My wife who just had her eye examined and her Dr. said she has the beginning stages of Macular Degeneration (as of this writing, we have yet to determine if she has a wet or dry condition). I'd like to ask if MMS has any effect on reducing, if not remove the progress of Macular Degeneration and how MMS can be applied to it. Of course, any other method besides MMS are welcome to help my wife's condition.

Apologies if I posted in the wrong forum.

My father has Macular Degeneration. Was diagnosed a couple years ago. He has been getting injections every 6 months. I dont know what the injections are, but he also uses some sort of drops. His eyesight has had a remarkable improvement. His eyes used to be full of bloodshot veins and yellowing, but today they are white and clear, and he can still drive in daylight hours.

It is a serious and progressive condition, and I honestly don't think I would go DIY on this one. My opinion of course. Please be careful and make sure you have a reputable eye specialist that you trust.

(for the record, I am really not a fan of Drs). But eyesight is not something to be taken lightly.

You might want to try RnA Drops. They seem to help just about anything. I just ordered some, and if they help me, I'm going to have my sweetie take them too. He has a degenerative eye condition.

Dr. Carolyn Dean has a radio show and a blog post that you may also get more information from.

Many topics are dealt with on her Future Health Blog, or you can also search for your wife's condition and Dr. Carolyn Dean's name.

Hopefully you find some answers.

All the best to your wife. I recommend Radiation Hormesis.

There is a whole thread about it here:

Here is my interview with Jay Gutierrez about radiation hormesis. At 1:34:34 minutes is where he talks about Macular Degeneration

There is, as Sidney suggests, an effective treatment for one type of MD, but the other does not respond. Personally I agree that it is best to be very careful regarding eyes --- sight is precious.

It has been suggested in some research that canola is not good for various eye conditions, including MD. It seems to be in virtually all margarines, so if you like a bit of yellow fat on your toast make it pure butter!

The Canadian Herbalist guy has great info. Here is his library page. I recall reading something in the castor oil section where he quotes long sections from an Egar Cayce forum. In there they spoke of putting potato (raw scraped potato mush - on each closed eye lid. The testimonials were fantastic.
Also if you search his site you may find utube videos on eyes.
About 19 years ago I went thru (the ringer) with eyedoctors. My eyes have healed using alternatives such as billberry tinctures, vitamins and so forth
Recently I came across Meir Schneider who healed himself of near blindness. http://self-healing.org/meir-schneider/ In my opinion he is the real deal. He has a talk on Conscious TV you can google.
Dont worry, be happy

I found this info from Dr. Robert Rowen, Second Opinion Newsletter.

Stop macular degeneration
in just 90 days

Eye disease is perhaps the biggest concern of my readers. Macular degeneration in particular. Because conventional medicine doesn’t offer much hope with macular degeneration, I’m always looking for ways to stop and reverse the disease. I’ve written about many of the remedies I’ve found in the past. But today, I have an exciting report about a superfood that protects the macula!

The news comes from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study on 150 healthy elderly subjects. The researchers conducting this study gave goji berries in a proprietary milk-based formulation called “Lacto-Wolfberry.” The participants took 13.7 grams/day for 90 days.

After the three months, the researchers compared these participants to those taking a placebo. They found those taking the goji berries had superior macular preservation. Specifically, the placebo group developed hypopigmentation and soft Drusen in the macula, both signs of disease progression. Pigment is a critical part of retina structure. Drusen is waste material.

The goji group remained stable. Furthermore, the goji group enjoyed significant increases in plasma zeaxanthin (25%) and antioxidant capacity (57%). No such improvement was noted in the placebo group. Zeaxanthin is one of the most important bioflavonoid protectors for your retina.

I have not seen this proprietary product for sale anywhere. However, I’m not sure that it’s necessary. Goji berries are widely available and are one of the richest sources of these super nutrients on the planet. You might remember that I carried goji berries on my arduous John Muir Trail Trek. I think so highly of these berries that I’m now growing them in my yard.

Feel free to eat as many goji berries as you want. They’re great for your eyes and your whole body. I’ll have more on this wonderful fruit in the future.

Yours for better health and medical freedom,

Robert J. Rowen, MD

How one supplement stops macular degeneration and Alzheimer’s

On Wednesday, I showed you how grapes can help prevent macular degeneration. While eating a phytonutrient-rich diet will go a long way toward preventing it, this is a very difficult disease to prevent and treat. So I always suggest throwing everything you can at it, including supplements. A new study looked at one supplement in particular and found that it can have a dramatic impact. What’s more, they found that it also may help Alzheimer’s disease.

In this study, the researchers treated middle-aged mice with vitamin D for six weeks. The vitamin apparently helped lower toxic beta amyloid in their eyes and blood vessels. You might know beta amyloid as the protein that accumulates in Alzheimer’s disease. It also affects your eyes.

In the study, the animals actually got better vision. It also reduced the numbers of macrophage cells. While these cells are an essential part of your immune defense, higher numbers can mean unwanted inflammation in your body.

While this study was on mice, not humans, it illustrates the importance of vitamin D to your health. It also suggests that vitamin D could be useful in preventing the beta amyloid buildup seen in Alzheimer’s.

What’s interesting is that vitamin D, made by ultraviolet light striking your skin, helps your vision. Having macular degeneration is NOT a reason to stay out of the sun, nor is it a reason to block all UV (with UV blocking glasses) from reaching your eyes. My eye doctor mentor Ed Kondrot, MD, teaches that a lack of UV light might be just as harmful to your eyes.

People today spend too much time indoors. God made us to be in the sun, not inside all the time. If you can’t get outdoors, I suggest taking supplemental vitamin D (5,000 IU daily). I’ve not seen that dose of vitamin D be problematic for anyone, even with long-term use.

Yours for better health and medical freedom,

Robert J. Rowen, MD

Hi william6565william,
You may find the following links very useful.

http://www.3news.co.nz/Could-saffron-cure-eye-sight-problems/tabid/817/articleID/255460/Default.aspx

http://www.mdrevision.com/

We are novice saffron growers and in researching our product we have started networking with other growers in New Zealand.
I have personally met Andy Stewart of mdrevision a couple of times and what he is achieving with his product is amazing.
He has told me that it is especially effective in people who have been recently diagnosed.
Andy is a very approachable man and I believe he is now sending his product worldwide.

There has been full scientific study into this, in a collaboration between The University of L'Aquila in Italy and The University of Sydney in Australia.
Research info here: http://www.persavita.com/healthinfo/science-update/saffronmaculardegenerationeyehealthvisionloss/283/
and here: http://sydney.edu.au/news/84.html?newsstoryid=4452

I hope this info is of use to you. Which ever treatment you and your wife choose I wish you all the very best.

I've decided to give Saffron and Goji Berries a try, but the problem is where I can buy them at their purest form. Some sellers would claim theirs is purest available, but in reality its otherwise (or even fake). I hear Goji Berries are grown mostly in China, while Saffron in Iran, Afghanistan, and Spain. I did not have any luck finding distributors/farmers on their respective countries online so I can contact and purchase from them directly (never mind the costs). If anyone has any idea where I can order them at their purest form, I greatly appreciate it.
