Remember that American ideal of being able to travel freely within the country without being detained or questioned by government officials? Well, the inland creep of CBP (a.k.a. border patrol) checkpoints has made traveling within certain US states without being asked about your citizenship a thing of the past. The installation of TSA agents in every airport means producing identification repeatedly and possibly enduring an awkward conversation with a Behavioral Detection Officer as he or she performs a mental coin flip.
Now, thanks to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, citizens can't even travel across a single city without being routed off the road and asked (nicely) to cough up a little DNA.
The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) installed the roadblock north of the city during daytime traffic. They flagged down some motorists at random and asked them to give breath, saliva, and blood samples. The FWPD claims the effort was "100 percent voluntary" and anonymous.
It acknowledges that most of the drivers had broken no law, but it said the effort was valuable to federal contractors working to complete a 3 year, $7.9M USD survey on behalf of the The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) aimed at collecting medical data for use in combating drunk driving.<0

they want to know how the people will react, obey or not, and most probably whom, which profile, will refuse
it is quite easy to profile a population once you have some basic data points.

Without using errr.. fancy new anti terror bulcrap, in the UK, all they can expect an answer to is :
What is your name ?
What is your address ?
What is your date of birth ? ( not even sure that one is compulsory )
I once politely replied to a police officer ( at about 3 am - while riding a scooter ), "Look, I don't want to get funny with you but you don't have to ask me that, and I don't have to answer it". While I was still saying "funny", another cop threw their car door open and leaped up to us all ready for a tackle and arrest.
The conversation continued from the first officer with " I know that but you could be more helpful when I ask you a question ".
I said, " you could be more like a police officer if you knew when you were cracking crime ".
Two very shifty cops shuffled back into their car and drove off to where they expected me to go next. I fired up the scooter and bypassed that spot and got home to bed by another route.
I have a very strong feeling that if I did that nowadays, I'd find myself eating crap for breakfast in a police station the next morning. ( that was about 1988 ).
Still, don't let them ask or do an once more than the law allows them to do. It's not even about if you are guilty of a crime or not. It's about pinning the practice of law enforcement right back to the bone so that all can see clearly the skeletal form of the law, and feel the rightness or wrongness of it and act accordingly. Being nicey nicey and vague with the cops is a mistake in the long run, it gets stuffy and bossy, AND, you'll probably end up grassing on your mates my mistake.

they are setting up for the police state , now everyday citizens are treated like terrorist ... getting the public used to seeing them stopping people for no reason ... I hope everyone raises a HUGE stink over this ... how can they be fighting crime when they busy asking silly questions to average folks on their way to the market or to work ??? This is not good ...next thing you know it will be the military at these random checkpoints ... eyes open people , step by step they put their boot on the neck of freedom , and for what ??? does it stop a single crime ??? Notice they are LAW enforcement not crime fighters ... you can't fly and now you can't drive to the market without some arm of the dern government in your personal business ... it makes me sick , I"m sick of it ...

Alex Jones just crashed his ustream channel after hitting a million live viewers watching the stream from the free speech bit of the Dealy Plaza event.
That's probably enough to make sense of the gooning up game.

i live in dallas, the local news... One lady said they detained her and didn't give her "much of a choice". They stopped all traffic on a major highway, directed the traffic into a mall parking lot and took samples. The people were so pissed that they complained and raised major hell that the ft worth police public apologized and said they would never do it again... Then it sounds like they did it again in a suburb!

It's called a 'real world test'.
Same as the towers and observers at wal-mart stores, that was done in a few places.
My high school, was an experimental school, where each year there would be completely different methods of schooling. We were a giant experiment in methodology. A live test. We were never told this, they just did it.

This has got to be illegal even for Texas. That being said I was stopped last January just as I arrived in this small time. I knew I had done nothing. So when the cop stopped me I asked what I had done. I said they had to have probable cause to stop me. The guy immediately went off and gave me a lecture about how I was to deal with cops in Texas which is essentially shut your mouth and obey. I think the only thing that saved me was the fact I was obviously an old woman which can often be more trouble than worth an arrest unless they are just okay with killing me. and today you never know. LOL But because I am from a different time of what was normal legal behavior and white, I get my say as long as I am nice about it.

Their actions are all about conditioning and seeing how far they can go before the sheeple, err, umm, I mean, the people wake up and start pushing back.
I'm continually amazed at the "sheeple" mentality in this country. What has happened to us? We used to care about rights, freedom and justice in this country, but now it seems all the masses care about is more faux "government protections" and the latest technology widget that pacifies them and serves to only dumb them down even further.
Has the mind control programming become so effective that we can't see anything other than what our captors want us to see? Are we all (or, at least, most of us) totally oblivious and/or unconcerned as to what is actually happening all around us that it warrants no reflection, no questioning, and no action? It really doesn't take much intellectual capacity to see what's going on in this world so why are we becoming more and more like mindless sheep? Inquiring minds what to know. (And I apologize to the sheep since you are, allegedly, not as intelligent as humans.) ;)

Sitting in my home, I ask what'd I do if I were corralled into a parking lot with a bunch of others? I'm embarrassed to say, I'd comply.
But here's my take:
I'm never where I'm not needed, so if I'm a part of it, then there's a reason.
It's better if I'm sent on my way and continue with what I do from my home, rather than a jail cell.
I still have one more responsibility. Wolfie, my aging dog. One night in jail is far too long away for his little bladder.
But based on past life experiences, I would not be surprised if the Warrior archetype steps forth like it's done most, no… all of my life. How it unfolds? I'll experience THAT the same time everyone else does.

I agree with all of you.. It does seem to be a litmus test of sorts.. The fact is, most people will obey and swab their mouths, most people are good law abiding citizens, the fact that they know this, is to our disadvantage.. I foresee a time when we few souls are needed to help remind the rest of the herd, that we were once free...
Please, for all our sakes, survive till then...x.... N

The only thing you should say is 'Am I being detained?', and 'Am I free to go?' nothing more should come out of your mouth.
Assertion of Rights:
Officer, please understand:
I refuse to talk to you until I consult with my attorney. I also refuse to consent to any search of these premises or any other premises under my control, or in which I have a possessory, proprietary, or privacy interest, including my car, my body, or effects. I hereby demand to immediately be allowed the reasonable opportunity to obtain the advice of my attorney by telephone.
I desire to exercise all my rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this State, to be free from your interference with my person or affairs.
If you attempt to question me, I want my lawyer present. I refuse to participate in any line-up or to perform any physical acts, or to speak or display my person or property at your direction, without first conferring with my lawyer.
If I am under arrest, I wish to invoke and exercise my Miranda rights. If you ignore my exercise of these rights and attempt to procure a waiver, I want to confer with my lawyer prior to any conversations with you.
If I am to be taken into custody, removed from my present location, or separated from my property, I request a reasonable opportunity to make arrangements to secure my own property. I do not consent to any impoundment or inventory of my property. I do, hereby, waive any claim of liability for loss, theft, or damage against you, your superiors or any other authority, and agree to hold all harmless therefrom, if I am afforded the reasonable opportunity to arrange for the safekeeping of my own property. If this reasonable opportunity is denied or is unavailable, I demand that only such intrusion occur as is minimally necessary to secure such property, hereby waiving any claim of liability for your failure to scrutinize the property or its contents prior to it being secured.
If I am not under arrest, I want to leave. If I am free to leave, please tell me immediately so that I may go about my business.

Anchor, do you remember this time last year when they closed down the Great Western Goat-track for a week, and pulled over every single vehicle for the entire week ?
They couldn't do it on the highway proper, so they made a "roadworks", complete with placed back-hoe to make it legal.
People at work couldn't grasp what/why they were doing it...my response "to get you used to it"...

'Am I being detained?', 'Am I free to go?'
Good in theory, but there are many variables at play. One-size-fits-all doesn’t cut it. Knowledge on constitutional rights is important and so are current events. The power mungers fall-back reason is: “we must sacrifice our liberty for safety” trumps “violation of constitutional rights”.
They use any means necessary to justify searches. In the first video, the cop used trickery with their K-9. The second video was even though pot was found, they still performed a road side cavity search on two women, who repeatedly said, “No.”
“Police won't let me know if I'm being detained (I broke no laws), they use their K-9 to false alert on my car giving themselves permission to search my stuff, and lie about me having illegal drugs in my car. They eventually let me go with no charges.”
In this first vid, I am encourage that 3 days after this posting back in July 7, 2013 the count was 2,241,456, today November 24, 2013, it’s now up to 4,246,186.

No. Tell me more.
I don't see how the police can pull you over for being stuck in traffic and I think if they did it to me there would be consequences.
The only time I have been pulled over by cops is RBT - which is always a hoot as I do not drink any alcohol - or if I got spotted driving in a way that conforms to my road rules rather than theirs ;)

Paula, dont ever let a few terrible stories and a few terrible cops inhibit you from knowing and enforcing your rights. I could post numerous videos to contrast your own:

Hi Toad,
A brief post here because I half expected someone making these very comments. The very same comments that I made to myself.
I asked, "Why not skip the post altogether, and save oodles of time, Paula?"
One last point, I have not 'only watched a few'. And did you catch the positive approaches I added? Post #5 (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?65714-Texas-Police-Set-Up-Checkpoints-To-Collect-Blood-And-Saliva-From-Volunteers&p=761683&viewfull=1#post761683)

Paula,
It is a game.
It is a game that can be played differently - just as truth is a pathless land, there is no one correct method, there is no magic spell of form of words, but words are what they can use to complicate things for you, so the key is as much silence as is possible to muster.
The only judge after the fact on how you did is going to be yourself, so you are the best person to work out what to do and when to do it when its your ass on the line ;)
When I post the three questions ( or as pointed out, only two of which are really important ) - timing and context is everything but the thing is, you are allowed to ask questions and there should be no reason to fear that and they can be the most important questions ever.
"Am I being detained?"
"Am I free to go?"
If the answers to any of these are not NO and YES respectively, then that is when you need lawyer help and most places will permit this help to be made available.
John..

Rechecked, it was mid december last year.
They normally put the RBT/drug check at the end of the 70 zone out of town, this one was along the highway at Marangarroo.
Can't stage an RBT in a 100 zone, so they "created" a fake roadworks zone. Backhoe and all.
80, 60, 40, one lane (RHS) roadworks, then use the left hand lane to pull every vehicle over for a week. Roadworthy, RBT, drug swabs, dogs crawling through cars, cars pulled apart at the side of the road....straight out of Mad Max when heading East at night
