Isn't it amazing how nature always has a way to present us with cures, and various medicines to help with our ailments.

Perhaps one day people having to worry about addictions to pain killers will be a thing of the past. Thanks to those creepy crawly bugs.

Gives us something to look forward to our tomorrows.:thumb:

Research into the venom found it was equal to or even more effective than morphine when it came to all kinds of pain.

Doctors subjected mice to pain resulting from chemical, thermal, and acid exposure and found it to be effective against every one.

Scientists think the venom works so well because it blocks a sodium-ion channel in people leading them to be "indifferent to all types of pain."

Doctors have long known about the channel but in the past any efforts to block it led to other channels being affected and causing trouble with the heart and other muscle function.

But wait, the news gets even better.

Studies done with the mice show that the venom has no side effects and it’s not believed humans could become addicted to it.

The later comes from work showing the compound doesn’t block receptors like morphine or other narcotics.

Smithsonian magazine says the research has been done with Chinese red-headed centipedes and the work will continue.

The victims of Centipede vemon smiling-numb from reaction before being consumed alive. One can draw wide similarity to other sedatives. Do wonder what might be the psychotropic effects- locked in fear comes to mind: 0.30 ,argh
