Dear all,
I'm Jena of Lifechanyuan. I'm living in a spiritual community which is called the Second Home of Lifechanyuan (http://www.the2ndhome.org/2ndhome/Welcome.html) in Yunnan, China. Currently our community has three branches scattering in Anning, Chuxiong and Lincang of Yunnan Province, and whole area is around 145 acres. And total permanent residents are 150 including 14 children across branches.

These days our community has gotten the support from GEN(Global Ecovillage Network) and they help us to start a petition to protect and save our community now under pressure from local provicial government to close down.

"Chinese President Xi Jinping: Save China’s Largest Ecovillage!
Why this is important:
It is of global significance that China, the world's most populated country, has a vibrant and expanding ecovillage movement. That Chinese citizens are voluntarily seeking more sustainable ways of living is of importance for all mankind. Therefore it is urgent help and moral support to help save "the Second Home of Lifechanyuan”, the largest ecovillage in China which is now under threat. Local provincial government is trying to disband this successful and harmonious community within the next 3-4 months.
The Second Home is a very rare example in China of an ecovillage community that practises a fully communal way of living which is key to reducing our ecological footprint. The ecovillage was established in May 2009. This ecovillage has three branches located in Yunnan Province and 150 permanent members. There have been guests from 15 countries visiting this ecovillage, which has proven to be open and well-organised.
The third branch located at Chuxiong was verbally notified that the local government had decided an alternative use of the land. Vandals have cut off the road and power lines to the ecovillage and torn down the main gate. Local government officials even contacted the families of community members and told them that the founder of the community Xuefeng is a big cheater, and threatened the families who work for the government that they would lose their jobs if they do not take their relatives back home immediately. The local government representatives tried all means to persuade the community members to go home by threats and intimidation. No police action has been received and no formal eviction notice received. The two other branches are now under the same threat.
The example of sustainable communal living without focus on material wealth is considered a threat by some rather than the hope it in fact is. The existence and growth of the Chinese ecovillage movement gives all of us hope that all humans can live in harmony on the Earth. This ecovillage is totally in line with the highest pursuit of Chinese Communist Party. Therefore we ask Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese central government and United Nations Human Rights Council to intervene and save the ecovillage. Please sign and show your support for the rights of the Second Home and the Chinese ecovillage movement."

China, Are You A Barbaric Country or A Civilized Country? Please Save the Largest Ecovillage in China - the Second Home of Lifechanyuan!

The largest ecovillage in China - the Second Home of Lifechanyuan was suffering injustice and forced disbandment!
The Second Home is the only ecovillage that practises communal way of living in China. It was established in May, 2009. This ecovillage has three branches located in Yunnan Province. It has 150 permanent members, and the age of the oldest member is 84, and the youngest 5. There have been people from 15 countries visit this ecovillage and it is proven to be a highly civilized ecovillage.
On Apr 25, 2013, the road leading to the 3rd branch of the Second Home was dug up and damaged, and power and telephone cables were cut, and then the gate wall was pulled down. Forty brothers and sisters kept on living under such conditions for more than six months. Finding that we were not going to compromise, on Nov 05, about 40 people including many government representatives and some so called villagers came to besiege all brothers and sisters until we were forced to leave the place. During that period, no video taking and voice recording were allowed, and all data in the storage card of our cameras were deleted by force. And the gate was disassembled and taken away.
On the last day when some brothers and sisters left the place, they were stopped by some people, who asked us to sign a termination agreement that had been drafted by them, which states “The Second Home is willing to cancel the lease contract without getting any compensation.” Because we expressed that we
will fight-to-death, they let us go. Now the 3rd branch has been robbed.
Within these six months, they also instigated the landlords of the 1st branch to cancel our lease contracts. A few days ago, the last landlord came and asked for the termination of the contract. She mentioned she was under high pressure.
Today, they start taking actions to the fourth branch. Seven people came and informed us that the lease contract was invalid. And the landlord said that this was out of his control.
Are we wrong?
No. What we say and do are within the scope of Chinese constitution and laws, we never violate Chinese laws or commit crimes. We never do harm to nature and other people. We never oppose to Chinese government. We are neither a religious nor a political organization. Instead we are a group people willing to
live a communal lifestyle.
Strictly speaking, we are an ecovillage which pursue the harmonious coexistence among people, society, and nature. We pursue a noble, civilized, and dignified life.
But now this pursuit has encountered enormous obstacles. Some people intend to disband all three branches in Yunnan province and force all community members back home within the next three to four months.
This game is getting big.
We were not willing to or did not dare to play such a big game.
But now it is not up to us, we are forced to play this game.
Then let us play this game between civilization and barbarism, and play this life-and-death game.
We will use our LIFE to maintain the dignity of constitution and laws!
We will use our LIFE to maintian our dignity!
We do not believe that you can cover the sky with one hand!
We want to fulfil the contract!
We want to go back our 3rd branch!
