There has been constant denials by the DOD of their lack of interest in the UFO phenomena. Yet through research I have found a few indications which have escaped the clutches of the censor.
A program issued by the DOD states the following:

THIS LESSON CONTAINS BOTH GENERAL INFORMATION TO PROVIDE THE FLIGHT DATA SPECIALIST WITH BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE AND SPECIFIC INFORMATION TO HELP PERFORM ASSIGNED DUTIES WHEN CONFRONTED WITH EMERGENCIES, HIJACKINGS, BOMB THREATS, UFO REPORTS,INFORMATION REQUESTS, ALERT NOTICES, AND SPECIAL FLIGHT OPERATIONS. "
Another interesting document:
DOD 5040.6-M-1 "Decision Logic Table instructions for Recording and Handling Visual Information Material" dated October 21 2002." In the index it states: "C5.21 Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) and Other Aerial Phenomena Imagery" This manual is "mandatory", and covers all "DOD Components" according to a letter from the Assistant Secretary of Defense dated 21 October 2002.
And the following USAF Instruction:
AFI 10-206 dated October 15 2008. Entitled "Operational Reporting" Chapter 5 "COMMUNICATIONS INSTRUCTIONS REPORTING VITAL INTELLIGENCE SIGHTINGS (CIRVIS)", UFO reports where apart of the incidents to report.
Yet so far under the Freedom of Information Act the USAF and the DOD have no records responsive to my requests. It seems strange that Instructions and Manuals are written instructing people to report these incidents yet, yet no records exist or reported. If this is the case why do these Instructions and Manuals exist?
