Hi all,
When you use a vpn is that what is called an open proxy? I tried to go into a chatroom and kept getting disconnected and it mentioned open proxy...is there a way to have a proxy and still use a vpn for security? thanks

The error message was likely due to the chat system not liking you using an open proxy.
An open proxy is a proxy server that is accessible by any Internet user. Generally, a proxy server only allows users within a network group to store and forward Internet services such as DNS or web pages to reduce and control the bandwidth used by the group. ...
Open proxies often use VPN's to help with their goal to provide anonymity, but the VPN is just between you and the proxy.
Security and anonymity are related, but not the same thing.
If you want a close approach at both higher security and anonymity, you are better going to a proxy that is not "open" (ie: one you typically need to pay money for the service).
