View Full Version : U.S. Government Spying on Its "Allies"

Is the U.S. government's spying on foreign leaders and citizens really a surprise to the Spanish, German, Mexican, Brazilian, and other "ally" governments?

If the U.S. government not only spies on its political leaders and citizens and then has the audacity to attempt to justify it under the guise of "National Security," why on Earth would any nation, friend or foe, think that it wouldn't spy on their leaders and citizens? Are these foreign leaders really that stupid or is this just more saber rattling to try and fool the masses into believing their alleged indignation?

Has anyone even asked the question why does the U.S. government feel the need to spy on virtually everybody everywhere? Could the incessant lies, wars it starts, foreign government manipulation and toppling, exploitation of cheap resources (labor, energy, commodities), constant deterioration of the middle class and our standard of living, the stealing of our rights and freedoms and thumbing their nose at the Constitution have anything to do with it? Could it just possibly be the U.S. Government can trust no one because it has proven, time and again, it cannot be trusted. It has lied to and screwed (one way or another) just about everyone.

I’m just posing some questions. What are your thoughts?

I find it interesting that Angela Merkel's statement in response to finding out she had been spied on by the USA.She said "you should not spy on your friends".As it seems OK to spy on us so does that make us her enemy's?

Ceetee, I think the spying was motivated by financial gain.
The people who put the NSA in power invest in lots of different things.

I believe that by spying on European money transfers, the US gained time-sensitive information that can be used to manipulate stock markets,
or worse, crash economies!

:(

Of course, the NSA denies this at present even though German security analysts told their opinions to the radio stations already -- that the USA has been using the post 9/11 data for reasons other than tracking terrorists.

The "Syrian Electronic Army" group that hacked Obama today claims that much of the turmoil that the "NSA" is supposed to prevent is actually caused by US interests in countries we don't belong in.

i.e. the pipeline explosion in Damascus -- was it really "rebels" (people who live there and use the gas) or someone else who owns gas, and wants the price to rise?

BP for example, owns 20 percent of the Russian national oil/gas company !!

Who really knows where the booms are coming from these days? :(

I believe it too Tesla_WTC_Solution.
Here in Brazil the US spied the Petrobrás, our national oil company.
Makes one wonder: what the Petrobrás has to do with the US national security?...
