sushilsutram
By Sushil Soni
1. We are bound by the world we have created.
2. This bondage is the result of our desire to escape from our own selves. Because of this knowledge we are not free.
3. There is a way to recover our freedom.
4. This bondage comes from internal factors like ignorance, lack of understanding, unawareness and forgetfulness.
5. We listen to the great souls, appreciate their sacrifices and teachings, and then continue to live the way we have been. This is because we follow our habits and routines.
6. This bondage comes from our dependence on external factors like technology, education, information and upbringing.
7. The external factors are in the form of educational institutions, media, television, groups, lobbies, advertisements, knowledge filtration, statistics, internet, and so on.
8. We are constantly kept occupied with machines and information so that only technology survives.
9. We have now become obsessed with the instruments of technology and information; and thus forgotten who we are in reality.
10. All these devises have been created so that we remain in a constant state of forgetfulness. By remaining in this state, we ensure that systems work for profits.
11. By remaining in this state, machines have taken over our lives. Machines do not need us, and we cannot live without them.
12. Technology is the new God and we are its slaves.
13. In our effort to keep technology alive, we have become victims of its advancement.
14. By becoming victims and living in forgetfulness, we acquire several forms of internal and external diseases, like stress, high blood pressure, hearts diseases, diabetes, depression and so on.
15. After ensuring that we receive various kinds of diseases, technology provides
us with remedies in the form of hospitals and medicines.
16. We wrongly identify ourselves as belonging to a developed world.
17. A civilization is not known by how much it has technologically developed, but by how advanced it is in knowledge, awareness, moderation and clear-headedness.
18. Ignorance leads to suffering. Awareness leads to happiness.
19. Irregular relationships, rapes, victimizations, corruptions, murders, and other criminal and violent activities are not the hallmarks of an advanced society.
20. In an advanced society, people live in harmony with each other and their surroundings; and prisons are generally empty and lawyers unoccupied.
21. In an advanced society, members are in reverence of each other and women are not used as pleasure gadgets for individual and group enjoyment.
22. In an advanced society, people follow laws of the land and of nature, they are happy and prosperous. They are learned and knowledgeable and they are physically and mentally pure. They are free from slander, ridicule, back-biting, deceit and are constantly working for the welfare of each other.
23. The earth and the cosmos were created without any selfish motive.
24. It is from the earth and nature that we create objects for our possession.
25. We create a demand for something we do not need. To meet this demand, we exploit earth and nature.
26. Our desire to possess arises either from fear of loss or to display our spending power or because of mental illness.
27. In an advanced society, people live in harmony with nature, the sun, the moon and the rest of the creation. They are aware that the sun shines and the rain falls on earth without any selfish motive.
28. Knowledgeable ones know that that the earth, the sun, the moon, the wind, the rain, the trees and the atmosphere are important for our own survival and should become objects of worship. Ignorance, greed and deceit lead to exploitation and abuse.
29. What is above is also below. The same particles that are moving in the cosmos are also in our bodies and in the trees and the sun and the earth. If we nurture our bodies, we should also nurture the earth and the nature.
30. If what is above is also below, then there is no difference between you and me and the stone that is under my feet.
31. This means that we all are one – what is outside is also inside. Only our ego seeks the difference.
32. This ego forces us to blow our own trumpets.
33. We come to earth, tell others that we have reached our destination, and leave.
34. The fact remains that at the end of our lives we do not reach anywhere. We are still there where we were at the beginning.
35. O God, may You remove ignorance. May knowledge give us happiness.
36. Now, we must remove the factors that lead to our suffering and bondage.
37. Suffering and bondage can be removed by an internal process. Any external process is flawed and useless.
38. Since we are not in harmony with our surroundings, we have lost the rhythm of life.
39. We will be in harmony with our surroundings only when we realize that we are a part of the whole. Having realized that we are a part, we cannot harm another part of the same whole.
40. This realization comes from self-referral.
41. Through self-analysis you can remove the six maladies from your internal system, namely, desire, anger, greed, attachment, pride and jealousy. The presence of these maladies results in mental illnesses and various physical diseases. They also lead to all forms of corruption and violence in society.
42. By practicing self-analysis, you can know your aptitude and talent. You can also remove the curtain of ignorance.
43. Self-analysis can be practiced only in silence and aloneness. You cannot be in contact with yourself when you are occupied with someone or something. Another condition for practicing self-analysis is being honest with your self.
44. Your mind is always seeking to divert your attention from the task at hand; it will never allow you to settle at one thing or one thought.
45. Your mind is like a knife, very sharp and a dangerous weapon. Do not let it control you.
46. There are several methods for controlling the mind. The best among these is the meditation on I AM.
47. Once you have reined in your mind, it will become your slave. This is your first step towards freedom from bondage.
48. After you have controlled your mind, you will have clear thoughts and a better understanding of your surroundings.
49. Then you will live in harmony with nature.
50. You can now perform your duties towards mankind and nature.
51. Without internal purity evil cannot be eradicated.
52. O God, may our pure deeds and thoughts spread throughout the earth and the entire creation like the light of the sun that brings happiness and removes darkness.
53. Pure men are those who respect their elders, who earn money through honest and proper means, who live with their wives, who bring up their children as protectors of the earth and nature, and who consider the whole world as their family.
54. Pure women are those who like mountains stay at one place, devote themselves to the welfare of their families and continue in the tradition of their mothers.
55. Pure leaders are those who work for the welfare of the society and not for the benefit of their families, friends and colleagues through dishonest means or by keeping silence or by becoming traders of weapons.
56. The greatest sacrifice is to give up selfishness. The greatest achievement is to acquire selflessness.
57. Development of knowledge, inner strength and acquisition of wealth should be the aim of humans. These are acquired through internal means and not through technological advancement.
58. Technology removes us from our surroundings. Internal advancement brings us close to nature and creation. We must strive for the latter.
59. The greatest gift you can give the world is the gift of selfless and pure actions.
60. Without actions, nothing is possible, both inside and outside. Not even for a moment can anything, living or non-living, stay without action.
61. Actions lead to enhancement, inertia leads to deterioration.
62. The ultimate truth can be realized only through constant practice of self-analysis.
63. This is Self-Realization, this is Enlightenment that the great souls have spoken of.
64. This cannot be gained from training, nor from schooling nor by any other external methods but by internal process spoken of earlier.
65. Eating pure food, drinking pure water, thinking pure thoughts and keeping your body and mind pure are aids to reach this state.
66. Once you are totally pure internally, your surroundings will also become pure. Purity attracts purity.
67. When you and your surroundings become pure, then creation will once again regain its pristine glory.

I appreciate the expression of information, and that this is of significance to you Sushi. There is much I agree with, but far more I find to be inaccurate. Moreover, many of the terms in use seem to be inconsistent with their meaning.
Is this multiple choice?
Agree/Disagree by the look of things, but I'm 2-1 in favor of disagree. My opinion.
Still, thanks again for sharing and welcome to Avalon Sushi.

Hey Sushil Soni welcome to the forum, we here also are a work in progress so you are in good company.
It struck me that it might be an interesting exercise for one to list beliefs as one sees it now, and then in a few years do the same excercise see what changes.
Never underestimate the power of the unconscious in hiding what one is not willing or not able to see, and thus sometimes a mirror is required, I doubt it can be done alone.

1. I find it ironic as just this morning I was in deep thought about our distraction and dependence on technology and how its effecting us to the core of our being
2. You bring up great points concerning the 'system' that surrounds us and the importance to connect with the deeper processes within nature
3. We do not have to adhere to specific cultural (gender) roles in order to find our pure selves, this I did not agree with...
4. #65 is difficult when you live in a poisoned society, however there are still ways to connect within-
5. I LOVE to invision pure pristine glory! May we ALL experience this while living the sovereign creator life that is possible
6. I like your style of writing hehe :) welcome to the forum

That would be an interesting exercise. However, one needs to rise above beliefs and concepts. What life has taught me is that beliefs keep you in bondage but once you start to KNOW then those beliefs collapse. KNOWING means becoming aware of the unreality of beliefs which are basically in your mind. KNOWING brings acceptance - all of humanity is one, all of the creation is one, there is only ONENESS.

Thank you but nothing is accurate or inaccurate in creation. Everything is in the realm of truth. These aphorisms are not posted here for judgement. After all, who gave us the authority to judge? No harm intended here but I learn from everything.

when the city workers were tearing up yards on my block to lay new gas lines they told me that my yard was the hardest to dig up and had the most amount of clay soil on the block.
accordingly I have to treat my yard different in order to have green grass etc and all the things the city requires a slave to do to maintain property.
I think for YOU your list is wonderful - the problem with lists is one size does not fit all - and I have learned many many years ago - lists suck.
Lists set anyone up to fail - while the ego laughs and laughs at the pain it causes so we continue eating its agenda of being a natural born loser.
Each yard is different even on the same block.
however at least you have done some work even if you betray your list by naming it after you or you after it. another god like production!

Looking at our history we can easily see that if the people would not believe a thing, we would not invent anything, new ideas won't come, and at all how can you make any progress without believing in something? If you live in the Known so why you live? You already know everything, believing that there is something more is pointless, so where is the point to live?
Please, thank you :)

Hi Sushil, great talking points ... will address them from (only my POV, where I am at now)
sushilsutram
By Sushil Soni
1. We are bound by the world we have created.
[who says we have created this world?]
2. This bondage is the result of our desire to escape from our own selves. Because of this knowledge we are not free.
[nonsensical to me]
3. There is a way to recover our freedom.
[agreed]
4. This bondage comes from internal factors like ignorance, lack of understanding, unawareness and forgetfulness.
[not of our own choosing, I can assure you]
5. We listen to the great souls, appreciate their sacrifices and teachings, and then continue to live the way we have been. This is because we follow our habits and routines.
[again, not true ... I have changed the way I live many times, when I know better ... I actually do better]
6. This bondage comes from our dependence on external factors like technology, education, information and upbringing.
[agreed, we are prisoners of these things in a sense]
7. The external factors are in the form of educational institutions, media, television, groups, lobbies, advertisements, knowledge filtration, statistics, internet, and so on.
[agreed]
8. We are constantly kept occupied with machines and information so that only technology survives.
[not sure what "only technology survives" means]
9. We have now become obsessed with the instruments of technology and information; and thus forgotten who we are in reality.
[agreed]
10. All these devises have been created so that we remain in a constant state of forgetfulness. By remaining in this state, we ensure that systems work for profits.
[agreed]
11. By remaining in this state, machines have taken over our lives. Machines do not need us, and we cannot live without them.
[for some of us, especially on this forum, not altogether true]
12. Technology is the new God and we are its slaves.
[yes, it can seem that way]
13. In our effort to keep technology alive, we have become victims of its advancement.
[some technology can be positive ... other than that ... agreed]
14. By becoming victims and living in forgetfulness, we acquire several forms of internal and external diseases, like stress, high blood pressure, hearts diseases, diabetes, depression and so on.
[agreed, and unfortunate]
15. After ensuring that we receive various kinds of diseases, technology provides
us with remedies in the form of hospitals and medicines.
[there are some hospital workers that are truly of the light and are working for the highest good ... IOW, not all bad]
16. We wrongly identify ourselves as belonging to a developed world.
[I dont understand this statement]
17. A civilization is not known by how much it has technologically developed, but by how advanced it is in knowledge, awareness, moderation and clear-headedness.
[again, not sure if this is a redundant statement]
18. Ignorance leads to suffering. Awareness leads to happiness.
[knowledge is indeed power]
19. Irregular relationships, rapes, victimizations, corruptions, murders, and other criminal and violent activities are not the hallmarks of an advanced society.
[agreed]
20. In an advanced society, people live in harmony with each other and their surroundings; and prisons are generally empty and lawyers unoccupied.
[agreed ... although as it stands there is a need for lawyers (not all are bad: see Clayton Ruby and the Elephant Saga)]
21. In an advanced society, members are in reverence of each other and women are not used as pleasure gadgets for individual and group enjoyment.
[agreed]
22. In an advanced society, people follow laws of the land and of nature, they are happy and prosperous. They are learned and knowledgeable and they are physically and mentally pure. They are free from slander, ridicule, back-biting, deceit and are constantly working for the welfare of each other.
[agreed]
23. The earth and the cosmos were created without any selfish motive.
[debatable in my book ...]
24. It is from the earth and nature that we create objects for our possession.
[nonsensical for some of us]
25. We create a demand for something we do not need. To meet this demand, we exploit earth and nature.
[good point, but some of us have been unaware that we are participating in this]
26. Our desire to possess arises either from fear of loss or to display our spending power or because of mental illness.
[accusing everyone of mental illness is harsh]
27. In an advanced society, people live in harmony with nature, the sun, the moon and the rest of the creation. They are aware that the sun shines and the rain falls on earth without any selfish motive.
[lovely thought]
28. Knowledgeable ones know that that the earth, the sun, the moon, the wind, the rain, the trees and the atmosphere are important for our own survival and should become objects of worship. Ignorance, greed and deceit lead to exploitation and abuse.
[again, lovely]
29. What is above is also below. The same particles that are moving in the cosmos are also in our bodies and in the trees and the sun and the earth. If we nurture our bodies, we should also nurture the earth and the nature.
[agreed]
30. If what is above is also below, then there is no difference between you and me and the stone that is under my feet.
[not sure if I agree that I am the same as a stone ... but will consider this]
31. This means that we all are one – what is outside is also inside. Only our ego seeks the difference.
[We may be all one at source, but we are, in fact, having an experience of individuality which must relevant on some level]
32. This ego forces us to blow our own trumpets.
[narcissism ... blec ... ]
33. We come to earth, tell others that we have reached our destination, and leave.
[nonsensical]
34. The fact remains that at the end of our lives we do not reach anywhere. We are still there where we were at the beginning.
[really, do tell ... you know this for sure ... how?]
35. O God, may You remove ignorance. May knowledge give us happiness.
[Which god to you implore??]
36. Now, we must remove the factors that lead to our suffering and bondage.
[agreed]
37. Suffering and bondage can be removed by an internal process. Any external process is flawed and useless.
[agreed]
38. Since we are not in harmony with our surroundings, we have lost the rhythm of life.
[maybe ... will think on this]
39. We will be in harmony with our surroundings only when we realize that we are a part of the whole. Having realized that we are a part, we cannot harm another part of the same whole.
[again, sounds good and will give it a think]
40. This realization comes from self-referral.
[what is "self referral"?]
41. Through self-analysis you can remove the six maladies from your internal system, namely, desire, anger, greed, attachment, pride and jealousy. The presence of these maladies results in mental illnesses and various physical diseases. They also lead to all forms of corruption and violence in society.
[mental illness is subjective, although the six maladies you name are certainly something that is part of the virus imposed on what humans actually are]
42. By practicing self-analysis, you can know your aptitude and talent. You can also remove the curtain of ignorance.
[knowing our individual gifts is absolutely important ... agreed]
43. Self-analysis can be practiced only in silence and aloneness. You cannot be in contact with yourself when you are occupied with someone or something. Another condition for practicing self-analysis is being honest with your self.
[honesty is key ... agreed ... silence and aloneness is not necessary for everyone ... new age meme]
44. Your mind is always seeking to divert your attention from the task at hand; it will never allow you to settle at one thing or one thought.
[good point ... for myself, this is true]
45. Your mind is like a knife, very sharp and a dangerous weapon. Do not let it control you.
[we have a mind for a reason ... not sure what that is exactly ... lol]
46. There are several methods for controlling the mind. The best among these is the meditation on I AM.
[if we let the mind run free, it becomes like a glass of spilt water and will evaporate ... problem solved ... when we try to control it brings up other problems ... only IMHO)]
47. Once you have reined in your mind, it will become your slave. This is your first step towards freedom from bondage.
[nonsensical]
48. After you have controlled your mind, you will have clear thoughts and a better understanding of your surroundings.
[understanding comes through knowledge, not control]
49. Then you will live in harmony with nature.
[living in harmony with nature is absolutely something to aspire to!]
50. You can now perform your duties towards mankind and nature.
[what exactly are these duties?]
51. Without internal purity evil cannot be eradicated.
[we are actually born pure, any ideology that tells you real humans are otherwise is an archontic ideology]
52. O God, may our pure deeds and thoughts spread throughout the earth and the entire creation like the light of the sun that brings happiness and removes darkness.
[agreed]
53. Pure men are those who respect their elders, who earn money through honest and proper means, who live with their wives, who bring up their children as protectors of the earth and nature, and who consider the whole world as their family.
[maybe this should be rephrased as "people" instead of "men" and their "wives" ---- otherwise sounds good to me]
54. Pure women are those who like mountains stay at one place, devote themselves to the welfare of their families and continue in the tradition of their mothers.
[LOL]
55. Pure leaders are those who work for the welfare of the society and not for the benefit of their families, friends and colleagues through dishonest means or by keeping silence or by becoming traders of weapons.
[agreed]
56. The greatest sacrifice is to give up selfishness. The greatest achievement is to acquire selflessness.
[but keep in mind that there is a difference between selfishness and self love]
57. Development of knowledge, inner strength and acquisition of wealth should be the aim of humans. These are acquired through internal means and not through technological advancement.
[wealth is subjective]
58. Technology removes us from our surroundings. Internal advancement brings us close to nature and creation. We must strive for the latter.
[technology divides us from each other if we allow it to ... not sure about the rest of the statement]
59. The greatest gift you can give the world is the gift of selfless and pure actions.
[creativity is the greatest gift we give to the world]
60. Without actions, nothing is possible, both inside and outside. Not even for a moment can anything, living or non-living, stay without action.
[dynamic, and in the moment ... agreed]
61. Actions lead to enhancement, inertia leads to deterioration.
[inertia is a bitch lol]
62. The ultimate truth can be realized only through constant practice of self-analysis.
[or maybe self acceptance ...]
63. This is Self-Realization, this is Enlightenment that the great souls have spoken of.
[we are all great souls ... anyone who says different is playing into new age memes]
64. This cannot be gained from training, nor from schooling nor by any other external methods but by internal process spoken of earlier.
[training is a horrifying word ... agreed]
65. Eating pure food, drinking pure water, thinking pure thoughts and keeping your body and mind pure are aids to reach this state.
["a happy man can digest a rock" Gandhi]
66. Once you are totally pure internally, your surroundings will also become pure. Purity attracts purity.
[we are actually born pure, as humans ...]
67. When you and your surroundings become pure, then creation will once again regain its pristine glory.
[when we get rid of the virus, realize that the archons of the nag hamadi texts have kept us from our divinity, become anarchists, we will regain our birthright ...]
End of sushilsutram
That was really fun to address all of your points ... excellent and much love to you!!!

Beliefs are thoughts based on past knowledge and experience. Thoughts are of the mind and are material. We all have the ability to go beyond the mind to observe thoughts rising and falling: to observe them for what they are. We need a 'still mind' to go where the mind cannot go. In the awareness beyond mind we find truth. Truth is then freed to inform mind, and thoughts arise from a place of truth (true intelligence). Action becomes prompted by the observed, not by the mind of the observer. The more time we can spend in awareness, beyond mind, the more the observed and observer become one. Everything becomes subjective and there is no more 'I'. 'I' is replaced by 'all this'. Here is the energy and the clarity to work towards ending suffering in its totality.
This is incredibly easy to do. Unfortunately, it is incredibly difficult to understand, and therefore explain. My practice is to use my senses to observe. Instead of looking at objects in narrow attention, see everything. Allow sight to enter through the eyes to a place in the chest without any thought arising. Do not label or evaluate in any way. Just see everything for what it is. Do the same with hearing and all the other senses. There is no need to commit what is sensed to memory, simply keep observing without thought.

In the Indian tradition, sutras (aphorisms) are written like this only. I am only following an ancient tradition. It should be read in one go, not number by number. However, each line stands out alone. This is the trick of writing sutras.

You do not have to rise above beliefs. Question everything. Question whatever you have been told or taught. Do not doubt but question if that is the truth. A belief is a thought that is in your mind. It comes from imagining. Belief is not based on Reality or Truth but stays in the realm of Illusion. Know that belief is, after all, a belief. Once you realise this, you will give up everything. Give up now all that you have been told. Give up all the book you have read. Give up all that you have been taught in school and college. More importantly, give up all that this society tells you to keep you in constant bondage, if not slavery. Give up all the concepts, all that is written in the books. Clear your mind of everything. A stage will when all that you belief in will collapse. Then you will look at the creation with fresh eyes and you will KNOW. The problem with us is that we spend time on things that are irrelevant - but we think that they are important because we have created them. Look at life is this way: you come into this world with this body. You grow up, you get educated, you marry, you buy a house and collect all the gadgets you never need in the first place, grow old and die. So, what have you gained? What have you done? Why did you come here on this earth? What have you achieved? You have achieved everything that materialism asked for but you have not achieved a simple answer as to why you were born and why you are here and where are you going to go? Now then, once you start questioning like this, people will start calling you a philosopher. Notice that society tends to compartmentalise. You are a philosopher, you are a scientist, you are a doctor, etc, etc. Who calls you a human being? (We can discuss more...)

I have been observer for quite some time, when all I do is shut up, and observe, without judge, without expectations. But honestly, I didn't came closer the the ultimate truth, I haven't understood nothing, all that I gained from it was the awareness of what is happening around me, till the point that I realized Im lost.
The thing is, that to drop everything I know, will bring me to a pure state of observer, like a baby, no mechanical movement of the body, no thoughts, no will, nothing.. But if I begin to question all of it I will come to conclusion that everything I do, I do in purpose to gain some experience that my souls seek.
At some point my body will hint me to go to eat, so now I need to figure out the right way to walk and why to walk, because it coming natural already no matter how hard I will try to drop it, probably without a hypnotherapist I couldn't..
So then going to eat and finding that because I was observing in a cave for two months, there is nothing to eat here, and game over. Now I need to activate my thinking process to see what I know about food, etc.. at some point I will need to have some kind of idea, a belief about something for example a belief that if I talk to someone and ask him he could help me some way, but if Im only observing why would I talk to anyone any way?
And again, everything in your life is a belief, except the thing you already know, that no matter what you believe in won't really change, for example gravity.
Truth, isn't something you know, its subjective, and what you believe about it is what you think, and how you behave.
From what I experienced, Im here to experience physicality, Im here to be who I am at the moment, not to ascend to spirit, when I leave this body I be free to be soul, for now I have given this opportunity to experience, learn, think, feel etc. I mean if you go higher in the conscious level, so why to worry at all? You are GOD, you are the Universe you are at the moment, but as a gift of unconditional love you reflected your self down to each dimension to experience your self fully, I can understand my self XD It is quite boring to know everything and don't have the possibility to experience it.
Its really confusing, and it may sound like Im taking it way to critical, but it easier for me to understand, thank you :)
