Some of you will recall I am not a Christmas kinda person (as a Buddhist I celebrate every day) but having a teenager who has always loved Christmas, has compelled me to be the best Father Christmas I can be.
Every year we go out and see the lights and my son also sets up his own lights with his mum.
As a kid I used to travel all around Hong Kong looking at Christmas lights. In Honkers it's on another level entirely. Anyway, I used to love it and I look back on my memories of the lights of Honkers with fondness.
Once when we visited my father in Queensland with our baby boy, we did the Christmas lights tour, walking around trying to avoid walking on crabs who were far from home and hissing beetles who were out fighting battles. My son spent as much time investigating this strange menagerie, as he did watching the lights and oohing and aahing.
Christmas lights and Christmas self directed light tours have grown a lot since then. Between those who try to keep up with the Joneses and those who like to keep their neighbours awake, there's a lot kind folks out there, trying to make the festive season festive ! I didn't know anything about lights with music until recently.
Enjoy.
