protein is hard for the kidneys to break down so maybe research which foods are easier for the kidneys to handle. Too much salt is bad too and my mother in law had kidney disease and she had to avoid a lot of potassium foods. She got to a stage where she could not eat anything though and nobody understood why and this was part of her illness. It may be best for family to get tested to see if they are a match to be a donar too , better to be prepared xxxx good luck

If it were me or anyone in my family, I would immediately order the kidney products from this site: https://www.herbdoc.com/index.php/?c=1 Dr. Shulze knows his cures!

The only thing you can trust about conventional medicine is that they will fail you.

Hi EYES WIDE OPEN,

I can certainly recommend kinesiology. You may be able to find a kinesiologist in your area who is accredited by the International Kinesiology College (IKC).

I hope that you will find help for your Dad.

Hi EyesWideOpen,
I would try to inform your dad about nutrition, that it is the main factor, which influences the kidneys (in our 3D-plus-time-world). Your dad should realise this for hisself.
The human organism would try to restore his balanced regime as soon he gets the "fuel" he is designed for.
I'm convinced he could get well.
The first infos are here:

http://www.reocities.com/HotSprings/7627/ggindex.html

Especially the part Anopsology is for the practise.

Sorry, i'm no native english speaking, so my infos are not that much. But the link explains the complexity of the theme quiet good.
I had the pleasure to meet the original author more than 20 years ago in France.
The method should work very rapidly... but don't tell too much about this to others, the reactions are disencouraging maybe ;-)

I either don't like to lay out so much details here... it is much more dangerous than to talk about bad or good E.T.s

Best wishes for you and your father

HI , I'm an advocate of the alternative medicine because a long history of failures of the traditional med on my self and relatives! I found a link on internet a few years ago and ,discover that the product works , and IT DOES!. THE guy that promotes the discovery is JIM HUMBLE, the product calls MMS miracle mineral solution,
I try it for flu, it works, try for a very bad fungus infection on my feet , it works, . I'm not related to Mr Jim or anything alike. Just I want to recommend to browse into his web and check the video,. ALSO I try black walnut tincture from Dr Hulda Clark . it works .
I do not know about this desease , I'm not a doctor, but now we have a powerfull tool on our side call internet, ! DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND YOU DECIDE WHAT TO DO, . AND I'LL CONSULT AN HOLISTIC DOCTOR FIRST, I hope this will help! YETTI

the first step is attitude ... along with alot of things , a positive mind helped me help my wife beat lung cancer in 2006-2007 ... you have to KNOW you are getting better , not believe , believing is future thinking and waiting leaving a door open ... KNOW is past, it's already done ... every been around someone that nothing gets them down ??? I mean nothing ... the mind is more powerful than you know ... hang in there, stand firm ...

Eyes Wide Open,

I have never studied kidney disease, so I have no useful advice, but could not just read and ignore your plea.

Remember, MD doctors get very little or no training in nutrition, and lots of training in which pill to prescribe, and which procedure to order. In a late stage of disease, your dad may need fact-acting, powerful medicine to save his life, so I would not dismiss the possibility that a conventional MD may have the correct solution.

I too have read that protein (or excess protein) is stressful on the kidneys.

Logically, I would think the purest water possible would help, possibly water with heightened alkalinity (sodium bicarbonate and/or potassium bicarbonate) but there may be specific levels of sodium and potassium electrolytes in the water that would need to be achieved to help - rather than stress - the kidneys. I would ask the doc that question, just to make sure you don't do exactly the wrong thing.

You may need to find out very specifically what type of kidney disease your dad has, and any test results - and take those to extremely knowledgeable naturopath, Ayurveda practitioner, or herbalist for assistance.

Wish I could help, but I am sending my intention for a positive and healthful outcome.

Hi Eyes wide open,
So sorry to hear about your Dad,
Kidney disease is a very complicated condition. My eldest daughter also has 3 rd stage renal failure and has done since she was 6 years old, now 26. Guys hospital saved her life. So please don't dismiss mainstream medicine out of hand. Correct diet is very important. Wise words from Dennis.
My daughter is a vegetarian that defiantly helps. Positive mind set too.

Hi EYES WIDE OPEN!
I can describe what worked for me when I had similar condition. I am not sure about the numbers, here it is labeled differently.

Bare in mind i was a kid at that stage and there might be some differences in the way the organism handles this kind of stress when it is young and when it is a bit older.
I was around 7 when I had what I call 3 days of being almost dead. For anyone who knows how kidney and their adjacent organs hurt, they know this is one of the worst pains there is. Eventually it ended when I peed 4 stones, one as big as a pea. During those 3 days I couldn't eat or drink, the natural reaction of the body was to return everything from the outside back.
This led me to the later discovery of fasting. Since that is what the body tries to do when into a crisis of this type, I realized that is the most natural way for it to also heal. When I say fasting I mean drinking only pure water for 7 to 10 days. No honeys, no fruits, no teas, nothing else. The reason behind this is that after the 3-4th day your digestion stops, and a process of regeneration starts. If you give your body even teas with honey this process is suppressed and lasts much longer.

I don't want to go into the grim details of the process, you can discover a lot of information online. The bottom line is that most of the internal organs regenerate given the chance. Many 'conditions' get reversed never to come back.

I had to eliminate from my food all fruits and vegetables that had purple skin- like eggplants and plums, partially tomatos and spinach. Meat of all kinds is bad for a kidney sufferer because of some of its byproducts, there was a name for that components and I will try to find it and write it here. I stopped eating meat years later when I was given the chance to choose. When I was little I just had no choice since my parents were quite opinionated. 30 years later I haven't had another crisis of that type.

Despite the running idea of eating raw for perfect health I discovered on my own, later to find out learning the concepts of Chinese qi gong practice, that most food creates less stress on the body when it is mildly cooked. Steamed vegetables, soups, that sort of thing, and raw fruits. There is the notion that the food needs to be tasty, a bit warmer than the body, and in good balance with the needs and the seasons.
Here is the moment when I suggest finding a good Chinese medicine man in your area.

Once you have been through this you will do anything to never experience it again. I hope your dad regains his health back fast.

Conk, I will definitely go deeper into the information you provided. I have bookmarked it for further reference and reading.

If the man is in pain, I doubt he will have the time to wait for the supplements to work their way. This kind of pain is able to make you go out of your body and mind. I remember almost every hour of those few days, and I also remember how I wanted to die just so that it will stop. You can't sleep, you can't think, you can't eat, and you only hope to find a position in which it hurts a bit less. To me it was not a one time pain, I had it for a few years before the event, and a few years later, thanks to my parents who decided conventional doctors will do something. Eventually I grew up, things changed and I did some changes. But it was my biggest fear, that the pain will come back.

I hope our fellow avalonian will come back here to report positive changes.

I was introduced at one point by my mother to the benefits of bearberry for kidneys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bearberry
The tea prepared from the dried herb is consumed with the addition of baking soda because it is quite hard on the stomach. The baking soda takes the edge of it, so to speak, but it is added I think and for the reason of alkalizing the internal homeostasis. The herb acts as a diuretic and also helps with the elimination of stones.

it would be interesting to know what exactly the problem is. the kidneys have different sorts of tissue that reacts differently and gets "damaged" for different reasons. some tissue grows, other ulcerates or necrotizes...
without knowing what exactly is wrong it's not so easy to cure a condition.

at any rate, the first thing would be to sleep elsewhere because chronic conditions are nearly always caused or intensified by a bad sleeping place. all healthy eating will do no good if such is the case.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) considers the energetic organs of the body rather differently than in western medicine. Our two kidneys, for example, are considered in TCM to be one single organ system, out of the 12 energetic organ systems in the body (which include the lung, heart, stomach and spleen). The kidney organ system has its own meridian system, and is associated with the healing colour blue, the element of water, the negative emotion of fear and the positive emotion of willpower.

The kidney is also associated with the ears, the sense of hearing, and the control of the bones, teeth, nervous system, hair on the head, hair on the reproductive organs, neurological tissue and the brain.

It is very important to strengthen the kidney, as its main functions are to regulate reproduction, to mediate the genetic expression of a person's essence (the energy that unifies "nature" and "nurture") and to store the congenital (present at birth) and acquired vital energy of the body known as qi. Spiritually, the kidney controls important aspects of both the inner and outer consciousness of a person.

The zang and fu pairing

In TCM, all the organ systems are paired according to their zang (solid) or fu (hollow) characteristics. The kidney, which is a zang organ, is paired with the bladder, which is a fu organ. These two organ systems network as yin and yang with one another.
The bladder not only stores and excretes urine, but it also complements the kidney, by regulating the exchange of energy between the inside and outside, and the outside and inside of the body to the organ systems. In this way, the kidney and bladder can balance the body's inner and outer spirits and promote the mental health and stability of a person, such as willpower.

When a person becomes unwell, the functions of the kidney and the bladder become disordered and quality of life diminishes. The disorder usually affects the kidney in acute conditions, whereas it affects the bladder in chronic ones. Therefore, by observing which organ systems are involved, you can assess the status of the condition.

The kidney's meridian system

Each of the 12 organ systems has its own meridian system that is made up of one left and one right meridian. Along the meridians, many acupoints can be employed to various functions, such as tonification, sedation, or altering the flow of qi throughout the body.

The kidney meridian has 27 acupoints, starting at the bottom of the foot, running up the medial (middle) side of the ankle to the knee, up the medial thigh, then to the anterior (front) pubic bone, and then up to the front of the chest to terminate beneath the inner side of the clavicle (collarbone).

All these acupoints have their specific actions. For instance acupoint KI.1, on the bottom of the foot, absorbs the earth energy into the body. KI.6, located on the inside of the ankle, controls human essence and is used to treat infertility or stabilize the person's genetic factors. KI.10, on the knee, is essential for improving and building up kidney energy. KI.27, at the bottom of the clavicle, can be used to treat the lymphatic system throughout the whole body.

Are you a kidney personality?

The kidney reflects the colour blue and so blue colours energize and revitalize kidney qi. Furthermore, the kidney is associated with the element of water, according to the Five Elements Theory.

It is possible to ascertain whether individuals have a water personality by examining their hands, face or nature. According to hand diagnosis, if their fingers are shorter than their palm, thenar muscles (found at the base of the thumb) are not well developed, and the palm is concave with many lines inscribed upon its surface, they are said to have a water personality, or a water-kidney personality. This indicates a person who is sensitive, flexible, fond of water and a great thinker.

Signs of kidney problems

If the kidney is out of balance, we will feel pain and burning sensations in the soles of the feet. In western terms, this is known as plantar fasciitis or calcaneal spurs.

Emotionally, the kidney is positively associated with willpower when you are healthy and negatively associated with fear when you are disordered. Thus, when the kidney is weak, we feel fearful, but when the kidney is healthy, we have willpower.

In addition, the kidney plays very important roles in a person's anatomical development and intellectual consciousness. In children, fear can hinder physical and psychological development, which is manifest in physiological problems such as stunted growth patterns, diseases of the teeth, and slow physical and mental development.

There are several pathological outcomes to kidney disorders. When a person has kidney problems, they will often complain about pain in the kidney, bone and the urinary tract. Symptoms include changes in the frequency, urgency and dysuria (pain or difficulty) of urination, as well as feeling emotionally fearful.

When the kidney is weak, it is difficult to deposit calcium in the bone, and may cause osteopenia (reduced bone mass), and even osteoporosis, in serious cases.

Menopausal hot flashes can be also associated with kidney qi deficiency. Since the kidney is a water organ, it functions to cool the heat of the body, and when the kidney is deficient, the liver organ system, which is associated with wood, dries up. The excess heat in the body ignites the wood of the liver and thus can cause hot flashes.

Since the kidney controls the bones, any disorder involving the bones, such as broken bones or trauma to the bone, can make the kidney disordered. In TCM, it is insufficient to treat osteoporosis solely with vitamin D and calcium. It is vitally important to treat the kidney to make the bones stronger.

I met someone recently with severe kidney disease who was cured using Dolores Cannon's Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique. He's been to the doctor a few times now and all his lab tests consistently come back normal. He's done a session on me and it's amazing. I've since taken Dolores' course when she was in Sydney last month.

Here's a short video clip of Dolores on the subject with Kerry C.

ZAABw-SgMxE
There's a directory of practitioners on Dolores' website (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAABw-SgMxE), with many in the UK. More info on the technique is available on the same site.

I know it may sound hard to believe, I'm still trying to comprehend it myself. All the very best with finding a solution.

There are various reasons for the formation of kidney stones. It could be that your diet is too high in calcium, meat protein, salt (increases urate), purines (found in alcoholic beverages) or oxalate (cranberry, apple, orange juices). Insufficient water consumption is also a factor. Other causative factors are existing medical problems such as urinary tract infection, gout, inflammatory bowel disorders, sedentary lifestyle and genetics.

People with kidney stones experience extreme discomfort, with several episodes of sudden sharp and excruciating pain in the lower abdomen or groin that can sometimes be relieved by movement. The pain may or may not radiate, depending on whether the stones move. Signs and symptoms associated with kidney stones include abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea and vomiting. Larger stones are often treated by using ultrasound or X-rays to locate them and then shock waves or laser treatment to break them down. In fewer than 1% of cases they will have to be surgically removed.[1]

Once it is medically confirmed that you have kidney stones, doctors will more than likely send you home with a prescription for heavy duty pain killers. However, medications are not the only tool that can relieve you of your suffering from kidney stones. In fact, there are natural remedies that may be able to provide additional comfort as you and your body duel with kidney stones.

10 Natural Remedies For Kidney Stones

1. Increase Your Hydration – This is by far the best natural remedy for any type of kidney stones you have. People diagnosed with kidney stones should be consuming a minimum of 10 glasses of fluids on a daily basis. People who are at risk of developing cystine stones should drink more fluids, at least 14 glasses every day. To determine if you are drinking enough fluids, check if your urine is colourless. If not, then you ought to increase your hydration and must be consistent with it.

Water remains the best fluid for everyone and should comprise at least half of their hydration routine. Although there is calcium concentration in water in general, it plays a diminutive role in stone formation. Lemon juice (up to half a cup per day) is a wonderful ingredient that can be added to your water or food (especially good with meats or fish) and is proven to be beneficial in the prevention of kidney stones because it contains citric acid. As citrate levels in the body increase, your protection against kidney stones also increases. The high content of vitamin C will also boost your immune system. [2]

2. Dandelion – A taproot perennial that grows abundantly in North America, Europe and Asia, dandelion (Taraxacum Officinale) has anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties [3] that contribute to the prevention of kidney stones. On top of that, dandelion is a natural diuretic which makes it a great tonic and cleanser for our kidneys, often helping to dissolve stones and to prevent further formation of them. You can make an infusion of dandelion leaves or a decoction of the root, either by harvesting your own plants (the roots can be dried slowly in a warm oven for storage) or by buying ready-made dandelion tea bags or tincture. It is best taken unsweetened as the bitter taste stimulates the digestive system.

3. Pomegranates – Since pomegranates are low in potassium, they are great for people who are on a renal diet. A renal diet is generally low in protein, salt, phosphorus and potassium and is recommended for people who are suffering from renal problems like kidney stones and kidney failure. So if you are concerned about the risk of kidney stones, start your day with a glass of fresh pomegranate juice or make a habit of eating pomegranates.

4. Basil – Basil is commonly found in our kitchen, but did you know that basil is a known natural remedy for kidney stones? Basil can strengthen our kidneys. [4] Make a tea or juice out of fresh basil leaves, adding some raw honey. Drinking this delicious concoction everyday can help to alleviate the discomfort of kidney stones.

5. Grapefruit – Grapefruit ranks as one of the most powerful sources of antioxidants among fruits therefore the regular consumption of grapefruit can help you ward off urinary tract infection. Grapefruit juice is another powerful tool that reduces calcium oxalate kidney stones. [5] In a study published in The British Journal of Nutrition, the incidence of calcium oxalate stone formation lowered among their subjects who drank half to one litre of grapefruit juice daily due to an increased urine pH and increased citrate levels.

6. Marshmallow Root – Marshmallow root has strong anti-inflammatory properties. This herb contains mucilages, which form a protective coating to soothe tissues that have become inflamed and irritated. This coating protects the digestive and urinary tract when kidney stones pass. Dr. James Balch, author of The Super Antioxidants, recommends a daily intake of two pints of marshmallow root tea to effectively flush out kidney stones from the body. [6]

7. Green Tea – Perhaps everybody agrees that green tea is a wonder drink. A group of doctors from Nagoya City University Graduate School of Medical Sciences conducted a study in 2005 about the preventative effects of green tea in the formation of renal stones. The study showed that the antioxidant properties of green tea actually lowered the formation of calcium oxalate deposits thus preventing calcium oxalate urolithiasis. [7] Opt for the caffeine free green tea, and drink at least 2-3 cups a day.

8. Wild Carrot (Leaves and Seeds) – As an aromatic herb, wild carrot (Daucus Carota) is not to be confused with the common vegetable carrot. Wild carrot is a known diuretic, which means it encourages toxins and waste to be flushed out from our kidneys. [8] It has been said that a herbal infusion of the wild carrot leaves and seeds is a good natural antidote to kidney stone formation. Even if stones have begun to form, the same concoction is still reported to be capable of diminishing those harmful stones and reducing their recurrence.

9. Eat for the benefit of your kidneys – Too much salt, alcohol and preservatives top the list of food items to avoid. Go for meals that contain a minimal amount of salt and as much as possible cook your own food from fresh ingredients. Buying canned goods is not only more costly but also potentially dangerous to your kidneys. Invest in fruits and vegetables that have high antioxidant properties such as tomatoes, blueberries, squashes and carrots. Beware of red meats (such as pork and beef), oxalate rich foods (nuts, spinach and beans), cold water fish, refined foods like white bread and commercial fast foods like French fries and burgers.

10. A healthy lifestyle means healthy kidneys – Before taking any prescription drugs, always consult your doctor first. There are medications that can do more harm to your kidneys than good. Start a habit of doing at least 30 minutes of exercise every day – this will help your body’s fluids to circulate and to keep your system free from kidney stones.

I have used the Standard Process products for years and find them to be very effective. They are "whole" food supplements, meaning they are made up of whole foods (organically) grown by them and are used in their products. The products that relate to specific organs have "protomorphogen" extracts in them. The product that relates to the Kidney's is called, "Renafood". Additional prouducts to complement and restore Kidney function is "Arginex", Arginex promotes healthy breakdown of protein byproducts in the liver, it helps to maintain healthy kidney function and encourages healthy urinary flow to support normal water balance. https://www.standardprocess.com/Standard-Process/Product-Selection-Guide

Here is a brief video on "protomorphagens".https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb5Z5wc-I1Q&noredirect=1

Helpful hint, in most instances, there are no "silver bullets", or quick fixes when it comes to allowing the body to heal naturally. But the good news is, there are a lot of great alternatives to the "Allopathic" modality of treating kidney disease. More than likely, its going to take a combination of trying a lot of things before one finds the "sweet" spot that causes the body to respond favorably.

Detox the kidney's with a kidney cleanse and simultaneously, repair them using the "protomorphagens" from Standard Process. Cheer!

Here are herbs for kidney:

Uva Ursa
Marshmallow
Parsley

Making kidney tea will be more potent then taking the pills. Take the herbs and make a tea out of them. The rule is to boil roots for 5 minutes and if it's just a leaf then just put in hot water. I would drink this three times a day.

I would also get Dr. Chi's asparagus extract and take this all day long. Contact Marijah McCain at HerbalHealer.com . She cured her self of a near fatal kidney issue. She's an herbalist.

Kidney disease is when it is clogged with too many toxins. Cleansing is the only thing that will work.

Wonderful news that your dad has turned the corner and is on his way to healing!

Once the antibiotics destroys much of his gut flora, he will need help in rebuilding. The latest stuff I've been reading suggests that taking probiotic pills has the side effect of feeding candida and bad gut bacteria...and so eating fermented foods may be a better way to build them up.

Hi EWO, first, you are sharing here, thank you for sharing with us. You do not need to do anything, But it's wise to know that you are drinking to try and eliminate the pain. Maybe you can slowly reduce this need. Please Know that you are going through a process.. try to invest in anything that may bring you comfort, people that you can feel comfortable with and close to, Be kind to yourself and do not be afraid to think about your father in all ways possible. Things will work out just fine, painful emotions and concerns will cease and new positive ones will arise. I know, I lost my mother a year and a half ago. All will be well, you will see.

Peaceful energies are sent your way, and to your father, peaceful journey and the enjoyment of freedom from the body ~

if weak or shutting down, check for aortic aneurism. Is he forming clots behind knees or inner thigh? Sometimes an aneurism which is like a blood filled balloon, caused by weakening walls of the aortic arteries. They fill with blood, clots and send little clots around the body like a water sprinkler clogging smaller veins. When there is blockage in the inner thigh, the kidneys are robbed of blood, and blockage of all veins are possible including those in the lungs.

EWO It was after the birth of my first daughter that I suddenly saw birth/gave birth and that opened me up to knowing this : Here today gone tomorrow, Not here yesterday here today.

This earth life time in a carbon unit/flesh body is on one hand a blip in the primordial soup but on the other hand this life time is vast and all encompassing.

Your father is still available to you. First you need to help him and support him in his transition. Your pain can hold him back. When you release, surrender, and except your fathers transition you will both be free and connected at the same time.

Death is so hard for those left living...cry your tears and spend time focusing on all the great memories and lessons learned during your physical time with your father...he is still with you. Listen and you will hear him communicating with you.

I still cry sometimes that my grandmother is not here in the physical, she was my closest relative and friend and she died over 25 years ago.

Much love to you in your time of loss!

I am sad for your loss EWO, My father also passed away last year, I am not sure if you have other family members around you to help with the arrangements of your fathers funeral or you are alone in your mourning, but either way you have to take a deep breath and be strong for your family and father at this time.

There will be practical help available wherever you are. An advice center like the citizens advice we have here in Scotland. Which is Just a phone call away.

Be strong and clear headed at this time. Celebrate your fathers life (In moderation) :tea: Give him the passing he deserves and take care of yourself.

I send you courage at this time.

Peace

O.K. I am sober and relaxed now. I feel a different stage within me. I have re-read this thread and am embarrassed about my drunk postings. Sorry all. And thanks to everyone for your beautiful words of support. They really are helping.

Eyes Wide Open- I feel your loss. My father passed almost six years ago and I still miss him every day. However, I'm glad, in a way, that he left because he didn't like what the world was becoming and he would like it even less six years later. Some people are just a treasure on the earth and to the people that are fortunate enough to have known them. I know my dad was and it sounds like your dad was too. Your father will always live in and through your memories.

I'm sending you thoughts of peace and comfort today. Time will heal your wounds.

P.S.-alcohol is a drug that helps bring emotion to the forefront. That is why it has been used at wakes for centuries by many societies around the world. So, don't beat yourself up for using it at this time of intense grief.

Dear Eyes Wide Open

I am truly sorry for your loss, and yes, you are reaching a new stage, loss of dear ones makes us grow quite a lot.

When my dad died, many years ago, I was extremely sad and missed him so much. I still miss him at times, but what remains, even if memory or precise events sometimes fades away, what always remains as strong as ever is the love that was shared, the feeling of being loves and loving my dad.

I wish you the same

Mods, shouldn't we change the title of the thread for EWO dad's passing away?

I am so sorry EWO. I had lymphoma and though it may not help it is a very difficult cancer to diagnose sometimes. They thought I had osteosarcoma or multiple myeloma. It was frustrating and terrifying. Basically blood work for lymphoma can come out looking ok without obvious markers for cancer. Many people I've talked to had similar experiences with misdiagnosis. I would also consider at some point seeing an EMDR therapist to process your trauma around your dad's death, I am an EMDR therapist and know how this could affect the lens through which one interprets their life. Sending love and peace...
