Coroner has said it was suicide :http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25598791

A world-renowned hacker, who died in San Francisco in July, overdosed on a mix of heroin, cocaine and other drugs, a coroner's report shows.

Mr Jack's death occurred shortly before he was due to demonstrate how heart implants could be hacked at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas.

He had said one technique could kill a man from 30 feet (nine metres) away.

Updated: Changed suicides to deaths due to mistake and discrimination failure originally

The word "suicide" doesn't appear once in that article, and at no point it is suggested that Jack killed himself premeditatedly.

Jack had given a lot of demonstrations of security issues in various systems already. In other words, for him it was pretty much always right "before giving a talk on weaknesses in [..] technology." He certainly made some enemies by exposing the flaws in many systems, but as of now, I don't see conclusive evidence that would suggest that he was assassinated.

I have seen no outrage or even comments from friends and family after his death suggesting that they thought he was killed. Now the drug overdose report seems plausible, probably no one in his family would be too proud of that, coming out like, "it had to happen, he was doing all kinds of drugs."

So, as of now, to me it seems like no suicide, no assassination; just a drug overdose. It's sad, but stuff like that happens. Not every good guy who dies early was assassinated.

You are right.

It seems I got misled by the context I was referred to that article in - a careless mistake - sorry. I changed suspicious suicides to suspicious deaths.
