A wheelchair-bound Canadian woman was denied entry to the United States this week because she was previously diagnosed with clinical depression. Now she wants to know why the US Department of Homeland Security had her medical history on file.

The Toronto Star’s Valerie Haunch reported on Thursday that 50-year-old author Ellen Richardson was turned away from the city’s Pearson Airport three days earlier after DHS officials said she lacked the necessary medical clearance to cross into the US.

“I was turned away, I was told, because I had a hospitalization in the summer of 2012 for clinical depression,’’ Richardson told the Star.

The woman, who has been paraplegic since an unsuccessful suicide attempt in 2001, was planning to fly to New York City to start a 10-day Caribbean cruisein collaboration with a March of Dimes group, and had already invested around $6,000 into the trip, she told the paper.

“I was so aghast. I was saying, ‘I don’t understand this. What is the problem?’ I was so looking forward to getting away . . . I’d even brought a little string of Christmas lights I was going to string up in the cabin. . . . It’s not like I can just book again right away," she said.

But according to what American officials told her, it would take the permission of US government-approved doctor and around $500 in fees in order to enter the country. Richardson soon left the airport defeated, but only afterward did she begin to raise questions about what the DHS knew about her.

"It really hit me later — that it's quite stunning they have that information,” she told CBC.

More than a dozen Canadians have told the Psychiatric Patient Advocate Office in Toronto within the past year that they were blocked from entering the United States after their records of mental illness were shared with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Lois Kamenitz, 65, of Toronto contacted the office last fall, after U.S. customs officials at Pearson International Airport prevented her from boarding a flight to Los Angeles on the basis of her suicide attempt four years earlier.

Kamenitz says she was stopped at customs after showing her passport and asked to go to a secondary screening. There, a Customs and Border Protection officer told Kamenitz that he had information that police had attended her home in 2006.

"I was really perturbed," Kamenitz says. "I couldn’t figure out what he meant. And then it dawned on me that he was referring to the 911 call my partner made when I attempted suicide."

Kamenitz says she asked the officer how he had obtained her medical records.

A document completed by a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officer says that at a secondary inspection at Pearson airport in Toronto, it was ascertained that Lois Kamenitz had 'attempted suicide in 2006,' and a medical clearance would be required for a further attempt to enter the United States. (Sarah Bridge/CBC)

"That was the only thing I could think of," she says. "But he said, no, he didn’t have my medical records but he did have a contact note from the police that [they] had attended my home."

Stanley Stylianos, program manager at the Psychiatric Patient Advocate Office, says his organization has heard more than a dozen stories similar to Kamenitz’s.

The office has also received phone calls from numerous Canadians who have not yet had encounters with U.S. customs officers, but are worried that their own mental health histories may cause security delays while travelling south of the border for business or family trips.

32 Privacy Destroying Technologies That Are Systematically Transforming America Into A Giant Prison (http://www.riseearth.com/2013/11/32-privacy-destroying-technologies-that.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+riseearth%2FKZKa+%28RiseEarth%29#.UpqC0eKzJbE)

If you live in the United States, you live in a high tech surveillance grid that is becoming more oppressive with each passing day. In America today, the control freaks that run things are completely obsessed with watching, tracking, monitoring and recording virtually everything that we do. If we continue on the path that we are currently on, we will be heading into a future where there will be absolutely no privacy of any kind.

In fact, many would argue that we are essentially there already. Many people speak of this as being the “Information Age“, but most Americans don’t really stop and think about what that really means. Most of the information that is considered to be so “valuable” is actually about all of us. Businesses want to know as much about all of us as possible so that they can sell us stuff.

Government officials want to know as much about all of us as possible so that they can make sure that we are not doing anything that they don’t like.

There is a constant hunger for even more information, and so the surveillance technologies just continue to become even more advanced and the Big Brother control grid being constructed all around us just continues to become even more pervasive. Even though you may not be consciously aware of it, the truth is that it is surrounding you right now even as you read this. We live in a society where liberty and freedom are literally being strangled to death, but most Americans don’t seem to care.

Do you know who else gets watched, tracked and monitored 24 hours a day?

Prisoners do.

Surveillance is a form of control, and at this point we are little more than inmates inside a gigantic Big Brother surveillance grid.

Posted below is a list of 32 privacy destroying technologies that are systematically transforming America into a giant prison. Following each item, there is a short excerpt from a news report about that particular technology. If you want to read the entire article where the excerpt came from, just click the link to find the source. Individually, each of these technologies is deeply troubling. But when you step back and take a look at them all collectively, it is absolutely horrifying…

I have seen this coming for the last 5 years. I remembered have cleared all charges against the NAME that had no convictions. That's right even if you were found innocent (or in their books not guilty, they still keep it as a record to alert future prosecutors, that you may be a "special challenge" to "get money out of"... and if you don't specifically request that these "non charges" be removed they are secretly kept and used against you. to get them removed, It's a process called a file destruction. (apparently they may have a new name for it now... as they keep changing the name and hiding how to get it done. It should wipe any records completely clean, and remove all records files, prints, etc. Mind you, you have to have no criminal record first. Before you can do that. So if you have a criminal record you cannot get this done.

Then when I went to cross the border (to see what their response was... they kept pulling me over and asking me 21 questions... and they would NEVER tell me the reason for pulling me over... it just went on and on, it was like "why was I coming over" (...cause I feel like it?) And if I had committed any crimes? and then eventually I said I wanted to go to a MLM presentation, from that point on the would pull me over and ask me if I was trying to get work across the border.

It's the same thing with insurance, if you don't have anything on your record, they are highly suspicious and start a program of trying to create a record, by asking a series of questions. Starting with who your last provider was (so they can get the record...) and on and on it goes... It time we wake up and start learning specific strategies how to defeat these violations of our rights... it just keeps getting uglier and uglier...

So you kind of do not exist sigma6. You are no more on the SSN (social security number) list sold on the trading floor.

Can you explain, for the unwise here. what was your thinking, why you did it and moslty how. And, do you think it is still possilbe to get everything erased?

You must not use credit cards right? If you do, how do you proceed with no file?
