From Investors Business Daily (IBD) (http://news.investors.com/politics-andrew-malcolm/102213-676088-ray-odierno-army-combat-brigades-way-below-minimum-after-cuts.htm):
=================
Gen. Ray Odierno told a Washington conference Monday that the U.S. Army had not conducted any training in the last six months of the fiscal year ending Sept. 30.
And, he said, there currently are only two Army brigades rated combat-ready. That's a total of between 7,000 to 10,000 troops and less than one-third what the combat veteran regards as necessary for proper national security.
"Right now," Odierno said, "we have in the Army two brigades that are trained. That's it. Two."
Odierno also revealed that troops shipping out to Afghanistan now are prepared only to train and assist Afghan troops, not to conduct combat operations themselves. But, of course, there's no guarantee the Americans won't find themselves in combat while accompanying Afghan soldiers.
All this to obey Obama administration orders to drastically cut the Army and military spending and meet cuts under sequestration. Since the Obama Pentagon began the troop draw-down two years ago under the president's orders, more than 33,000 active duty soldiers have been cut.
Current plans call for additional reductions of 42,000 soldiers in the next 23 months to a total of 490,000, down from 570,000. Those cuts have been accelerated by two years under Pentagon orders and will involve involuntary separations of thousands.
But under directions from Obama Defense Secy. Chuck Hagel last summer, military planners now anticipate administration orders to sever another 70,000 active-duty Army personnel at all levels, most of them unwillingly and after receiving expensive training. The 420,000-level is the absolute minimum Odierno says he can effectively operate, but he warns equipment updating and purchases have already been adversely affected.

IBD makes this out to be a shocking result of budget cuts ... but I take it as good news and as another indication that the American Empire is finally shrinking.

The only problem with it is that those discarded troops are replacing civilian police forces and turning a military mindset toward the American people.

What a surprise ... just in time for the foreign troop imposed martial law ...

there won't be foreign troops, too obvious. It will be American private war corporations and mercenaries, they have trillions right now from the US govenrment. By the Americans, for the Americans, keep the jobs home (ok, bad joke).

There are *many* foreign troops already inside usa borders ... some for many years.
(some in Canada too I might add).
For what purpose ... time will tell ..

I suspect you're both right :).
Overtly foreign troops won't be "attacking" domestic US soil -- too obvious.
But the US has (secretly but probably in my estimation) signed over portions of its land, especially the mineral rights, as security on debt owed to foreign nations, and those foreign nations will want to secure their property, once the US debt fails.
Meanwhile the overly militarized US domestic security forces (Dept of Homeland Security, FEMA, FBI, state and local police departments, etc) will be used to secure any US land occupied by US residents, if those residents get too uppity.
... all just my guess work.

Again we see our corrupt congress buying gear not wanted or needed from the military industrial complex for election coffer donations. The pentagon has openly said it did not need the overpriced weapon systems and congress has forced them to get them. So the pentagon's choice for trimming the budget is in training and manpower. A pattern of disarm the citizens and armed forces and arm the DHS. With drones and robots the need for human fodder is reduced because the controllers of this equipment are secure at very remote locations. The trend seems to be to reduce the sworn Constitutional protectors and replace them with unconstitutional private armies with no morals and de-humanizing practices. The State dept. and CIA have proved this out over the decades and the concept is now being rolled out at home. IMHO

...it is falling apart, period
just imho
there truly are too many people waking up on the inside and outside,
no more 'down from the top' ludicrous orders follow through, period.
too many people have had enough and are doing 'spiritual' things en masse and there is NO history or details to look up in any way to verify
I am verifying...categorize that (this is not directed at anyone on this thread or forum but at you know who)

Although this is not about the army (it's about Marines):

Marines angry about new 'girl hats'
NEW YORK -
As far as the U.S. government is concerned, U.S. Marines must have a unisex look. Many Marines are outraged by the new hats.
"The Marines deserve better. It makes them ridiculous. They are so girlish that even the French would blush'', as stated by The New York Post. '' We do not even have enough money to buy bullets and now Obama wants to spend eight million dollars on ladies hats,'' says a senior military.
It is envisaged that the headgear is worn by both men and women. Currently male and female Marines wear different caps.

It was discussed by some insider guests on Trunews (yes, again) that the Obama regime seems
to have diminishing the US defenses on its agenda.
It certainly looks like it ...

I don't think we have anything to worry about because the fired generals, all vets, militias are all on OUR SIDE. WE have the experience...imo.

The government knows that it is releasing poorly-habituated, vaccine-damaged, shell-shocked troops back into the general population on a fairly regular basis.
One problem is, as Frank Herbert demonstrated in his book "God Emperor of Dune", the "all-male army is essentially rapist and turns upon its own supporting population in the absence of an enemy". This is only too true, as we have seen play out in recent scandals from top to bottom of the military. The need to inflict pain.
If only there was a way to determine who really loves America (and other ally nations whose troops are returning home) and who just wants to play Jackboot Gestapo!
Fewer men willing to play Jackboot Gestapo means that fewer war crimes may be committed in the field. Better motivation is possible only in the presence of reason.
And for what reason have we deployed men to these troubled parts of the world? An excuse to test malaria medications on them? To steal oil?
It is only when we find a human problem to solve that we will demonstrate human behavior in the combat zone or at home...
Too many American interests are "animal" interests: food, sex, status, money, power -- not the sort of thing that Buddha pushed, right?
Yet those are the reasons many people join the military. Food, sex, status, money, and power.
So much for truth, justice, bravery, or a job well done... the trick about waging an "animal war" is that "animal needs" are never satisfied while embodied in the limitless human mind.
I despaired at the truth of how poorly-trained Active Duty personnel were in the Air Force. My Air Guard unit maintained a wartime mission completion rate of like, 98 percent.
Whereas comparable active duty units were unable to exceed 60 percent mission capability or completion within the same timeframe.
Yet the Administration (BRAC) wanted to take all of our planes and give them to active duty, who would have promptly broken and ruined all of them.
Seems like being good soldiers and good airmen and pilots might have gotten us somewhere -- and it did. We got to be guinea pigs for Lariam and Doxycycline.
We got to watch good friends and hard workers get sick and leave the unit after being exposed to EXPERIMENTAL anthrax vaccine batteries, medications in the field, Lariam pills.
I don't think we should expect a whole lot of good from a sudden end to the war -- you see the horrific trap the Administration has crafted for the general populace?
If we end the war, we get all those crazed bloodthirsty uneducated yahoos back... the way they're doing it, many people who might be killing in America are killing overseas.
I hope I am wrong, but it seems like a lot of damaged/ruined/troubled people are coming back. It is why so many US veterans commit suicide every day.
They come back changed. And no one at home seems to care or know how to help, in spite of the privilege of bearing the original mind that is robbed from the troops during their training and indoctrination.
So now you see why so many "military minded" people are struggling to adapt to "human concerns" and account for the lion's share of current whistleblowers and alternative media.
They've seen another side to the American reality that is virtually mind-warping and choose to spend the last moments of their lives fighting it.
Supporting "sane" but otherwise actively-criticizing voices of those formerly serving in the military is a very good thing to do, as it helps support those among the returning troops who are no longer able to defend or support themselves.
That is why some of us try so hard to bring light to issues that affect troop mental health, physical health, and attitude.
When I joined the Air Force, people were getting 1/4 or less of the training that was standard when our supervisors went through training and school.
Of course, we got blamed personally for not knowing enough -- isn't that great? Then we find out about Nuclear silo guards sleeping at work, Nuclear command officers being fired from top to bottom, etc.
I am kind of ashamed except I know it's not the troops' fault that there are problems at the top. :( My grandfather would never have let something like that happen on his watch (missile mxs SMS).

We have too many overseas bases. Sell them. This is the era of cyberwar, they are spending tons on defensive and offense cyberwar toys.
Thank God my nephew fell and broke his wrist a few months before boot camp so he suddenly wasn't wanted. Let him join a militia if he still harbors military fantasies.

Ron Paul wanted to close the overseas bases and bring the troops home.
So much for an honest politician with integrity and strength to stand up to the system.
I wonder what the vote would have been with fair media coverage ...
... actually I know the answer ...

First off, this plan itsn't new. It has been in the works since LBJ, at least.
The date of the beginning of the military industrial complex goes back to the era between WWI and WWII and its actual consolidation probably can be dated to the naturalization of the scientific branch of Nazi International under Project Paperclip and has been well under way since. The shifting of impetus from the standing military to the Black Ops programs has proceeded unto the point where we have no real idea of exactly how much money they receive or what they are doing with it. But, since that point, it is a safe assumption to make that that money is going toward the implementation of "forbidden technology" and it is directed toward fulfilling the agenda of this corporate behemoth that replaced nations as the primary mover of money and power over the last 70 odd years.
So LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Bush and Obama ALL have been complicit pawns and poodles in implementing this agenda and manifesting the conditions necessary to neutralizing the American polity in the determination of how our military might is utilized. Since it is not America, the country's agenda, it is America, the corporations agenda that is now being served by this demilitarization process, and, probably, for exactly the same reasons as have been mentioned by previous posters in this thread.
We already know that they have planned many nefarious agendas to deal with the American people once the dollar falls. If all aspects of the Black Ops programs are added to the mix, we have transhumanism, quantum-computing and AIs, extraterrestrial fleets, increasing world changes, genocidal viruses and biological augmentation that sets the stage for the next part of the process. All of these issues taken together lay out the parameters of an apocalyptic reality that one would be hard-pressed to deny.
And it all seems ready for full-scale implementation now.

I was thinking about a post like this but you already said it perfectly. I think that people still tend to choose to defend the populace.
So the standing army will be replaced by machines and automation. Machines obey unconditionally and will take action according to
pre-programmed scenarios. So, no need for communication afterward, they know what to do and will do it without remorse.
And don't get me wrong, I don't mean robotic soldiers per se. It can be machines denying you access and things like that.
