank you everyone!) and all I can say is, we were moved to streamline the place, a bit.

Observations welcome... civil ones even more so.

Now I have moved it to where it can be seen in "Newer Posts"

Thats cool Fred.

Just out of Interest, what is the average daily readership on the forum?

Irish;
If you go to the main page:
http://projectavalon.net/forum4/forum.php

and scroll down you will see a section titled "Currently active Users".
Right now it says:
There are currently 291 users online. 60 members and 231 guests
Most users ever online was 624, 29th September 2010 at 10:45.

Now, Up until about mid-August, the site had a constant 120-ish people here, and that would drop as low as 80 or so during East-Coast US, middle of the night time. Suddenly it has tripled.

We now have an almost constant 300+ people browsing during the week, and slightly less on weekends (I guess some still pretend to lives beyond Avalon. ;) ).

Now those are all "at any given moment" figures. then...
Total guests that have visited the forum in the last 24 hours: 2,057
The most guests online over 24 hours was 3,793, 30th September 2010 at 07:24.

So we have quite a few people reading here, every day. :)

does anyone else get the following message when accessing certain specific threads: ...?

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /forum4/showthread.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Three times more traffic and no forum outages at all. Definitely the change to a new hosting provider was right.

Since Admin 'released' KWD as providers, we have had a perfectly smooth run...just goes to show how incompetent KWD were, and, all the fluffed up excuses they threw at us were a load of bollocks.

Thank you Richard and thank you Beth for your 'spring cleaning'

Fortytwo;
I have a couple times in the last week-ish.

What they appear to be are the best response the software could come up with to what amounts to a database error.

Now, I know that Richard re-indexed the forum's database a few days ago, and that since then I have not run across this error again. If you should still get them, please re-post here.

Thanks,
Fred
