There were so many different threads I could have placed this in, because there are so many uses, so I just decided it deserved its own.

Long story short, I have been feeling under the weather for quite some time, for various reasons, mainly lyme disease, but secondarily, digestive problems. I really have not had the time lately to do my cleansing protocols, but yesterday, I was feeling extra bad, because I ate some halloween candy. I know, MY BAD.:p

I love the taste of fresh ginger, and I hadn't gotten my juicer going since I moved, so I decided to mix up a concoction.

I used a huge chunk of ginger root, about 3 inches long, one apple, one lemon, 10 carrots.
Juiced them, put them in a shaker glass, threw in about half teaspoon of baking soda, and about a tablespoon of vitamin c powder(ascorbic acid form), for some fizz and extra energy boost.

I shook it up for a few seconds, threw in some ice.

It was so delicious,(spicy yes,) but excellent.
But thats not the best part.

I slept better last night than I have literally in months. And I woke up with no pain, no brain fog, and wide awake. :):)

I had forgotten about the drink I made, but remembered a little bit later and did some poking around online regarding the ginger root. I already knew it was good for digestion, but I had no idea it had so many other benefits. So I just wanted to share this information.

Just a sampling of the ginger root benefits are:

Breast, ovarian, prostate and colon cancers all are affected, as is heart disease, clotting disorders and also ginger has excellent alkalizing powers and of course digestion help/nausea.

I am providing some links so you can read about this wonderful gift from Gaia.

My favourite juice is ginger, apple, cucumber, celery and carrot. It woke up my immune system to deal with a skin condition.

All of those benefits would have gone totally to waste by your addition of ...... ice. Ginger is a warming herb.

Ice is also very bad for any digestive complaints.

Re Mariposafes comment, not all to waste I would say, the warming energetic function stays to some extent whether the ingredient be served warm or cold - think of jalapeno from the fridge, it will burn nonetheless. However, and this is one big however, I am 100% with Mariposafe about the ice and cold - it can really wreak havoc in intestines according to chinese medicine among others. Why?
I looked into this not so long ago and found a report of a team of doctors that were doing x-rays of stomach with a dye. The dye(I don't know if that is the proper word) was really bad tasting and it was drank cold to ease ingestion. Doctors were puzzled because the dye stayed in the stomach for only about 15 minutes. Only after they made the subjects drank the dye at room temperature, it would remain in stomach for up to an hour or more.

What this means is that it strongly looks like our stomachs are either protecting the blood in the lining of itself or perhaps due to proximity of the heart, letting cold substances through to small intestine with very little to none of processing.

Be it liquid, you will loose thermal energy, ie Qi or be it solid food, which will also rob you of thermal energy + end up in small intestine without being processed(rottening and ripening in chinese medicine), you end up with a situation which is very harmful for small intestine and it will not be able to extract nutrients the way it should. This will damage the small intestine and weaken your Qi.
Long story short, ginger great, cold not so!
