The U.S. government is expected to reopen tomorrow after legislation passes tonight based on a bipartisan deal reached today by Senate leaders.

Speaker of the House John Boehner said his chamber will not block the bill when it comes to the floor tonight.

Boehner said that the deal gives Congress time to sit down and work on the bigger fiscal issues. As for the vote, which is expected later today, Boehner said he would meet with his caucus, but he expects them to vote for the motion.

UPDATE: A report from the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/17/us/congress-budget-debate.html?hp&_r=1&) says, "Under the agreement, the government would be funded through Jan. 15, and the debt ceiling would be raised until Feb. 7. The Senate will take up a separate motion to instruct House and Senate negotiators to reach accord by Dec. 13 on a long-term blueprint for tax and spending policies over the next decade."

ya well they should be ashamed of themselves for taking it down to the last minute and playing with peoples lives like that, and all for there own agenda. And they have the audacity to say they are doing it for the American people. They all make me sick. How the hell people like this got into power I just don't understand. We have our lives in the hands of these people and they cant be trusted.

Unfortunately, this is the mindset of most Americans. Although I understand your frustration with the people of Congress, we still need to look at this government shutdown as a big picture. I myself was directly affected by the shutdown as I am a government employee at a wildlife refuge, but I still supported Congress for challenging the Obama Administration.

If Congress did not say anything and let Obama roll out Obamacare without any opposition, then this would have given him and his cronies the idea that they can run a dictatorship. By Congress at least challenging the Obamacare bill, I believe that they have woken up Americans in such a way where they cannot believe everything Obama says.

Yes, this shutdown sucked, but what Congress has done is become the rock that starts an avalanche. Most Americans are so unbelievably naive where they do not know what this shutdown was all about. Then again, I don't entirely know. But to shake your fists at an event because it affected your normal routines without thinking about why it happened to me is immature.

They are put into power because of the influence of beings who do not have our best interests in mind. Only we as individuals can trust ourselves.

Thanks! I often wonder if I'm the youngest member on this forum. I became awake and aware this past June and crammed decades worth of information and experiences in three months! :p

It's not just the governments fault, it is also the people's fault for giving it over to them to control. This will not change cause ppl look to the government for everything now and is not likely to change soon. America will very likely go thru the train wreck that's coming, as will most of the planet. Honestly, people dont seem to be waking up to the right thing and it's right in they're face.

Just sit back and watch the show and have the experience like everyone else will.
