I'm getting a bit desperate. Few days ago I had a sudden hearing loss in my right ear. Doctors are not certain what caused it. They suspect meniere too, but some key symptoms have been missing. I have had some minor problems with that ear for over a year, until now it took this extreme measures. I'm left with horrible tinnitus and extreme sensitivity in the damaged ear. Even toilet flushing sounds like jet engine roar. Speaking with someone feels like electric shocks in my brains. It's been six days now and there is still no recovery. I'm anxious. If you have any healing thoughts you could spare, I would be very grateful. Thanks for reading.

Sending positive vibes your way and blessings for solutions soon, as it sounds very exasperating and scary at the same time.

Do you have a cell phone and have you used your right ear with it? Sounds like microwave targeted emissions. Strange that medical professionals can not find root cause. Positive vibes going your way.

Peace!

Hi Demeisen,

Really sorry to hear you are having problems with your ears. Thought I should log in and stop lurking for this one...

Have had similar to what you describe for nearly 12 years now, intially I was diagnosed with Menieres too. It affects people in different ways, different noises, tones etc. so my case might not be the same. I am lucky, as after numerous hearing tests over the years I have come away being told my hearing is as good as 16 years old still. In fact, I would say I actually hear things better now but just differently. Having been to 5 different hospitals hear in the UK I stopped searching for a cure a few years ago. A couple of Migraine specialists from Belgium told me there is so much to the brain they still do not understand yet. They offered me a unlicensed drug from the US that was being trialed, when I looked into it the side effects and risk outweighed the risk of not taking anything. Now I just deal with it. Surgery can be very invasive so consider it very carefully if the doctor suggests it. Having spent £3k to have a micro-cafeter put in my cochlear for 10 days I really regret it now, it didn't help and I am still in debt.

It might not be Menieres that you have. Did your doctor suggest labyrinthitus? This is a lot more common than Menieres and affects people in a very similar way but it is only a short term problem.

If you would like a chat or advice please do not hesitate to get in touch. I know just how worrying it all is and it can easily overwhelm you if you are getting the vertigo attacks with it.

Further to joining the Menieres Society (here in the UK) I found it helpful speaking to other sufferers to see how they dealt with daily routines. It is one of those problems which people cannot see visibly and therefore it is hard for them to understand just how frustrating and disabling it can be during an episode.

If this goes past 7-15 days (if I recall correctly) then it probably wont be Labyrinthitus.

There are many prescription drugs that you might be bombarded with till they find out what it is exactly. In my case they just seemed to add more side effects than actually help.

These days I have adapted my lifestyle completely and am prescription free. The pain I deal with by smoking "the herb", I find it helps loosen the muscles which tense up and the pressure I get in the back of my head. It also helps me sleep when I get the warning signs.

There are so many things I could talk to you about but I don't want to shock or scare you just yet, as I understand how terrifying it is intially. Some people are able to deal with it well as they get attacks very rarely, others like myself get attacks frequently. I typically get about 3 attacks a week and have been off work for 10 years now with no hope of going back. ....hence I spend so much time researching and learning about all this stuff here on PA and other sites.

Please PM me if you like and we can share details. I would love to try and help you some more.

Best wishes, and a big healing rainbow from the UK.

Terra

PS If you get an attack just try to sleep it off. Make sure people around you know what to do (keep you warm and comfortable, with a drink and your essentials to hand). Once when I had my first "drop attack" I fell to the ground and just couldnt move, my wife called the ambulance but there is nothing they can do so it wasted their time. The tinnitus is the worst thing, I guess as I have it nearly constantly, mainly a very high pitched ringing. At night, if it is bothering you place a fan by the side of your bed, or put a radio on to mask it out. There are also special pillows you can get from specialists which have speakers in them for this reason.
At least for me, occasionally it will just disappear out of the blue and it is such a great feeling. ....but sadly, it always reappears after a few days.

Keep the faith, you can get through it and live with it, just differently is all :)

Hope to hear from you. In the meantime, fingers crossed it is a virus and nothing more. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the reply.
Actually it is that my damaged ear is not the one that I use with mobile.
