Hey Sidney!!!
Run quick, down to your local pet supply store. Get two of those dog anchors, that look like a big screw with an eyelet at one end. Screw one into the ground on either side of yer house, and then fasten yer rope that you bought also, to one side, then throw the rope over yer house and fasten it tightly to the other one, and you should be just fine!!! ccc.
NO?
gees!! Guess I'll just have ta pray fer ya then!!! chuckle chuckle.
Here catch!! I'll throw some unconditionally loving good wishes for ya, over yer way also!!! ccc.

LOL, I literally have a large strap tied to the toilet, in case we needed to anchor ourselves. Geez, haven't hugged a toilet since the 70's lmao :) Looks like we don't have to today though. Crazy midwestern weather!!! Keeps us on our toes.
edit: Humor aside, I do strongly feel there was a higher protection today. The news, said it was heading directly for my street. I looked out and saw it coming in the distance, quickly posted this thread, and started praying, and literally five minuted later I went outside, and there was dark storm on both sides of my neighborhood, yet the sun came out and shone brightly right where we are. Very strange, but wonderful.

We had two tornadoes touch down within a few miles of where I live. Went outside when it was all going on, I know - I'm crazy, but I had to witness the raw power of Mother Nature or geo-engineering. All was pretty calm outside, but clouds were really dark and there was rumbling in the clouds, but it wasn't thunder.

The clouds did have a dark blue hue. Everyone in my city is OK, just a few downed power lines, nothing major. I've been wanting to witness a tornado with my eyes for quite some time - maybe, just maybe I'll get to see one before I die.

Here's an "official" report:
Six killed as tornadoes rip through U.S. Midwest
By Mary Wisniewski
WASHINGTON, Illinois Mon Nov 18, 2013 5:36am EST
(Reuters) - A fast-moving storm system triggered multiple tornadoes on Sunday that killed at least six people and flattened large parts of a town in Illinois as it tore across the Midwest, authorities said.
The tornadoes leveled scores of homes and demolished entire neighborhoods. Some 80 tornado reports were received, along with 358 reports of damaging winds and 40 reports of large hail, according to Rich Thompson, a lead forecaster with the weather service's Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
Traffic was halted briefly at Chicago's two major airports, and tens of thousands of people in several states lost power.
By early Monday three people were reported killed in Massac County, two in Washington County and one in the city of Washington, in Tazewell County, said Patti Thompson of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.
The National Weather Service confirmed preliminary EF-4 tornado damage in Washington County in southern Illinois, with winds of 166 to 200 miles per hour.
The unusual late-season storms moved dangerously fast, tracking east at 60 miles per hour, with the bulk of the damage spanning about five hours, Thompson said. Wind damage threats continued across Pennsylvania and New York.
DEVASTATION
The town of Washington, 145 miles southwest of Chicago, was hit hard as tornadoes tore through Indiana and Kentucky, Illinois and a small corner of Ohio.
"The devastation is just unbelievable," said Mayor Gary Manier. Hundreds of homes were destroyed, one person was killed and 31 were being treated for injuries in nearby Peoria.
"I can't imagine people walked away from these places," Manier said of the devastation in the town of 15,000.
Two people, an 80-year-old man and his 78-year-old sister, were killed in Washington County, Illinois, about 200 miles south of Peoria, County coroner Mark Styninger said.
Three others were killed in Massac County, Illinois, on the Kentucky border where a tornado devastated several neighborhoods, emergency officials said.
Sara Sparkman, a spokeswoman for the Tazewell County, Illinois health department, told Reuters: "We have reports of homes being flattened, roofs being torn off ... We have actual whole neighborhoods being demolished by the storm."
More people were feared trapped in their basements under debris, said Illinois State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond.
The American Red Cross worked with emergency management officials to set up shelters and provide assistance.
The Washington tornado came out of a fast-moving system that originally headed toward Chicago, forcing a delay of a Chicago Bears-Baltimore Ravens NFL game as it threatened a large swath of the Midwest.

Yes, Massac county is only half hour drive from me. That was a scary close call. I am saddened by the loss of life. This is late in the season too for this type of weather.
I took a snippet of the weather map last night, this does not look natural IMHO

I am delighted that Avalon is safe.
But while I'm here can storm America give the rest of the world some survival tips as I firmly believe these storms/ hurricanes will become a fact of life for the world, I had this warning over a year ago now and have made some preparations.
Can you tell me should we open or shut our windows if a serious storm is imminent ,or is this an old wives tale, please share any other potentially life saving tips you have. I as many will act upon your advice. We just don't get storms like you do so far, but I know they are probably due. We cannot mess with the butterflies wings and expect to escape the consequences.
